Audrey M. Teague

Funeral services for Audrey M. Teague, 88, of Vinemont will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Mark Davis officiating, with burial in Flint Creek Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Teague died Thursday, Aug. 29 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1914 to John and Henrietta Knighten Yarbrough. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, W.J. “Jack” Teague.

Survivors include a son, Edward (Becky) Teague; four daughters, Lottie Mae (Hansel) Drake, Dorothy (John) Wilhite, Martha (Larry) Weaver, Anna Hosmer; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today.

David Leavon Kitchens

Funeral services for David Leavon Kitchens, 42, of Chicago, Ill. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Sandlin Chapel Methodist Church, Wanda Banks officiating, with burial in Sandlin Cemetery in Bremen.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kitchens died Wednesday, Aug. 28 in Chicago, Ill. He was born on May 29, 1960 in Elkhart, Ind.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Richard and Nancy Kitchens of Bremen; his mother, Pauline Moody of Jasper; two step-brothers, Donald Ashby and Glen Ashby of Denver, Colo.; a step-sister, Donna Glover of Gainesville, Fla.; and two brothers, Chris Kitchens and Jeff Kitchens of Bremen.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

J. B. Sullivan Jr.

Funeral services for J. B. Sullivan Jr., 75, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at Holly Pond Funeral Chapel, with services also to be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Victory Grove Church in Wagarville, Arthur Glenn Sullivan officiating, with burial in Clearwater Cemetery in Wagarville.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sullivan died Thursday, Aug. 29 at his residence. He was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Washington County to James B. and Hattie Howard Sullivan. He was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include three sons, James B. Sullivan III of Blountsville, Nick McAlpine of Acworth, Ga., Bruce McAlpine of Walter; three daughters, Beverly Allday of Ider, Jackie McAlpine Williams of Holly Pond, Michelle Sullivan of Blountsville; a brother, Gerald Sullivan of Wagerville; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ellington Moreman

Funeral services for Ellington Moreman, 88, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Mukwonago Baptist Church in Mukwonago, Wis., with burial in the church cemetery.

Church and Chapel Funeral Service of Mukwonago, Wis. is in charge of arrangements.

He died Thursday, Aug. 29.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Moreman, on July 16 of this year.

Survivors include his son, Charles (Donna) Hatchett; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.

Abagail ‘Gail’ Basler

Funeral services for Abagail “Gail” Basler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, the Rev. Herb Isenberg officiating, with burial in Linwood Cemetery.

Turner East Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

She died Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She was born Nov. 5, 1947 in Vinemont to Leamon and Emma Lankford Powell. She married David Bruce Basler on Dec. 3, 1993 in Fayetteville, Tenn. She was a cost accountant in the textile industry for nearly 30 years and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Beethoven Club, the Tuesday Study Club and Naomi Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include her husband; two step-sons, Nathan Basler of Boston, Mass. and Evan Basler of Huntsville; five brothers, J.W. Powell of Indiana, E.C. Powell of Cedar Lake, Ind., Bob Powell of Couts, Ind., Larry Powell of Falkville, Ind., and Doug Powell of Hartselle; and a sister, Dorothula Martin of Gary, Ind.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, or to the Mercy Medical Center Dialysis Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Opie Bell Norris
Funeral services for Opie Bell Norris, 84, of Cullman will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Ray Ponder officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Norris died Friday, Aug. 30 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Oct. 21, 1918 to George and Magnolia Pounds Turner. She was a dietitian.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Dovard Norris of Cullman; two brothers, Louie (Sue) Turner, Comer Turner both of Cullman; and one sister, Idell (Clinton) McDaniel of Elba.

Visitation was Saturday.

Willie Ruben Overton

Funeral services for Willie Ruben Overton, 86, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Robert Finley officiating, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery on Glory Hill Road.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Overton died Saturday, Aug. 31 at his residence. He was born Sept. 27, 1915 to Robert and Molly Chambers Overton. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mauline Helms Overton; children, Mary (Robert) Parker, Sarah Quinn, Wayne (Jeraldean) Overton, Patsy Stevenson, Gene Overton; step-children, Inez (Ralph) Miller, Louis (Lois) VonHieber, Christine Finley, Harold Skipper, Annie (John) McGraw, Geneva Jacobs; brothers, Louis, Lonnie, Lenard, Hugh and Hurshel Overton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 32 step-grandchildren; 66 step-great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Lela Mack Parker

Private funeral services for the family of Lela Mack Parker, 64, of Hartselle were held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parker was born in Hooper, Neb., on April 12, 1938 to Norman Clair and Dorothy Fern Shaffer Mack. She was a homemaker and a member of Deersprings Baptist Church in Hartselle.

Survivors include her husband, Elwin Lee Parker of Hartselle; two sons, Ronnie Parker, Randi Parker both of Hartselle; two daughters, Sherri Parker Bordelon, Minni Parker both of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Dennis Mack, Glen Christensen, Martin Mack; four sisters, Inez Burnhart, Ariene Christensen, Verla Gatchall, Annette Gustavson; and seven grandchildren.

Agnes Scott McClendon McMinn
Funeral services for Agnes Scott McClendon McMinn, 78, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Wayne Cook officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Sept. 1 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 21, 1923 in Cullman County, the daughter of Felix Lee and Lois Holling McClendon. She was a dental assistant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Amiel McMinn; a son, Gerald McMinn; and three sisters, Edna Huffman, Mildred Speggle and Dean Tolbert.

She is survived by a son, Dale McMinn of Cullman; a daughter-in-law, Patricia McMinn of Cullman; a brother, Harold McClendon of Cullman; and a grandson, Jack McMinn of Cullman.

Visitation was Monday.

Rutha C. Shelton

Funeral services for Rutha C. Shelton, 86, of Hartselle will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Shelton Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Ray Ponder officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Sept. 1 at her home. She was born Nov. 10, 1915, the daughter of Earnie and Lavissie Wood Cone. She was a housewife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Shelton; and a son, Clell Dee Shelton.

She is survived by two sons, Laron Shelton and J.V. Shelton, both of Hanceville; two daughters, Shelby Jean White of Hanceville and Tammie Bailey of hartsHlle; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Caroline Watson Burbank

Services for Caroline Watson Burbank, 40, of Bay St. Louis, Miss., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Moss-Service Chapel, the Rev. Ray Lathem officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Aug. 30 at her home.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Burbank; four children, Erica, Kyle, Taylor and Carly; and her parents, John P. Watson and Helen and Jim Bush.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today.

William Sutcliffe Bethell
Graveside services for William Sutcliffe Bethell, 92, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Kevin McGrath officiating, with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Moss Service Chapel.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He died Monday, Sept. 2 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1910 in Tennessee to Arthur William and Estelle Hunt Bethell. He was a circulation manager for a newspaper and a veteran of the Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bethell; two daughters, Peggy (Rodger) Hoffman and Brenda Catherine (Butch) Alexander; a son, William Robert (Blanche) Bethell; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today.
