Funeral services for Doris C. Roden, 91, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Drs. Hayes, Nielson and Burkett officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Roden died Friday, Oct. 4 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born May 21, 1911 in Alabama to William E. and Callie Caroline Hunt Casey. She was a retail sales clerk/bookkeeper for Ponders Dept. Store, Bob Sapp Company, Yost Gift Shop and Bendix Corp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Escal S. Roden; and her daughter, Mary Steve Roden Ray.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane R. Frutiger; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Frutiger, Mary Kathryn Frutiger, Callie Elizabeth Ray, and Ehran Ray.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Margaret Ruth Hallmark
Funeral services for Margaret Ruth Hallmark, 83, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Trueman Davis officiating, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Locust Fork.

Mrs. Hallmark died Thursday, Oct. 3 in Hanceville. She was born in Blount County on Dec. 25, 1918 to Claude and Alma Little Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include five sons, Barney Hallmark of Athens, Hugh (Cammie) Hallmark of Pinson, Jerry (Mary) Hallmark of Smoke Rise, Larry (Susan) Hallmark of Locust Fork, and Wesley (Deanie) Hallmark of Blountsville; three daughters, Myra Burch of Pinson, Patricia Holland of Hanceville, Linda (Rayburn) McNair of Gardendale; three sisters, Claudine Loggins of Pinson, Opal (Gus) Wall of Oneonta and Ann McCoy of Frostproof, Fla.; and two brothers, Don (Delilah) Sheridan of Pinson and Herschel Sheridan of Oneonta.
Visitation was Friday.
Gean Kritner
Funeral services for Gean Kritner, 71, of Cullman will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Gayland Campbell and Jim Spradlin officiating, with burial in Herring Cemetery in Hartselle.

Mrs. Kritner died Thursday, Oct. 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Morgan County on Oct. 1, 1931 to Parrish and Lola Mae Lott Blankenship. She worked as a cook at an assisted living facility in Cullman, attended Central Christian Church in Hartselle and was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church in Guntersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her son, Charles P. “Buddy” Vinson of Decatur; four daughters, Brenda Hicks of Decatur, Anita Fuller of Town Creek, Irene Wunch of Falkville, Sue Bentley of Cullman; three sisters, Margaret Mitchell, Joyce Lyke both of Hartselle, Helen Sanders of Guntersville; 16 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Henry Hilkey
Graveside services for Henry Hilkey, 76, of White Salmon, Wash. will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at White Salmon Cemetery, the Rev. Jan Schiering officiating.

Mr. Hilkey died in Hood River, Ore. on Thursday, Oct. 3. He was born on May 18, 1926 in Doris, Calif. to Howard and Florence Whipple Hilkey. He grew up in Hood River, Ore. and White Salmon, Wash. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. On Sept. 21, 1946 he married Sallie Skinner in Wilmington, N.C. After moving back to White Salmon, Mr. Hilkey worked for Rees Stevenson. In 1971 they relocated to Alabama and worked there in a sawmill until his retirement in 1982. Six years later they returned to White Salmon. He attended the Baptist Church there.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Sallie Ann Bird of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Robert Hilkey of Boise, Idaho; and two sisters, Lillian of Redmond, Ore. and Dorothy Glover of Hood River, Ore.
Corine Shaw
Funeral services for Corine Shaw, 88, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Dr. David McGowin officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Mrs. Shaw died Friday, Oct. 4 at her residence. She was born in Boaz on Oct. 6, 1913 to James and Icey Scott Eidson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Uless B. Shaw.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Elaine) Shaw, Ron (Linda) Shaw both of Hanceville; granddaughter, Melanie (J.J.) Helfrich of Trussville; grandson, John Shaw of Montgomery; and great-granddaughter, Kristen Shaw of Cullman.
Visitation was Saturday.
Cynthia Anderson
Graveside services for Cynthia Anderson of Cold Springs will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Cold Springs Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, Oct. 5 at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Whitehead died Friday, Oct. 4 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born in Blount County on June 16, 1912 to Jack and Linie Bales Hill. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fate A. Whitehead.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris D. McMurry of Hanceville; five sons, Lowell Whitehead, Roger Whitehead both of Baileyton, Billy Whitehead, Milton Whitehead both of Holly Pond, Albert Hill of Demopolis; sister, Ludie McMurry of Morris; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Deborah Conner
Funeral services for Deborah Conner, 50, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Guntersville Church of Christ, Phillip Bradley and Jim Wright officiating, with burial in Diamond Cemetery.

Ms. Conner died Saturday, Oct. 5 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. She was a native of Marshall County and had been with Childhaven in Cullman for the last 14 years.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, Arthell (Gearldine) Conner of Guntersville; brother, Charles (Pam) Conner of Guntersville; sister, Annette (John) Hei of Guntersville; two nephews, Mike Conner, Brian Conner both of Guntersville; and one niece, Kristie Kist of Guntersville.
Pallbearers will be Brian Conner, Jeff Kist, Don Conner, Jackie Conner, Andy Conn, Kenny Barnett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
William Otto ‘W.O.’ Walter
Funeral services for William Otto “W.O.” Walter, 83, of Union Grove will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Arab-Heritage Chapel.

Mr. Walter died Saturday, Oct. 5. He was born April 8, 1919.

Howell Leroy Brown
Services for Howell Leroy Brown, 81, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002. at Moss Service Chapel, the Revs. Herman Pair and Marvin Brock officiating, with burial in Bethsadia cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Oct. 6 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Nov. 22, 1920, the son of Leroy and Ozella Peters Brown. He was retired as terminal manager of Motor Convoy, Winston-Salem, N.C. He also had retired from the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Brown; two brothers, Finley and Joe F. Brown; and two sisters, Hazel Thompson and Willie Jean Hendrix.
Survivors include a son, Rodney Brown; a daughter, Judy Perry; a brother, Farrell Brown; a sister, Clara Mae Brown; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was Monday.
Jacqueline (Jackie) S. Copeland
Services for Jacqueline (Jackie) S. Copeland, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, the Revs. Marcus Long and Mac Buttram officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Copeland died Monday, Oct. 7 at her home. She was born Sept. 17, 1931 to Orvis and Mae Tompkins Speegle. She was an elementary school teacher. Mrs. Copeland was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, St. Bernard College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a native of Cullman and taught fifth grade at Holly Pond School for many years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Wendell T. Copeland; a son, Greg Copeland; a daughter-in-law, Susan F. Copeland; two grandchildren, Thad Copeland and Bess M. Copeland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church Fund.
Visitation was Monday.
Mary Lucille Leathers
Services for Mary Lucille Leathers, 91, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Delmer Peebles and Layne Howard officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Leathers died Sunday, Oct. 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Georgia on Aug. 20, 1911 to William and Nora Persall Dorries. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Leathers Sr.; four children, Raymond, Opalene, Imogene and Pauline; and three brothers, Johnny, Luther and Jimmy.
Survivors include five sons, Jerry (Doris) Leathers, Homer (Brenda) Leathers Jr., Sidney (Sharon) Leathers and David (Rhonda) Leathers, all of Cullman, and Larry (Nancy) Leathers of Somerville; a daughter, Marjorie (Euel) Henry of Cullman; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was Monday.
