Funeral services for Janet Faith Ivey, 57, of Cullman are at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Doug Smith and Darrell Kimbril officiating, with burial in New Hope #2 Cemetery at Holly Pond.

Mrs. Ivey died Friday at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl McKenzie; and husband, William Alton Ivey.
Survivors include her son, Danny (Laura) Ivey of Fairview; daughters Tina (Kent) Brown of Brooklyn; Tonya (Darrell) Kimbril of Vinemont; sister June (Cordis) Brannan of Fairview; mother, Bessie Wright McKenzie; grandchildren, Shannon (Bo) Black, Adam Kimbril, Anna Ivey and Heath Ivey; great-grandchild, Alexia Black.

Funeral services for Silas L. “Woody” Woodard, 86, of Arley are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at Liberty Baptist Church, Patrick Cleghorn officiating, with burial in Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Woodard died Thursday at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. and Matilda Clark Woodard; and his wife, Claudellen Woodard.
Survivors include daughters, Alma Faye Fenk of Hanceville and Rosaetta Shockley of Arley.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Gilliland died Saturday, Jan. 4. She was born April 11, 1922 to Wiliam and Narcie Dyer Spradlin. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew H. Gilliland; two sons, Billy Gilliland and Tommy Gilliland; three brothers, Rufus, Cleo and John Spradlin; three sisters, Gertrude Spradlin, Clara Spradlin and Berda Snow; and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Gail) Gilliland and Jerry Gilliland, both of Cullman; three daughters, Martha (Charles) Brown, Brenda Moore of Cullman and Barbara (Wayne) Armstrong of Hanceville; a brother, Mac (Athelene) Spradlin of Mt. Olive; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hill died Saturday, Jan. 4 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1941 in Morgan County to James Albert and Ella Lee Owens Callahan. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Callahan and Franklin Callahan; and three sisters, Lucy Childers, Edna Callahan and Mattie Reeves.
Survivors include a son, James Hill of Lacey’s Spring; a daughter, Jennifer Collier of Cullman; a brother, Robert Callahan of Hartselle; two sisters, Pauline Maples and Janet Eddy, both of Hartselle; and a grandson, Dustin Smith.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Eddy, Shane Beasley, Ronnie Reeves, Adam Massey, Samuel Massey and Shane McCormick.

Edward Olsie Gunter
Funeral services for Edward Olsie Gunter, 89, of Blountsville were Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Calvary Baptist Church of Blountsville, the Revs. Clatus Nesmith, Jimmy Wadsworth and Johnny Hudson officiating, with burial in Gunter Cemetery. The body lay in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Gunter died Saturday, Jan. 4 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born June 10, 1913 in Brooksville. He was a pioneer in egg and poultry farming. He was a prize-winning pumpkin grower, a basket maker and a woodworker. He was a charter member of Alabama Farm Bureau, a past president of the Blount County Alabama Farm Bureau, a charter member of Gold Kist Poultry and a founding director of the Farmers Mutual Exchange in Blountsville, which along with other corporations became the Gold Kist Poultry Co. In the early years of Blount County farming, Mr. Gunter served as one of the few cotton graders and cotton surveyors for Blount County and the surrounding communities. He was a Democrat and a Blount County Committee member for many years for the Agriculture Soil Conservation. He was an innovative soil/grass contractor, a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and an active member since the 1930s of the Blount County Baptist Association. He appeared at gospel singings and church revivals throughout the state.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Millwood Gunter; his parents, Walter and Roberta Hudson Gunter; a brother, Jiles Washington Gunter; and four sisters, Eula Stracener, Ila Millwood, Effie Plunkett and Lilyie Allison.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Gunter; a brother, Will (Lethia) Gunter; a sister, Bernice Corvin; four grandsons, Mike (Lisa) Mead, Marty Mead, Matt (Melia) Mead, Marc (Cheri) Mead; and four great-grandchildren, Micayla, Marshall, Mason and Hannah Mead.
Visitation was Sunday.
Sandra Kay Nichols ‘Sno’ Osborn
Funeral services for Sandra Kay Nichols “Sno” Osborn, 54, of Birmingham were Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Gardendale Chapel, with burial in Corinth Cemetery in Cullman County.

Mrs. Osborn died Dec. 29, 2002. She retired from BellSouth after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her father, K.C. Nichols.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Gary G. Osborn; a daughter, Kimberly Nicole “Nikki” Osborn; her mother, Evia Wolfe Nichols of Bremen; two brothers, Charles Nichols of Jacksonville, Fla. and Gary (Kay) Nichols of Bremen; and two sisters, Shelby (Johnny) Myers of Center Point and Teresa (Roy) Dickerson of Bremen.
Rev. Bufus Huel Bennett
Funeral services for the Rev. Bufus Huel Bennett, 87, of Jackson were Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Union Baptist Church near Grove Hill, the Revs. Marion Ball and Richard Bailey officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Bennett died Saturday, Jan. 4 at Jackson Health Care Facility. He was a native of Cullman and a resident of Grove Hill. He was a retired Baptist minister, having served several local churches in Clarke County. He last served at Hopewell Baptist Church in Chilton. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church near Jackson.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Bennett of Grove Hill and Raymond Bennett of Jackson; a daughter, Brenda Salter of Lucedale, Miss.; two brothers, J.C. and Royce Bennett of Cullman; three sisters, Shirley Waddell, Faye Green and Katherine Maddux, all of Cullman; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby Salter, Wayne Salter, Robert Denton, Scottie Bennett, Lem Dubose and Jerry Clark.
Honorary pallbearers were the Adult Men’s Sunday School class of Union Baptist Church, Ralph Paul and Rex Padgett.
