Gerardo Contreras Rosas, 28, of Cullman died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002. He was born Sept. 3, 1974. Visitation was Monday at Moss Service Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place in Orizaba, Veracruz, in Mexico.

Era Elaine McClellan
Funeral services for Era Elaine McClellan, 89, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Roland Westmoreland officiating, with burial in Corinth West Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. McClellan died Monday, Sept. 2 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born May 5, 1913 in Chilton County. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McClelland; her parents, James and Millie Harris; five brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include 45 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday.
Edward A. Saddy
Memorial services for Edward A. Saddy, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Father Kevin McGrath officiating, with burial in St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Stroudsburg, Pa.

Mr. Saddy died Sunday, Sept. 1, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Stroudsburg. He began working in steel mills at a young age. He served in the European Theater in World War II, earning two battle stars. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a master of arts degree in economics at the Wharton School of Business. He studied Spanish at the University of Havana in Cuba. He was well-known in the Avon and Fuller Brush Co. He last position was as senior counselor with the Trinity Church in Manhattan, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brahim Saddy and Nadjla Lawand Saddy; a granddaughter, Virgina Lyons; and a brother, Fred Saddy.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Becker Saddy of Cullman; a son, Edward Saddy of Austin, Texas; four daughters, Tina (Paul) Bell of New Jersey, Janette (Rick) Lyons of Pennsylvania, Caroline Saddy of Cullman, Laura Saddy of Florida; two brothers, Richard Saddy and Jimmy Saddy, both of New York; a sister, Rosemarie Saddy of New York; 10 grandchildren, Joseph Bell, Julia Bell, Eve Partridge, Emily Bell, Timothy Bell, Linda Lyons, Kate Lyons, Olivia White, Bernadette White and David A. Saddy Woldin, whom Mr. Saddy helped to raise.
C.L. ‘Buck’ Parker
Funeral services for C.L. “Buck” Parker, 89, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at Eva United Pentecostal Church, Darrell Johns, Greg Wilbanks and Eddie Hampton officiating, with burial in Bethel Methodist Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

He died Monday, Sept. 2 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1913 in Fulton County, Ga. to John Henry and Dora Lee Swafford Parker. He was employed at Daubert Chemical.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maggie Irene Parker; a sister, Ruth Benefield; and two brothers, Malcolm Parker and John Parker Jr.
Survivors include two sons, J.L. (Mary) Parker of Goldridge and Roger (Cindy) Parker of Fairview; six daughters, Virginia (Alvin) Taylor of Childersburg, Glenda (Lee) Cummings of Holly Pond, Edna Plott of Smyrna, Ga., Wynell (Lee) Speegle of Etha, Mickey (Billy) Bates of Eva, and Rebekah (Waid) Taylor of Blountsville; a sister, Codell Allen of Center Point; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Avis Ollie Whaley
Funeral services for Avis Ollie Whaley, 90, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at New Prospect Baptist Church, Richard Bailey and Ray Ponder officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Whaley died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at Woodland Village Health Care Center. He was born July 14, 1912 in Cullman County to Albert and Retter Hollis Whaley. He was a farmer and school bus driver for many years and a deacon at New Prospect Church for 41 years. He was also past master of Trimble Masonic Lodge and was past patron of Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Valine Trapp of Cullman.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Edna Campbell Whaley of Hanceville; a son, Pete (Lenda) Whaley of Hanceville; two grandsons, Jeff (Pamela) Whaley and Jamie (Ashley) Whaley, both of Hanceville; three great-grandsons, Brandon and Tyler Whaley and Josh Davis, all of Hanceville; three brothers, Ardis (Pauline) Whaley of Cullman, Avern (Ruby) Whaley of Mt. Olive, and Billy (Mary Jo) Whaley of Nashville, Tenn.; five sisters, Clara Wilson of Georgia, Lesilee Welch of Jasper, Joyce Turner of Hanceville, Elline Trapp of Cullman, and Nell (Willard) Stricklin of Bremen; and a brother-in-law, Hershell Trapp of Cullman.

Mr. Capps died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1921 in Birmingham to Steve Joe and Lulia HIgdon Capps. He was a produce salesman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn G. (Brannan) Capps of Cullman; three sons, Jack (Sandra) Capps Jr. of Cullman, Mervin (Bonnie) Amick of Houston, Greg (Kelly) Amick of Ociedo, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Naomi Capps, Chris Amick, Bart Amick, Shawn Amick, Brian Amick and Alan Coons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alacare Hospice Home Health or the Holly Pond Lions Club.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
Steven Gregory Payne
Funeral services for Steven Gregory Payne, 40, of Madison were Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. Jess Smith officiating, with a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Berlin Community Cemetery.

Mr. Payne died Friday, Aug. 30. He was a native of Cullman and resident of Madison. He was an electrical engineer with the Department of Defense and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monrovia.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Judge and Emma Payne and Paul Bentley, all of Cullman.
Survivors include his wife, Donna R. Payne of Madison; a daughter, Mallory Nicole Payne, Madison; a brother, Michael K. Payne of Cullman; his parents, Brady and Billie Jean Payne of Cullman; and his grandmother, May Belle Bentley, Cullman.
Visitation was Sunday.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Chapman of Hartselle; a son, Alfred Easterwood of Los Angeles; a sister, Ella Evans of Gadsden; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Blackmon died Wednesday, Sept. 4 at her residence. She was born June 8, 1915 in Cullman to John W. and Lizzie King Rigsby. She was a homemaker and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave Blackmon; two brothers, Kyle C. and Gilbert Rigsby; two sisters, Luva Mae Nix and Lois Griffin; and a stepdaughter, Iris Hyatt.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Mary Bennefield of Scant City, and Villa Dean King and Gaynell Nunnelly of Arab; a stepson, Dwaine “Bud” (Pat) Blackmon of Arab; two sons, Fred (Donnie) Blackmon of Crane Hill and Kelvin (Ann) Blackmon of Arab; two daughters, Diana (Delano) Cagle of Hanceville and Linda (Michael) Schaefer of Cullman; a sister, Eunice Wilkins of Cullman; eight grandchildren, Mark Sullins, Donna Blackmon, Tara Sartin, Jason Blackmon, Leah Messick, Chad Blackmon, Cindi Burns and Christopher Schaefers; and six great-grandchildren, Zachary Sullins, McKenzie Blackmon, Brittany Blackmon, Dalton Sartin, Alli Messick and Kie Burns.
