Eluard “Pete” Smith
Funeral services for Eluard “Pete” Smith, 80, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Vernon Willis and Tommy Graves officiating, with burial in Simcoe Baptist Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith died Friday, Dec. 27, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1922 in Cullman County. He was retired from the North Alabama Sub-Station operated by Auburn University.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Mann Smith; parents, Dewey and Myrtice Miller Smith; son, Donnie Ray Smith; sisters, Christine Smith, Agnes Latham and Evelena Kelly and brother, Leon Smith.
Survivors include two brothers, Rev. Norman R. Smith of Cullman and Rev. David Harvel Smith of Eva; two sisters, Janell Teichmiller and Eloise Linton, both of Cullman and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Saturday.
Samuel Festus Tyree
Funeral services for Samuel Festus Tyree, 74, will be made at a later time by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Daniel Shuford Young, 92, of Cleveland, Tenn., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Enon Cemetery, Larry Nail officiating.

Mr. Young died Saturday, Dec. 28 in Cleveland, Tenn. after a period of declining health. He was born Nov. 26, 1910 in Cleveland County, N.C. to James and Alice Crawley Young. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps based in Smokemont in the 1930s and was a retired construction worker. He was a former resident of Rutherford County and Cullman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, Leroy, Woodrow and Sam Young; and two infant sisters. He also had a brother, Sam Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Strout and Judy Rattler of Asheville, N.C.; a son, Danny Young of Cullman; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Vernell James Stinson
Funeral services for Vernell James Stinson, 74, of Hanceville, formerly of Morgan County, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Livingston Tabernacle Church in Hanceville, the Rev. Nolen Gray officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stinson died Sunday, Dec. 29 in Hanceville. He was born in Falkville on June 27, 1928 to Harvey and Flossie Lindsey Stinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Lewis Stinson of Hanceville; five stepsons, Larry McClung of Oden Ridge, David Dover of Cullman, Greg Dover of Hanceville, Keith Dover of Vinemont, Larry Dover of Garden City; three stepdaughters, Ruth Baker and Betty Hill, both of Oden Ridge, Deborah Drinkard of Hanceville; three sisters, Janette Digman and Shirley Shelton, both of Cullman, and Mildred Jones of Oden Ridge; and two brothers, Bud Stinson of Cullman and Eddie Stinson of Decatur.
Visitation was Monday.
Samuel Festus Tyree
Graveside services for Samuel Festus Tyree, 74, of Chicago will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Julius Guthrie officiating.

Mr. Tyree died Thursday, Dec. 26 at Lewis Weiss Hospital in Chicago. He was born in Arley on Oct. 16, 1928 to John Therman and Maudie Pearlie Adams Tyree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Velma Tyree; a son, Samuel Festus Tyree Jr.; two brothers, Auston M. Tyree and Therman Calvert Tyree; and three sisters, Verna Mae Morton, Dorothy Kilpatrick and Iva Tyree.
Survivors include four sons, Samuel Kenneth (Kennethia) Tyree of Beaumont, Texas, Terrence O. (Becky) Tyree of Louisiana, John T. (Tammy) Tyree of Elgin, Ill., and Andy Tyree of Illinois; a daughter, Linda T. (Donald) Hunter of Cullman; a brother, Aubry O. Tyree of Cullman; a sister, Deliah Rooks of Arley; two half-sisters, Brenda (Dwight) Bennett of Curry and Betty (Idas) Neal of Arley; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Willie Mae Briscoe
Funeral services for Willie Mae Briscoe, 88, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Hugh Thomas and Scott Pattillo officiating, with burial in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Briscoe died Sunday, Dec. 29 at Woodland Village Health Care Center. She was born June 27, 1914 in Morgan County to Charlie Craven and Mary Williamson Harris. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Lewis Briscoe; a son, Jerry Charles Briscoe; and five brothers, Oliver Harris, Everett Harris, Chandler Harris, Clarence Harris and Homer Harris.
Survivors include a son, Hulen (Rachel) Briscoe of Cullman; two daughters, Elsie Faye (Hugh) Stafford of Birmingham and Bobbie Jean (Carl) Hutson of Cullman; a brother, Hubert Harris of Georgia; three sisters, Alice Drinkard, Ada Hendrix and Ruby Jones of Cullman; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday.
Guindale Jean Ragsdale
Funeral services for Guindale Jean Ragsdale, 48, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Rayburn Jones officiating, with burial in Concord Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Ragsdale died Sunday, Dec. 29 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born May 9, 1954 in Cullman County to Buford Lee and Hazel Darnell Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Piper of Cullman; two sons, Edward Ragsdale and Jason Ragsdale, both of Cullman; a daughter, Angie Steelman of Cullman; two brothers, Junior Bonds and Glen Bonds of Cullman; two sisters, Gloria Willingham and Linda McCurley of Cullman; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday.
