Funeral services for Mary Louise Goodno, 74, of Baileyton will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Holly Pond Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Lewis Briscoe officiating, with burial in New Hope No. 2 Cemetery.

Mrs. Goodno died Thursday, Jan. 2 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born in Cullman County on Sept. 29, 1928. She was a retired worker for Goldenrod and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Edith Mae Watts Noles.
Survivors include her husband, J.T. Goodno of Baileyton; two sons, James T. Goodno Jr. and James H. Goodno, both of Baileyton; four sisters, Barbara Bailey of Rome, Ga., Melba Robertson of Powder Springs, Ga., Nettie Hulsey of Leesburg, Ala., and Gerri Kerley of Austell, Ga.s; five grandchildren, Kevin James Goodno, Kerry Wayne Goodno, Shannon Goodno, Nathan Goodno, and Stephanie Goodno; and one great-grandchild, Cody Goodno, all of Baileyton.
Visitation was Thursday.
Vera Lee Knight
Funeral services for Vera Lee Knight, 82, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 3, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Leon Mauldin and Josh Creel officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mrs. Knight died Wednesday at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emett Madison Quick and Mamie Lee Quick Doss; husband, Lewis Knight; daughter, Doris Knight; and brother, Ollie Quick.
Survivors include her sister, Montez Arnold and sister-in-law, Lola Mae Knight.
Visitation was Thursday.
Leonard ‘Orlo’ Summerford
Funeral services for Leonard “Orlo” Summerford, 83, of Eva will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Revs. James Brooks and Billy Gable officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery following a military graveside service.

Mr. Summerford died Wednesday, Jan. 1 in Huntsville. He was born in Morgan Co. on Oct. 18, 1919 to Lonzo and Myrtle Henry Summerford. He was a farmer, construction worker, a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. While in active service during this era, he was held prisoner of war for one year.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lou Summerford; and a sister, Jewel Holloway, both of Eva.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Jermey Wood, Josh Wood, Cale Runge, Ricky Bracken, Loyd Parsons, and Tim Barnett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Jonathan W. ‘Bill’ Hudson
Funeral services for Jonathan W. “Bill” Hudson, 75, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Keith Decker officiating, with burial in Rock Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Medical Center East in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to W.H. and Lucy Ann Feemster Hudson. He was a retired carpenter in home building and a member of Fraternity Lodge No. 145 in Blountsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Jonathan W. Hudson Jr. of Montgomery and Michael Lynn (Diana) Hudson of Blountsville; a granddaughter, Madison Hudson of Blountsville; and two sisters, Lorene Darnell of Pinson and Elene Johnson of Stapelton.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Ruth Conn
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Conn, 86, of Gardendale will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Simcoe Cemetery.

Mrs. Conn died Thursday, Jan. 2 in Gardendale. She was born in Alabama on Nov. 15, 1916 to Charles W. and Lula Cornielus Smith. She was a tailor.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a sister, Ortra Lankford; a stepson, Charles Conn; three nieces; and a nephew.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today.
David Eugene Rodgers Sr.
Funeral services for David Eugene Rodgers Sr., 68, of Cullman were Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Delwin Kilgo officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Rodgers died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at his residence. He was born Sept. 6, 1934 in Cullman County to Buford Joe David and Claudie Mae McKenzie Rodgers. He was a retired water and sewer superintendant, having worked for the city of Cullman for 27 years. He was also a member of the U.S. Navy and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Maxine Knopp.
Survivors include his wife, Betty June Moser Rodgers of Cullman; a son, David E. Rodgers Jr. of Calif.; a daughter, Gloria (Raymond) Williams of Cullman; a brother, Donald Wayne (Reda) Rodgers of Cullman; four sisters, Wedia Ray of Cullman, Linda (Ronnie) Phillips, Jane (Benny) Day and Sharon (Al) Stanley of Albertville; and a grandchild, Kris (Shawn) Todd of Cullman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Fred William Schafer
Funeral services for Fred William Schafer, 77, of Falkville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Dennis Trimble officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mr. Schafer died Thursday, Jan. 2 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Hadar, Neb. He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Freda Rieke Schafer; his brother, Henry Schafer; and his daughter, Julie Schafer.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Daniels Schafer of Falkville; five sons, Jim (Pam) Schafer of Snead, Fred (Sharron) Schafer of Smokerise, Gerald (Donna) Schafer of West Point, John Schafer of Vinemont, and Ricky (Maria) Schafer of Lacon; three daughters, Jeanette (James) Beason of Steele, Janice (Fuller) Smith and Juanita (Tommy) Black, both of Cullman; a brother, Walter (Betty) Schafer of Cullman; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth P. Fowler
Funeral services for Elizabeth P. Fowler, 87, of Piedmont were Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at Mickelsen-McGee Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Gene Howard officiating, with burial in Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Fowler died Monday, Dec. 30 at her residence. She was a native and longtime resident of Piedmont, and had lived in Montgomery for many years while working at Gunter Air Force Base. She was a member of Piedmont First Presbyterian Church, and was a member and former secretary and treasurer of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a published poet through the National Library of Poetry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen C. Fowler; her parents, John Leonidas Adderhold and Annie J. Savage Adderhold; and 13 siblings.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Lively, Jim Decker, Ken Grissom, Ronnie Morgan, Roy Formby, Frank Douthit, and James Decker.
Martha Myers
Funeral services for Martha Myers, 57, of Montgomery, are at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2003 at Dalraida Baptist Church in Montgomery.
Mrs. Myers was one of three medical missionaries killed Dec. 30 at a Baptist mission hospital in Jibla, Yemen.
Bonnie Estelle York

Mrs. York died Friday at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was a house wife and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Preservation Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. York; daughter, Barbara Murphy; son-in-law, David Holmes; and parents Rufus and Nancy Greer Golden.
Survivors include son, Donald (Anne) York of Winston Salem, N.C.; daughter, Shirley Holmes of Cullman; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday.

Survivors include her son, William David (Mary Ellen) Holmes of Eva; daughters, Elaine (Joel) Slaten of Eva and Martha Jane (Wayne) Wisner of Springhill; sister, Flora Kellem of Eva; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
