Memorial services for Mildred Vaughn Campbell, 86, of Gadsden will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Lemley Chapel.

Mrs. Campbell died Sunday, Nov. 17 at her residence. She was born in Tennessee to William David and Annie Nipper Vaughn. She was the owner and operator of Campbell’s Fabric Shop and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Snead and the Clarence Chapter of Eastern Star of Snead.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Thomas Odell Campbell.
Survivors include four sons, Dwight Campbell of Snead, Odis Campbell of Lacy Springs, Glenn Campbell of Canal Point, Fla., and Larry Campbell of Gadsden; a daughter, Helen Wells of Snead; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Vaughn of Louisiana, Glenn Vaughn of Ardmore and Franklin Vaughn of Madison; and a sister, Merry Ruth Hubbert of Albertville.
Eunice Chaney
Funeral services for Eunice Chaney, 67, of Logan will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Carl Malin and Gerald Smith officiating, with burial in Friendship Cemetery.

Mrs. Chaney died Monday, Nov. 18 at her residence. She was born May 7, 1935 in Cullman County to Alem and Lester Trussell Givens. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her parents; eight sons, Ronald Chaney, Donald Chaney, Ray Chaney, Freddie Chaney, Eddie Chaney, Stacey Chaney, Vickie Chaney, David Chaney; three daughters, Betty Hamby, Peggy Fillmore, Mae Knowles; four brothers, Dinky Givins, Thelbert Givins, Johny Givins, Danny Givens; three sisters, Velmer Powell, Shelby Givens, Nelly News; 31 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday.
James Thomas Harris
Funeral services for James Thomas Harris, 81, of Birmingham will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, David Hale and Nellie Coleman officiating, with burial in Bell Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Harris died Monday, Nov. 18 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. He was born Aug. 20, 1921 in Barnesville, Ga. to Watson and Geneva Adams Harris. He was a pest control technician.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph Adams and Jimmy Harris; a sister, Frances Harris; and two grandchildren, Charles Pennell and Paul Pennell.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Ross Harris of Birmingham; two sons, Larry Harris and Tony Harris of Birmingham; three daughters, Patsy Williams of Falkville, Connie Ray of Odenville and Carol Speakman of Birmingham; three brothers, Marvin Adams and E.T. Adams of Georgia and Wesley Adams of California; a sister, Bertha Hammerick of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday.
Guy Paul Brown
Memorial services for Guy Paul Brown, 37, of Blountsville were Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Ross Swindle officiating.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Nov. 17 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was a 1983 graduate of Pennington High School in Blountsville.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Jane Davis; his step-father, Raymond Davis, both of Blountsville; two brothers, Jim (Rhonda) Brown of Gardendale and Billy Ray (Lisa) Davis of Arab; five aunts, Lula Stanley, Phyllis White, Peggy Garrell, Dina Price and Arlene Jenkins; three uncles, Roy Stanley Jr., James Brown and William Weaver; a niece and 4 nephews.

Ludie Beatrice Brown
Funeral services for Ludie Beatrice Brown, 83, of Bremen will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Phillip Starnes and Wayne Williams officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Monday, Nov. 18 at Ridgeview Healthcare in Jasper. She was a charter member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Bremen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Brown; her parents, Ervin and Della South Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Nevada Frizzell of Bremen and Juanita Hardin of Jasper; three sons, Dan Brown Jr. of Biloxi, Miss., Kenneth Ross Brown of Atlanta, Ga. and Adrion Edward Brown of Trafford; a brother, Lloyd Young; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adrion Brown Jr., Matt Green, Terry Parker, Wesley Brown, Danny Hardin and William Allen Parker.

Johnny Quinn Starling
Funeral services for Johnny Quinn Starling, 60, of Decatur will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Fr. Joe Culotta officiating, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Starling died Monday, Nov. 18 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1942 to James and Lois Nunley Starling. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Cook; and a brother, Roy Donald Starling.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Watwood Starling; three daughters, Tonya Breeding, Tara Darling and Terrie Jo Sparks, all of Decatur; a brother, James Starling of Attalla; four sisters, Faye Rutledge of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joyce McKenzie of Louisberg, Tenn., Gail Brooks of Good Hope and Vickie McElroy of Baileyton; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Herman William Malchow
Funeral services for Herman William Malchow, 86, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Harold Hermetz officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Malchow died Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Floyd E. Tut Fann State Veterans’ Home. He was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Cullman County to Ernst and Ida Goeller Malchow. He was a member of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Millard Buchman Orchestra for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a sister, Tillie D. Malchow of Cullman; and a cousin, Ed (Jamie) Goeller.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Sarah Ella Bland Mitchell

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Mitchell; two daughters, Faynelle (Lindsey) Self of Bremen and Glenda Mitchell of Cullman; three sons, Wayne (Pat) Mitchell and Leonard Mitchell of Cullman and Leland (Mary) Mitchell of Signal Hill, Calif.; a brother, Ray Bland of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cadle died Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1918 to James T. and Lilian Lowery Lake. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by parents; a daughter, Gail Persall; and a sister, Opal Sloan.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Cadle of Tuscaloosa, Bobby Cadle, Wayne Cadle and James Cadle all of Vinemont; two daughters, Hilda (Buck) Jackson of Vinemont and Roberta (Horace) Stapp of Decatur; a brother, James Shelly Lake of Vinemont; a sister, Ruth Trahan of New Orleans, La.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Lois Lake Berry
Memorial services for Lois Lake Berry, 91, of Birmingham, formerly of Cullman County, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, Scott Arnold officiating.

Mrs. Berry died Sunday, Nov. 17 after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 2, 1911 to John Henry and Mollie Edwards Lake. She was a retired licensed practical nurse having worked for over 30 years at South Highland Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sisters, Nettie Milam and Bess White of Hanceville; a grandson, Charles Spencer; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Theo Columbus Smith

Mr. Smith died Thursday, Nov. 21 at his residence. He was born Jan. 4, 1911 in Cullman County to Ernest T. Sr. and Mary Suggs Smith. He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ernest T. Smith Jr.; and his sister, Laverne Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Ragland Smith of Tarrant; three sons, A.L. (Faye) Smith of Birmingham, A.T. (Pollie) Smith of Tampa, Fla. and Michael D. Smith of Tarrant; a daughter, Brenda G. (Franklin) Glover of Vinemont; a sister, Grethel Mann of Cullman; six grandchildren, Gary A. Smith of Hartselle, Robert Smith, Kerry Smith, and Melanie Morales of Tampa, Fla., Sheila (Mike) Haynes and Carol (Daniel) Kelley of Cullman; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
