Noble B. ‘Pete’ Holland
Funeral services for Noble B. “Pete” Holland, 83, of Crane Hill, are at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Moss Funeral Chapel; with burial in Mt. Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery in Hulaco.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holland died Friday, March 14 at Veterans Hospital in Birmingham. He was born April 10, 1919 to John Foster and Almedia Edmondson Holland. He was a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son, Walter Curtis (Ethel) Holland of Crane Hill; his daughter, Shirley Jean Harbison of Noblesville, Ind.; two sisters, Effie Christine Thornton of Michigan and Bertha Marie (Thurman) Dial of Mt. Olive; six grandchildren, Laura Holland, Christy Leigh, Curtis Holland Jr., Sonya Harbison, Ricky S. Harbison and Mickey Harbison; and 11 great-grandchildren, Myrriah Goodwin, Richard Sharpton, Jannie Sharpton, Stehanie Harbison, Lucus Harbison, Matthew Harbison, Jonathan Gaskin, Jared Gaskin, Makenna Gaskin, B.J. Sharpton and Ashley Sharpton.

Visitation is 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Linda Darnell Mullins

Funeral services for Linda Darnell Mullins, 57, of Hanceville, are at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home, Paul Knighten officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins died Friday, March 14, 2003 at her residence. She was born June 23, 1945 in Floydada, Texas, to Thelbert and Aliee M. James Banks. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Grady T. Mullins of Hanceville; her son, Grady O. Mullins of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Joquitta (Randy) Posay and Shannon (Jerry) Perkins, both of Cullman; a brother, Thelbert Ray Banks of Boham, Texas; a sister, Kay Perkins of Honey Grove, Texas; two grandsons, Hunter and Jaydon Perkins of Cullman; and a granddaughter, Taylor Perkins of Cullman.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Alton Boyd Chandler

Funeral services for Alton Boyd Chandler, 80, of Vinemont, are at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Chapel, Frank Wood officiating, with burial in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chandler died Saturday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman Feb. 16, 1923 to Elbert Arthur and Ella Beatrice Morgan Chandler. He was a farmer and feed maker for West Point Feed Mill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elbert Floyd Chandler, Harvey Chandler, Barney Chandler and Othell Chandler; and two sisters, Ruth and Almer Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kathleen Chandler of Vinemont; two brothers, Clarence Worth Chandler of Cullman and Doice Arthur Chandler of Faulkville; a sister, Magoline Smith of Berlin; sister-in-law, Mavanell Chandler; and special friend, Harlin Conn.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Allen Daniel Washburn

Funeral services for Allen Daniel Washburn, 74, of Blountsville, are at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Home, Clatus Nesmith and Bruce Dial officiating, with burial in South Cemetery near Blounsville.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Washburn died Saturday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County to Ruben William and Mary Ethel McWhorter Washburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Washburn of Blountsville; two sons, Scott (Donna) Washburn of Blountsville and Johnny (Annette) Washburn of Nectar; two sisters, Alene Hitt of Blountsville and Lorene Thomason of Missouri; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Syble E. Bryan
Graveside services for Syble E. Bryan, 69, of Lacey’s Spring will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Cullman City Cemetery, the Rev. Morris Nunnelly officiating.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bryan died Monday, March 17 at her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1933 in Alabama to Arthur and Inez Brooks Saffold. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell W. Bryan; and her parents.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Georgia Buchannan of Guntersville, Nelda Ree Gaddis of Union Grove and Jean Pannell of Lacey’s Spring; a brother-in-law, Robert Pannell of Lacey’s Spring; an aunt, Wynalle Bonds of Cullman; and a goddaughter, Diane Lee.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today.

Melba E. Mullins

Funeral services for Melba E. Mullins, 78, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Moss Service Funral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins died Saturday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 5, 1924 to Athey Oful and Rosa Bell Vest Tucker. She was a salesperson and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herrell Mullins; and her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Doyle) West of Georgia; two brothers, Alva (Bernice) Tucker and Milton Harold (Frances) Tucker, both of Cullman; two sisters, Hilda Oneal of Gadsden and Fay Hartline of California; two grandchildren, Nina (Terry) Hale and Mark (Tracy) West; and three great-grandchildren, Emily Hale, Lantz West and Justin West.

