Dr. John M. Crowell
Andalusia was saddened on Aug. 19, 2001, to hear of the death of Dr. John M. Crowell in Montreat, N.C. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church on Mobile. Burial will follow in Pince Crest Cemetery. Visitation wil be Friday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home.

Pearl Laird Miller
Pearl Laird Miller, 92, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001. Services will be held in Jacksonville,Fla. at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main St., with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 1). The family will receive friends and relatives at the chapel before the service. A descendant of pioneer families of Florida and Alabama, she was the daughter of Ada Victoria Zorn of Florala, Ala. and John Henry Laird of Panama City, Fla. She was the widow of the late William Whitfield Miller of Jacksonville. and was a former member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville. She was retired as a schoolteacher at the Ruth N. Upton School in Jacksonville.

Nellie Faye Beverly Lamont
Nellie Fay Beverly Lamont, 68, of Andalusia, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at her residence. She was a member of Cedar Grove Church of Christ and a past president of the Andalusia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. A funeral was held Sunday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Mike Jones officiating. Burial followed in New Home Congregational Church Cemetery.

Clara Elanor McGhee Dubose
Clara Elanor McGhee Dubose, 65, of Contonment, formerly of Dozier, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001. Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 3 p.m. at Dozier Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Sister Juanita Watson
Sister Juanita Watson, 71, of Opp, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in an Opp hospital. A funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Glory Tabernacle Church in Opp. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Keahey Funeral Home.

Mack Coy Beesley
Mack Coy Beesley, 75, of Red Level, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at his residence. A funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Turman and Rev. Glen Vaughn officiating. Special music was provided by Glenn Vaughn, soloist and Emma Turner, pianist. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Gusta A. Patrick
Gusta A. Patrick, 90, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, in an Andalusia nursing facility. A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at West Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Cole officiating. Special music was provided by Sue Reeves, pianist. Burial followed at Buck Creek Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Children’s Home in Troy or the West Highland Baptist Church building fund.

Miles Foyl DuBose
Funeral services for Miles Foyl DuBose, 63, of Van will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tues. Sept, 18 at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Calhoun and Rev. Ron Wells officiating. Burial will be held Wed. at 5 p.m. at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery, in Andalusia, under direction Hilliard Funeral Home of Van. Graveside officiated by Rev. Fred Kelley Jr. Mr. DuBose died Sept. 15, 2001 at a Tyler, Texas hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1937 in Pleasant Home. He lived in Van for 24 years moving from Mesquite. He is a Baptist. He is employed as an expediter for Bechtel Corp. love of grandchildren and family, best buddies-Kyle 1st grandson, love of geanealogoy, talked with cousins about famiy tree, had lots of call to him regarding family history, interested in exploring old cemeteries, love of Pleasant Home and third Sunday Singings and Alabama. He only missed one in his life due to the Air Force. He loved family cookouts and being with his sisters, loved and cared for his neices and nephews, gave Claudia a “finally 20” charm as they dated, member of the Son of Confederate Veterans, Recent reawakining to the “Lord’s Love and Sacrifice.”

Mack Coy Beesley
Funeral services for Mack Coy Beesley, 75, of Red Level was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Foremans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Turman and Rev. Glen Vaughn. Special music provided by Glenn Vaughn, soloist and Emma Turner, pianist. Burial was held in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Gusta A. Patrick
Funeral services for Gusta A. Patrick, 90, of Andalusia will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2001 at West Highland Baptist church with Sue Reeves as pianist and Rev. Leroy Cole, officiating. Burial was held at Buck Creek Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. The family will accept flowers or donations can be made to the Baptist Children’s home in Troy or West Highland Baptist Church Building.

Nellie Faye Beverly Lamont
Funeral services for Nellie Fay Beverly Lamont, 68, of Andalusia were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001 at Keahey Funeral Home with Mike Jones Officiating. Burial followed in New Home Congregational Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. Lamont was a member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ and a past president of the Andalusia American Legion Ladies Auxilary.

