Hazel Beatrice Husbeck
Funeral services for Hazel Beatrice Husbeck, 81, of Decatur will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Fr. John O’Donnell officiating, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Husbeck died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 18 in Walker County to Fred and Maude Hudson Bobo. She was an electrical technician for Gould Electric.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Bobo of Decatur; four brothers, Billy Bobo and Jack Bobo of Florida, Fred Neal Bobo of Michigan, Jimmy Bobo of Jasper; two sisters, Weona Hood of Vinemont and June Givens of Wallace, N.C.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

Reatha Adamson Wright

Funeral services for Reatha Adamson Wright, 84, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wright died Thursday, Nov. 14 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born on June 25, 1918 to James and Fannie Smith Adamson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Y.C., Hoyte, Hubert, Homer and Grady Adamson.

Survivors include a sister, Lovie (Bill) Folds; and two sisters-in-law, Elberta and Ted Adamson.

Visitation was Friday.

Glenda Dale Pugh

Funeral services for Glenda Dale Pugh, 58, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at Valley View Baptist Church, the Revs. Marvin Clemmons an Donald Day officiating, with burial in the church cemetery in Hanceville. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pugh died Thursday, Nov. 14 in Cullman. She was born in Jefferson on Feb. 2, 1944 to Mavis Wassom.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Nabors of Bremen; a son, Barry Edward Pugh of Bremen; two sisters, Patsy Cruce of Cullman and Barbara Stevenson of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, Terry Williams of Birmingham; and two grandchildren, Faith Nabors and Rebecca Nabors of Bremen.

Visitation was Friday.

Wiley B. Marsh

Funeral services for Wiley B. Marsh, 88, of Warrior will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Elvester Baptist Church, Bobby Standridge officiating, with burial in Elvester Cemetery.

Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Marsh died Friday, Nov. 15.

Survivors include three daughters, Fern Chappell, Penny Faught, Mable Graves, all of Warrior; six sons, Colin Marsh, Jack Marsh, Jimmy Marsh, all of Warrior, Jay Marsh and Steve Marsh of Morris, and Larry Marsh of Vinemont; a sister, Evelyn Noe of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; and 25 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lizzie Knight
Funeral services for Lizzie Knight, 78, of Logan will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Jerry Lake and Greg Aldridge officiating, with burial in Emeus Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Knight died Friday, Nov. 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 21, 1924 to William and Lelear Hooper Hale. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, John Knight of Logan, Jerry Dean Knight of Mississippi; two brothers, Milton Hale of Hanceville, Elton Hale of Cullman; grandson, Joel Knight; and two granddaughters, Jackie Knight and Samantha Howard.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Jewel Dean Thornton
Funeral services for Jewel Dean Thornton, 83, of Cullman were Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Frank McKinze and Hulen Murphree officiating, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Moss Service Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thornton died Saturday, Nov. 16 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born June 11, 1919 in Alabama to Iola and Bertie Phillips Granade. She was a poultry farmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Thornton; her parents; a son, Jimmy Ferris Thornton; a sister, Goldie Holt; three brothers, Bernice, Aquilla and Ferris Granade; and a great-granddaughter, Alainah Glover.

Survivors include a son, William Durell (Sharon) Thornton; a sister, Zellia Murphree; two granddaughters, Janet (Daniel) Moody and Jennifer (Jarrod) Glover; and four great-grandchildren, Kallen and Trace Moody, Victoria and Holly Glover.

Visitation was Sunday.

Audrey O. Tyler

Funeral services for Audrey O. Tyler, 88, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Revs. Greg Story and Hayes Oliver officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tyler died Sunday, Nov. 17 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 30, 1914 to J.T. and Katie Hart McLain. She was a retired teacher from Texas. She moved to Cullman from Amarillo, Texas in 1992. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and received many awards from the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Roy N. Tyler.

Survivors include a son, John (Delores) Tyler of Marshall, Texas; a daughter, Jean Smith of Cullman; a brother, Clifton McLain of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Lorraine Wallace of Los Osds, Calif., Cleta (John) Brown of Carrolltown, Texas, Doris McLain of Floydada, Texas, and Ovelene (Tom) Atchison of Paradise, Calif.; five grandchildren, Anderia (David) Parker, Brian (Jennifer) Smith, Chandra (Ted) Miller, Troy (Vanessa) Tyler and Tonya (James) Vega; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Parker, Blake Parker, Makenna Smith, Malia Smith and Victoria Tyler.

