Mary Albritton Cabaniss, 87, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at her residence..Mrs. Cabaniss was born Nov. 22, 1913 to Mr. and Mrs. William Harold Albritton of Andalusia. Mr. and Mrs. Cabaniss lived in Schenectady, N.Y. from 1945 thru 1965 and in Syracuse, N.Y. from 1971 to 1992. Mr. Cabaniss worked with General Electric. A funeral was held Monday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Andalusia with Rev. Janet Looby officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Office of Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Henry Alton Lee, 84, of Red Level, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, in a Montgomery nursing facility. He was a meat inspector with the State of Alabama and a member of Fairmount Baptist Church. A funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at Fairmount Baptist Church with Rev. Drexel Copeland and Rev. Max Lisenby officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home. William Rex Dorman
William Rex Dorman, 66, of Eufaula, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Lakeview Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born January 10, 1935 in Opp, he was the son of the later William Rayford and Clara Paul Dorman. He was a Viet Nam war veteran, having served 17 years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Dorman worked for six years as chief engineer at Andalusia Hospital and had served as fire chief of the White Oak Shores Volunteer Fire Department for the past 5 years. He lived in the Eufaula area for the past eight years coming from Opp. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Opp. A funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 12 noon at Kent Funeral Home with Chaplain Jerry Evans Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Stella Jeanette Lunsford Swanson, 77, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at her residence. She was a wife, homemaker and worked several years as a Nurse’s Aid at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, N.Y. After retiring in 1979, she moved back to Alabama. Mrs. Swanson was a member of Rawls Baptist Church. A funeral will be held Sunday, October 21, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Roberts officiating. Music will be provided by Sue Rawls. Burial will follow in Rawls Cemetery. Ruth W. Tatum, 94, the daughter of the late W.H. and Mary Elizabeth (Bass) Williams, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Tatum attended Dowing School for girls in Brewton after which she attended Troy State University and then taught school in Wetumpka. After her late husband, Benjemon Morris Tatum, retired from the United States Navy, they returned to Andalusia and made their home. Mrs. Tatum was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Joel Faircloth and Minister Herb Carlisle officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 12:30 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.