Albert Leo Veasey
Albert Leo Veasey, 81, of Sanford, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in a Dothan hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Roscoe Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Nellie LaMont
Nellie LaMont, 68, of Andalusia, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 at her residence. A funeral will be held Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Betty Jean LeMien
Betty Jean LeMien, 71, of Bridgewater, Conn., died Thursday, Sept. 13 her her residence. Born in Red Level, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Hattie (Hartzog) Fendley. A graduate of Sisters of Charity City Hospital School pf Nursing in Mobile, she was a Navy nurse during the Korean War. She worked as a staff nurse at Norwalk Hospital and Silver Hill Foundation, both in Connecticut, Druid City Hospital in Alabama, and Devereaux Foundation in Pennsylvania. She was a former resident of Charleston, PA and West Redding for 12 years each. A funeral will be held Sunday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford, Conn. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Leo Veasey
Leo Veasey, 81, of Sanford, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in a Dothan hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Roscoe Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 14, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Rhonda Jo Lenoir Clark
“I am a thousand winds that blow” A beloved wife, daughter, sister, friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Rhonda Jo Lenoir Clark, 42, of Yellow River Community, formerly of Baton rouge, La. died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at her residence. A funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home until time of services.

Annie Evelyn Sanders
Annie Evelyn Sanders, 81, of Babbie, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in an Opp hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to services.

Ella Irene Reeves
Ella Irene Reeves, 82, of Andalusia, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in a Georgia hospital. A funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Jere Hendricks officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Annie Evelyn Sanders
Annie Evelyn Sanders, of Babbie, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in an Opp hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to services.

William Conley
Mr. William Conley, age 85, a longtime resident of Andalusia, Alabama died Friday morning, September 21, 2001 at the home of his daughter in Dalton, Georgia. Mr. Conley was born August 1, 1916 in Chisholm, Minn. He retired in 1981 as Overseas Operation Officer for Arrow International and Executive Vice president of Alatex, Inc., both subsidiaries of Cluett Peabody and Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Prior to World War II he worked for Phelps Dodge Corporation in Ajo, Ariz. and for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif.He sHe served in the Army Engineers in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #1576 in Ajo, Ariz. and Masonic Lodge #274 of Chisholm, Minn. After attending Iowa State College he joined Cluett Peabody and Company and held an executive position in the states of Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ga., and Alabama and countries of Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Guatemala, and Mexico. Mr. Conley was preceded in death by his wife Juanita McIntosh Conley in 1975, his parents William and Stella Conley and his sister Helen Conley.

Annie Evelyn Sanders, 81, of Babbie, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in an Opp hospital. A funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Underwood officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Lucille Barnes Wallace
Lucille Barnes Wallace, 70, of Andalusia, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in a Dothan hospital. She was a nurse with Andalusia Regional Hospital. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. David Richburg officiating. Special music will be provided by Chuck Lassiter, soloist, and Heather Wiggins, pianist. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Texie C. Wesley
Texie C. Wesley, 90, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in an Andalusia nursing facility. A funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 29, in Columbia, Miss. with burial in Foxworth, Miss.

Augusta Lane Merrill
Augusta Lane Merrill, 66, of the Rawls community, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. Mrs. Merrill was a former resident of Niagra Falls, N.Y. where she retired from the Niagra County Health Department Laboratory. She was a member of Rawls Baptist Church. A funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, after 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice, or to Rawls Baptist Church.

Augusta Lane Merrill, 66, of the Rawls community, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. Kenneth L. Grissett
Kenneth L. Grissett, 60, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral will be held Friday, October 5, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Grove Church of Christ with Brother Bill Huggins and Brother Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 4, after 6 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Margaret A. Herring
Margaret A. Herring, of Hephzibah, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Medical College of Georgia. Her unique character was reflected in many ways. She had a passion for travel and shared this with her life and soul-mate, her loving husband, Eddie. Mrs. Herring was employed with Richmond County Mental Health. Her dedication to persons with special needs began as a volunteer and stretched into nearly 30 years of work with the mentally handicapped. Her passing will be felt by family, clients and co-workers. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Georgia TASC-Richmond County Donation Fund, Attention: Sharon Holder, 3412 B. Mike Padgett Highway, Augusta, Georgia, 30906 and/or the Brain Injury Alliance of South Carolina, 1030 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, S.C. 29210.

Shirley Mae Odom Yawn
Shirley Mae odom Yawn, 65, of Andalusia, formerly of Bainbridge, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at her daughter’s residence. A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Ella Irene Reeves
Ella Irene Reeves, 82, of Andalusia, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in a Georgia hospital. A funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lucille Boyd Jackson
Lucille Boyd Jackson, 75, of Red Level, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were co-owners of J.M. Transportation Company of Montgomery. Memorial service to be announced at a later date at Fairmount Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Wadsworth Cemetery in Wadsworth.

George Taylor “Bruno” Bronaugh III
George Taylor “Bruno” Bronaugh III of Dozier, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at his residence. Memorial services will be announced later by Foreman Funeral Home.
