Larry W. Moore

Services for Larry W. Moore, 54, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bobby Stephenson and Osborn Ridgeway officiating, with burial in Green ’s Chapel Cemetery near Cleveland.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He died Sept. 6 at Medical Center Blount in Oneonta. He was born in Blount County.

Survivors include his wife, Freddie Moore of Blountsville; two sons, Wayne Moore of Locust Fork and Larry Moore Jr. of Pinson; his father, M.D. Moore of Locust Fork; his mother, Mabelene Moore of Locust Fork; three daughters, Jacqueline Moore of Mt. Olive and Malissa Moore and Gladys Moore, both of Locust Fork; a stepdaughter, Sonia McGlaughn of Jemison; nine grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

J. B. ‘Jack’ Robertson
Funeral services for J.B. “Jack” Robertson, 80, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Albert Dean Estes and David Estes officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robertson died Saturday, Sept. 7 at his residence. He was born in Pauldin County, Ga. on March 10, 1922 to Seaf Franklin and Mattie Lou Mitchell Roberson. He was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margie L. South Robertson; a daughter, JoAnn Robertson Green of Falkville; a brother, Eugene Roberson of Vinemont; a sister, Gracie Roberts of Vinemont; one grandchild; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry Moore, Joe Shaw, Horace Roberts, Joe Roberson, Bruce Walker, Jared Walker, and Ricky Roberson.

Visitation was Monday.

Iva Lillian James

Funeral services for Iva Lillian James, 69, of Kersey, Pa. will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. James died Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Elk Regional Health Center in Ridgway, Pa. She was born March 24, 1933 to William P. and Johnnie Bell Tillery Guthrie. She worked for Stackpole Carbon and Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert D. James; and her daughter, Frances M. James.

Survivors include four sons, Robert W. James and Johnny R. James both of Toledo, Ohio, Thomas A. James of Johnsonburg, Pa. and David A. James of Ridgway, Pa.; four daughters, Linda J. Sallows of Oregon, Pamela S. Deland of Jacksonville, Fla., Deborah L. Munson of Bend, Ore., Dawn M. Woodford of Ridway, Pa.; three sisters, Frances Headwick, Mary Agness Short, Betty Montgomery; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation.

Walter Robert Gable

Graveside services for infant Walter Robert Gable will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Emeus Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He died Friday, Sept. 6 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Sept. 6, 2002 in Jefferson County to Claude Jeffery and April LaShane Gable.

He was preceded in death by Ray Still, Louise Gable and Marion and Velma Adams.

Survivors include his parents; his grandparents, Lavonda (Craig) Hughes, Jeff (Sonya) Still and Fritz and Vonda Gable; his great-grandparents, Gerald and Imogene Hardin, Barbara Still, Earnsteen and Jimmy Gable; and great-great-grandparents, Eura Hardin, Alton (Cloie) Ray, Roxie Carden and Ivalene Still.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the UAB Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Orvis Clayton Kelso

Funeral services for Orvis Clayton Kelso, 62, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Hal Daigre officiating, with burial in Springhill Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelso died Saturday, Sept. 7 at Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Cullman County on April 21, 1920 to Henry Clem and Rosie Ethel Kelsoe. He was a retired produce vendor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Buddy Kelsoe; and three sisters, Gertha Hutson, Willean Davis, Agnes McCluskey.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Faye Kelso of Falkville; a son, Wayne (Glenda) Kelso of Falkville; five daughters, Becky Chandler and Rhonda (Clifton) Sheats both of Falkville, Judy (Jim) Nelson, Vicky (Mike) Reynolds, Edith Woody all of Cullman; a sister, Gracie (Leonard) Hutson of Cullman; and nine grandchildren, David Lee, Keitha Cooper, Bethany Reynolds, Shanna Reynolds, Jennifer Nelson, Eric Nelson, Richard Nelson, Shirley Nelson and Cody Kelso.

Visitation was Monday.

David Alan Huffman

Funeral services for David Alan Huffman, 43, of Cullman were Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Lawrence Normand officiating, with burial in Damascus Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Huffman died Saturday, Sept. 7 in Birmingham. He was born in Lake County, Ind. on April 18, 1959 to Tommy and Mariglynn Boren Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Mariglynn Spears of Cullman; three brothers, Albert L. “Butch” (Pat) Huffman of Highland, Ind., Randy J. (Paula) Huffman of Gardendale; Eddie Spears of Logan; a nephew, Eli Thompson; and five nieces, Gabrielle DeVires, Melissa DeVires, Megan Huffman, Gabriella Spears and Brook Thompson.

Visitation was Sunday.

George Jay Aycock
Funeral services for George Jay Aycock, 76, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, with burial in Flat Rock Methodist Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Aycock died Monday, Sept. 9 at his residence. He was born Jan. 9, 1926 in Cullman to Randolph R. and Parlee Goodwin Aycock. He worked for Mum’s The Word Green house. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his brother, Elbert Aycock of Birmingham; and his sister, Mildred (James) Hutchens of Cullman.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Peggy Sue Sandlin

Funeral services for Peggy Sue Sandlin, 68, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Cold Springs Baptist Church, Dillon Calvert and Carroll Swann officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sandlin died Tuesday, Sept. 10 at her residence. She was born Nov. 3, 1933 in Alabama to Virgil and Fannie Ella Vest Quinn. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Sandlin; a daughter, Debra Ann Calvert; a son, Randy J. Sandlin; a sister, Dorothy Daniel; a brother, Robert Quinn; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Charles Emmett Farley
Funeral services for Charles Emmett Farley, 66, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Terry Blackwood officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Farley died Monday, Sept. 9 at his residence. He was born Sept. 28, 1936 to Huel and Bell Farley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a brother, Arnold Farley of Hanceville; and a sister, Mary Black of Hanceville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Helen Jean Leslie

Graveside services for Helen Jean Leslie, 57, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Garden City Cemetery, the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leslie died Tuesday, Sept. 10 at her residence. She was born April 30, 1946 in Cullman County. She was a cashier for Crown-Roebuck.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Haynes.

Survivors include her husband, Harold F. Layne of Cullman; her mother, IvaLee Johnson of Cullman; two sons, John David Leslie of Fultondale and Glen (Teresa) Layne of Cullman; a daughter, Ilizabeth Leslie of Cullman; a sister, Rosalee Leslie of Birmingham; and a grandchild, Angie Marie Shelton.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

Zenaida Rodgers

Graveside services for Zenaida Rodgers, 65, of Montclair, Calif. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Cullman City Cemetery, Fr. Kevin McGrath officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rodgers died Friday, Aug. 30 at her residence. She was born Oct. 11, 1936 in Havana, Cuba. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gabino Gancedo; her husband, Preston H. Rodgers; her brother, Alberto Gancedo; and her sister, Olga Gancedo.

Survivors include his mother, Maria Del Pozo Gancedo of Montclair, Calif.; a son, Preston W. (Suzy) Rodgers of Montclair, Calif.; a daughter, Sara (David W.) Carter of Fontana, Calif.; two brothers, Jorge Gancedo of West Covina and Jose E. Gancedo of Havana, Cuba; five sisters, Maria T. Gonzalez of Claremont, Calif., Bertha Knight of Chino Hills, Calif., Magdalena Annan of Santa Ana, Calif., Margarita Van Emrick of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Yolanda Gancedo of Havana, Cuba; and three grandchildren, Alex Carter, Sophia Carter and Annika Rodgers.