Visitation was Sunday and Monday.

Edith Braswell Owens Cone

Funeral services for Edith Braswell Owens Cone, 86, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Mt. Vernon West Methodist Church, Gary Milligan and Al Barton officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cone died Monday, March 17 at her residence. She was born Aug. 5, 1916 in Cullman County to Thomas and Flara Cole Braswell. She was a machine operator for Cullman Lingerie and a member of Ole Time Way Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frankie Owens; three brothers, Freeman, Olan and Braxton Braswell; and three sisters, Elmie Powell, Estore Jennings and Buran Braswell.

Survivors include her husband, Roland Fletcher Cone of Cullman; a son, Garvous (Betty) Owens of Vinemont; two stepsons, Marlin (Christine) Cone of Hanceville and Jerry (Myra) Cone of West Point; two daughters, Myrna (Jimmy Ray) Tuggle of Addison and Sylvia (Gary) Milligan of West Point; three stepdaughters, Freda (Euell) Bartlett of Vinemont and Othelia (Joe) Hitt and Dorothy Basinger of Hanceville; a brother, Noah Braswell; a sister, Audie Echols; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Louise Clara Dooley

Funeral services for Louise Clara Dooley, 77, of Dallas, Texas, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating, with burial in Missionary Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dooley died Saturday, March 15 in Dallas. She was born April 17, 1926 in New York City to Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher. She was a retired secretary for Crum and Foster Insurance.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Dooley of Dallas; two sons, Robert Paul (Laura) Hess of California and William (Paula) Hess of Tennessee; two daughters, Barbara Jennings and Louise Emily Hess of New Jersey; a sister, Erenstine (Jim) Beckley of Connecticut; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Linda Darnell Mullins

Funeral services for Linda Darnell Mullins, 57, of Hanceville, were Monday, March 17, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home, Paul Knighten officiating.

Harold ‘Papa Harold’ Haun Aldridge

Funeral services for Harold “Papa Harold” Haun Aldridge, 76, of Danville will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Peck Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Buddie R. Brown, Harold Thompson and Russ Almedia officiating, with burial in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Aldridge died Sunday, March 16 at his residence. He was a member of the Neel United Methodist Church. He was an active member of Gideons International for 25 years. He began a jail ministry 20 years ago in the Morgan County penal system. This progressed into a ministry which moved to Limestone Correctional Facility where he was known by hundreds of prisoners as “Papa Harold.” The chapel at Limestone Correctional Facility is named after him.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Aldridge.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Dean Aldridge of Danville; his mother, Mabel Olive McCulley Aldridge; two sons, Gary Aldridge and Doyne Aldridge, both of Decatur; a daughter, Dara Dianne Carnell of Danville; three brothers, Burch Aldridge of Slidell, La., Milton Aldridge of Decatur and James Aldridge of Florence; a sister, Hilda Barnette of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Limestone Correctional Facility Chapel Fund, 1298 Parker Road S.E., Hartselle, AL 35640.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Allen Daniel Washburn

Funeral services for Allen Daniel Washburn, 74, of Blountsville were Monday, March 17, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Clatus NeSmith and Bruce Dial officiating, with burial in South Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Washburn died Saturday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County to Ruben William and Mary Ethel McWhorter Washburn. He was a retired mechanist for Speed Ring, Inc. in Cullman. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Wright Washburn of Blountsville; two sons, Scott (Donna) Washburn of Blountsville and Johnny (Annette) Washburn of Nectar; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alene Hitt of Blountsville and Lorene Thomason of Missouri.

Pallbearers were Jason Washburn, Tyson Washburn, Chad Washburn, Donny Hitt, Mike Washburn and Howard McBrayer.

Visitation was Monday.