Pallbearers will be Grady Griffin, Charles Montgomery, Dewitt Pinkard, Dale Pearson, Edwin Guthrie and Ralph McBrayer.

Visitation was Monday.

James Wayne Gibson

Funeral services for James Wayne Gibson, 50, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Bethlehem West Baptist Church, Tim Aris officiating, with burial in Central Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gibson died Sunday, Nov. 17 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Oct. 6, 1952 in Cullman to James C. and Harriet L. Hollis Gibson. He worked for Terry Pest Control and was a member of Bethlehem West Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Debbie Louise Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Parris Gibson of Cullman; two sons, Jeremy Gibson of Tuscaloosa and J.J. Gibson of Auburn; a sister, Diann (Jerry) Vaughn of Cullman; two nieces, Cherrie (Roger) Verhoff of Cullman and Mandi (Jack) Holden of Jonesborough, Tenn.; and five great-nieces and -nephews, Blake, Brittany, Brandon, Carley and Zane.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charlsie Smith Hackney

Funeral services for Charlsie Smith Hackney, 83, of Hanceville, formerly of Huntsville, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, Pastors Herman Elliott, Billy Moon, Jerry Fleming and Mr. Jacobs officiating, with burial in Etha Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hackney died Sunday, Nov. 17 at a Cullman hospital. She was born March 27, 1919 in Eva to William Henry and Annie Gregory Fowler.

She was preceded in death by parents; the father of her children, John Jacob Astor Smith; two sons, Lewis and Anthony Smith; and three brothers, Millard, Richard and Roy Fowler.

Survivors include her husband, Home Hackney of Hanceville; two sons, Frankie Smith of Center and Johnnie Smith of Huntsville; a daughter, Susanne Tovar Cobb of Huntsville; two stepsons, Michael Hackney of Fairview and Gary Hackney of Cullman; a brother, Albert Fowler of Huntsville; a sister, Minnie Mae Childers of Huntsville; 16 grandchildren, Jamie A Tovar, Michael S. Tovar, Adairious Marks, Michael Anthony Smith, and Felissa Smith, all of Huntsville, Julian Dean Smith and Robin Smith of Columbia, Miss., Gabriel Cobb of Memphis, Tenn., Tammy Lynn, Franklin (Dee) Smith and Michael Smith, all of Cedartown, Ga., Sharon Smtih of Cartersville, Ga., Candice Smith and Brittany Smith of New Market, Victor L. Smith and Misty Lynn Smith of Cullman; four step-grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Houston H. Bradley

Funeral services for Houston H. Bradley, 78, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Arab Memorial Chapel, Gene Lambert and Ralph McGowan officiating, with burial in New Home Cemetery in Cullman County.

Arab Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bradley died Saturday, Nov. 16 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 4, 1924 in Cullman County to Hugh Henry and Sarah Ellen Walker Bradley. He was a farmer and a member of Baileyton Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Valree Willis Bradley in 1986.

Survivors include two sons, Dwight (Renea) Bradley of Guntersville and Rodney (Sherry) Bradley of Holly Pond; three daughters, Teeny (Donnie) Clem and Sara (Leldon) Eddleman, both of Holly Pond, and Linda (Leroy) Pope of Cullman; a brother, Euell Bradley of Arab; seven grandchildren, Justin Bradley, Misha Clem, Johnna Hollingsworth, Celette Dean, Sonja Bowen, Kenny Eddleman and Beth Bradley; and three great-grandchildren, Chase Hollingsworth, Calan Hollingsworth and Bradley Bowen.

Pallbearers will be Matt Dean, Greg Hollingsworth, Kenney Eddleman, Justin Bradley, Ed Willie and Milford Hays.

Visitation was Monday.

Dorothy Whitman Branch

Funeral Mass for Dorothy Whitman Branch, 81, of Birmingham will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating, with burial in Elmwood Mausoleum.

Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Branch died Saturday, Nov. 16. She was born in Princeton, Ind. and moved to Birmingham in 1946. She retired from the Mountain Brook Board of Education and the Emmet O’Neal Library. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the St. Elizabeth Sodality Band.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harold E. Whitman of Evansville, Ind.

Survivors include two sons, David (Shirley) Branch of Cullman and Clay (Kim) Branch of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Margaret B. Green of Selma and Lee Stewart of Birmingham; and six grandchildren, Alan Branch, Matt Branch, Carrie Elizabeth Beavers, Adam Green, Nelson and Cole Branch.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Emmett O’Neal Library or the St. Francis Xavier Church building fund.

Visitation was Monday.
