Funeral services for Dorothy G. Lee Oakes, 85, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Harold Hermetz officiating, with burial at 1 p.m. in Moncrief Cemetery in Gardendale. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Oakes died Sunday, Nov. 24 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1917 to Edward Benjamin and Willie Estelle Edwards Lee. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, John T. Oakes; a son, George Mark Grady of Elmhurst, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Hayes of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. and Bobbie Strickland of Jemison; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today.
Lambert C. ‘L.C.’ Whitfield
Funeral services for Lambert C. “L.C.” Whitfield, 99, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Ferrell Milligan officiating, with burial in Damascus Cemetery.

Mr. Whitfield died Saturday, Nov. 23 at his residence. He was born June 29, 1903 to John Calvin and Nancy Cordell Whitfield. He was a cooker operator at Quaker Oats.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Whitfield; a daughter, Doris Lods; and a grandson, James Whitfield.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Sumner Whitfield of Cullman; a son, Jack Calvin Sr. (Shirley) Whitfield of Hanceville; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday.
Edis Delane Guthrie
Funeral services for Edis Delane Guthrie, 34, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Oak Level Baptist Church, Dan Deliz officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Guthrie died Saturday, Nov. 23 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1968 in Marshall County. He worked a sales route for Flowers Distribution.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlie Ruebin Guthrie; his brother, Eugene Guthrie; and two sisters, Vivialene Moon and Anita Guthrie.
Survivors include his wife, Yvette Lanier Guthrie of Cullman; a mother, Marie Guthrie of Cullman; a son, Jordan Guthrie of Cullman; three brothers, Elgin (Bobbie) Guthrie and Elvin Guthrie of Cullman, Harlie Elwin (Cheryl) Guthrie of St. Louis; four sisters, Imogene (Jackie) Nelms and Sherry (Tony) Graves of Cullman, Willodean Jones of Hartselle and Elda Jean (David) Roberson of Pinson; 12 nieces and nephews; and his father- and mother-in-law, Steve and Linda Lanier of Cullman.

He died Sunday, Nov. 24 at UAB Hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 2002 in Jefferson County.

John Thomas Ritschard
Funeral services for John Thomas Ritschard, 53, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Ritschard died Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1949 in Cullman County to Norbert Carl and Margie Pruett Ritschard. He was in civil service communications for the U.S. Government and was a member of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sister, Carolyn (Clois) Burns of Norfolk, Va.; a nephew, Dwain (Debra) Burns of Virginia; and two nieces, Dana (David) Polston of Virginia and Dawn Jacox of Edmond, Okla.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore died Saturday, Nov. 23 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Cullman County to Aquilla and Mae Moore. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Moore of Hanceville; seven daughters, Lisa (Johnny) Fortner of Fairview, Lillian (Dwight) Griffin, Teri (Dale) Pitts, Barbara (Paul) Sansing, Geraldine (Mike) Smith, all of Hanceville, Virginia (J.D.) Landman of Holly Pond, Judy Vineyard of Georgia; two sons, Randy (Angie) Moore of Hanceville and Willie (Valerie) Moore of Good Hope; a brother, Wally Moore of Cullman; six sisters, Nora Lee Mikeal and Omie Quinn of Hanceville, Angie Phillips of Georgia, Trick Winfrey of Shelby County, Francis Marks of Virginia and Jewel Dean Cofer of Blountsville; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Fortner, Dwight Griffin, J.D. Landman, Dale Pitts, Paul Sansing and Mike Smith.

Mrs. Peed died Friday, Nov. 22 on Highway 91 in Hanceville. She was born Feb. 22, 1978 in Birmingham. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Peed of Warrior; two sons, Matthew Kyle Peed and Mitchell Thomas Peed of Warrior; her father, David Charles (Vicky) Dowd II of Elkmont; her mother, Renay (Jim) Blankenship of Gardendale; three brothers, Chris Dowd of Fultondale, Joseph Dowd of Elkmont and Lee Thomas Emond of Gardendale; and grandparents, David Charles (Betty) Dowd of Center Point and John and Shirley Parker of Gardendale.

Mrs. Elliott died Sunday, Nov. 24 in Cullman. She was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Cullman to Lewis Washington and Lillie G. “Johnnie” Warren Ransom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie Elliott; and a daughter, Lillian Marie Watson.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Watson of Hanceville and Janease (John) Wilbanks of Cullman; a sister, Linda Morgan of Cullman; a brother, Wayne Ransom of Hanceville; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Johnson, Aaron Watson Ellinburg, Krystle Wilbanks and Dustin Wilbanks; and four great-grandchildren, Blake, Devon, Ayla and Brianna Johnson.

Huey A. ‘Billy’ McGriff
Funeral services for Huey A. “Billy” McGriff, 75, of Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of Cullman, were Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 at Cross Street Church of Christ, with burial in Highland Cemetery, both in Michigan.

Mr. McGriff died Friday, Nov. 22 at his residence. He was born Feb. 6, 1927 in Cullman. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. On April 2, 1949 he married Mavis Campbell. He was employed by Ford Motor Company, Wayne Assembly for 20 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Cross St. Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Dwaine McGriff; and one grandson, Jeremy Hogston.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis Campbell McGriff; three daughters, Joyce (Denver) Hogston of Crossville, Tenn., Kathy (Danny) Oliver and Marilyn Baum of Ypsilanti; eight grandchildren, James and John Hogston, Brian and Kevin McGriff, Susie and Timmy Baum, Jacob and Aaron Oliver; three great-grandchildren, Kendra, Courtney and Julia Hogston; two brothers, Roy (Nelda) McGriff and Charles (Sylvia) McGriff; and three sisters, Nell (Excel) Saunders, Evelyn (Dennis) Case and Sue Burrow.

Mr. Graves died Monday, Nov. 25 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman County on Dec. 25, 1910 to Dock Denmon and Dorcas Swann Graves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Godfrey Graves; a daughter, Bonnie Graves Godgers; and a brother, Ottis Graves.
Survivors include a son, Leon (Maxine) Graves of Bremen; a brother, Willie Bee Graves of Cold Springs; and two grandchildren, Teresa Sponzarella and Tanya Tucker.

Mr. NeSmith died Sunday, Nov. 24 in Georgia. He was born in Alabama to Ricky Dale and Joan Elizabeth Adams NeSmith. He was a farmer and worked in construction.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris NeSmith; his grandfather, John Adams; and his father, Ricky D. NeSmith.
Survivors include his daughter, Alicia Dale NeSmith of Arab; his mother, Joan NeSmith; his sister, Ammie Dale NeSmith Hill; his grandfather, J.F. NeSmith, all of Blountsville; his grandmother, Mary Gay of Temple, Ga.; a niece, Raven Hill; and a nephew, Skylar Hill, both of Blountsville.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until time of funeral today.
