Eva Grace Slaten
Services for Eva Grace Slaten, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 at Enon Baptist Church, the Rev. Perry Brown officiating, with burial in Enon Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Slaten died Friday, Sept. 13, at Cullman Long Term Care. She was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Lawrence County to William and Mary Elizabeth Praytor Hardin. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robie Newt Slaten; three sisters, Martha Howard, Gladys Vest and Lena Woodall; and one brother, John Hardin.
Survivors include three sons, Edwin Joel “Mr. Ed” (Elaine) Slaten of Eva, Kenneth (June) Slaten of Vinemont. Dwight (Helen) Slaten of Walker County; a sister, Sarah Lawrence of Kalamazoo, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday.
Billy Ray Posey
Services for Billy Ray Posey, 65, of Blountsville will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Center Point, John Hunt, Larry Tolbert and Terry Butts officiating, with burial in Fowler Springs Cemetery near Blountsville. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Posey died Friday, Sept. 13 at his residence. He was born in Blount County to Gideon Palestine and Hazel Idella McHan Posey. He was an ordained minister and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a retired salesperson for Liberty National Insurance Co. and was retired from Dairy for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ann Jackson Posey; two daughters, Charlotte (Johnny) Samples of Trussville, Barbara (Jimmy) Meacham of Blountsville; son, Mark (Sheri) Posey of Blountsville; seven grandchildren, Craig (Leslie) Armstrong, Jared Samples, Casey and Cortney Meacham, Eric Richardson, Austin and Paige Posey; and one sister, Sue (Jack) Herring of Blountsville.
Pallbearers will be George Posey, Brice Posey, Roy Posey, Claude Posey, Craig Armstrong, Jared Samples. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Richardson, Austin Posey.
Visitation was Saturday.
Virginia Lee Garner Pope
Services for Virginia Lee Garner Pope of Fayetteville, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, the Rev. Charles Grovenstein officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Gilbert Ray Daniel
Funeral services for Gilbert Ray Daniel, 60, of Holly Pond will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Ricky Smith officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Mr. Daniel died Sunday, Sept. 15. He was born Feb. 7, 1942 in Cullman County to George and Missie Baker Daniel. He was a contruction worker for Blount County and was a member of Holly Pond United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Liz Pritchard Daniel of Holly Pond; a brother, Jesse (Evelyn) Daniel of Blountsville; two nephews, Gary (Teresa) Daniel and Heath (April) Daniel of Holly Pond; and two nieces, Misty (Andrew) Waldrop of Cullman and Janah Daniel of Holly Pond.
Eva Juanita ‘Buckie’ Porter Howse

Mrs. Howse died Sunday, Sept. 15 at her residence. She was born July 14, 1926 in Franklin County to James and Carrie Davis Porter. She was a former school teacher and member of Sardis Baptist Church No. 2.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Chelsea, Edward, Coleman, Jim, Mahugh and Jahugh Porter; and three sisters, Classie Porter, Clara Dollar and Arlean Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Howse; a daughter, Judy (Waymon) Rutherford of Cullman; two granddaughters, Jody (Tim) Stone of Birmingham and Carrie Beth (Ben) Fortson of Huntsville; a grandson, Thomas Fortson; a sister, Fannie Porter of Addison; and her brother, Barney Porter of Arab.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CRMC Patient Oncology Fund, in care of Sandra Sloan, 1912 Highway 157, Cullman 35058.

Phillip Daniel ‘Danny’ Stephens
Funeral services for Phillip Daniel “Danny” Stephens, 51, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Jackie Camp officiating, with burial in Crossroads Cemetery in West Point.

Mr. Stephens died Saturday, Sept. 14 at Woodland Hospital. He was born April 26, 1951 to Bonnie Virginia Stephens. He was a welder for Southern Energy Homes.
Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Schmale; and a son, Brandon Stephens of Cullman.
Visitation was Monday.
Myrtle Lovell Duke
Funeral services for Myrtle Lovell Duke, 88, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with burial in Missionary Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Duke died Monday, Sept. 16 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born June 20, 1914 in Cullman to John Harvey and Mary Frances Black Lovell. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Riley N. (Jeanette) Duke of Logan, John Boyd (Barbara Jean) Duke of Cullman and L. Frankie (Barbara) Duke of Falkville; a daughter, Dallas L. (Edward) Cagle of Tyrone, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ottis Miles ‘Ot’ Burrow

Mr. Burrow died Monday, Sept. 16 at his residence. He was born July 5, 1911 in Alabama to Grover Cleveland and Catherine Campbell Burrow. He was a motel innkeeper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Theoder Burrow, Everett Burrow and G.C. Burrow Jr.; and two sisters, Pally Burrow Russell and Geneva Burrow.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Hamilton Burrow; a brother, Edward M. Burrow of Cullman; and a sister, Irena Burrow Lovelady of La Place, La.

Nancy Luella Alvis Taylor

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday, Sept. 15 at her residence. She was born Jan. 22, 1932 in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Hill; husbands T.A. Alvis and Ceaf Taylor; and her father, William Humphrey.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Ann) Alvis of Nashville, Tenn. and Kenneth (Darlene) Alvis of Addison; four daughters, Teresa (Norman) Bales and Regina (Larry) Harris, both of Crane Hill, Doris (Joe) Hill of Morris, Nancy (Larry) Veahman of Jacksonville, Fla.; her mother, Grace (Parris) Headrick of Piedmont; two brothers, Ralph Headrick and Robert Headrick of Piedmont; a sister, Margie Steed of Piedmont; a special friend, Thomas Hill of Crane Hill; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Lansford, Julie Aletawi, Chris Bales, Heather Hill, Wayne Alvis, Greg Alvis, Kenneth Alvis Jr., Jeremy Alvis, Shannon Alvis, and Martha Alvis; and four great-grandchildren, Katie Lansford, Madison Stevens, Tessa Alvis, and Kassem Aletawi.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
William Franklin Lynn
William Franklin Lynn, 65, of Logan died Sept. 14, 2002 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 8, 1937 in Morgan County. He was a member of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alam Robertson Lynn.
Survivors include his first wife, Nellie Logan Lynn; his second wife, Linda Lynn; his father and stepmother, Curtis Lynn and Pearl Lynn of Logan; a son, Frank Lynn of Arizona; two daughters, Susan Peek of Logan and Frances Elswick of Michigan; two stepchildren, Brent and Sandy; a brother, Billy Lynn of Morgan County; a sister, Doris Asam of Hanceville; and 10 grandchildren.
Due to his being an organ donor, no funeral service is planned.
Virginia Parker O’Rear
Funeral services for Virginia Parker O’Rear, 59, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at Collins-Burke Chapel, Jasper, Steve Rogers officiating, with burial in New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery in Oakman.

Mrs. O’Rear died Sunday, Sept. 15 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Fleta Whitt Green ; and a daughter, Kristie Lynn O’Rear.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Ronald O’Rear Sr. of Cullman; two sons, Ronald O’Rear Jr. and Barry O’Rear, both of Cullman; a brother, Ray Green of Sumiton; two sisters, Jean Keeton and Barbara Edington, both of Fulton, Miss.; and eight grandchildren.
