Ransom Dewayne Self

Funeral services for Ransom Dewayne Self, 61, of Clewiston, Fla. will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Akin-Davis Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Luis Calderon officiating, with burial in Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Akin-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Self died Sunday, March 16 following a long illness. He was a native of Cullman until moving to Florida in 1981. He was the owner and operator of a convenience store in Clewiston.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Self.

Survivors include his wife, Maria T. Self of Clewiston; three sons, Steven Dewayne Self of Cullman, Christopher Clay Self and Matthew Kelly Self, both of Clewiston; four daughters, Karen McCluskey of Cullman, Penny Barton and Mary Lou Self of Clewiston and Renee Sauls of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Gary Self and Dwight Self of Cullman; and 10 grandchildren.

Cary Blane Dutton
Funeral services for Cary Blane Dutton, 38, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Fr. Kevin McGrath officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dutton died Monday, March 17 at his residence. He was born May 8, 1964 in Cullman to Earnest Junior and Talithia Elizabeth Griffin Dutton. He was an electronics technologist.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Hicks Dutton; a daughter, Katy Dutton; a son, Andrew Dutton; a sister, Sherry Day; two brothers, Rickey Dutton and Terry Dutton; his mother; his grandmother, Ezell Hanbey; three nephews and four nieces.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Mary Ilene Ogletree Self

Funeral services for Mary Ilene Ogletree Self, 73, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Danny Young officiating, with burial in Bowman Chapel Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Self died Monday, March 17 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. She was born Aug. 12, 1929 to Oliver and Ora Worden Ogletree. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Self; and her sister, Evelyn Hendrix.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Self (Steve) Fultz of Cullman and Sheila Self (Alan) House of Fultondale; a sister, Alice Young of Arkadelphia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Elva Sanford Jackson

Funeral services for Elva Sanford Jackson, 87, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Lynn Perkins officiating, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jackson died Tuesday, March 18 at her residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1916 in Cullman County to John Wesley and Lydia Stisher Sanford. She was a retired school teacher in the Cullman County school system.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl F. Jackson; a brother, Ethridge Sanford; and three sisters, Era Alldredge, Tressie Bailey and Virgie Harrison.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann (Jerry) Bishop of Cullman; a granddaughter, Jillion (fiancé Paul Hollis) Bishop of Cullman; a brother-and sister-in-law, Ralph and Marjorie Kohlenhoefer of Milton, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Estelle Sanford Shoemaker of Holly Pond; and special friend, Magoline Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Linda Darnell Mullins

Funeral services for Linda Darnell Mullins, 57, of Hanceville, were Monday, March 17, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home, Paul Knighten officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mullins died Friday, March 14, 2003 at her residence. She was born June 23, 1945 in Floydada, Texas, to Thelbert and Alice M. James Banks. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Grady T. Mullins of Hanceville; a son, Grady O. Mullins of Las Vegas; two daughters, Joquitta (Randy) Posey and Shannon (Jerry) Perkins, both of Cullman; a brother, Thelbert Ray Banks of Boham, Texas; a sister, Kay Jones of Honey Grove, Texas; two grandsons, Hunter and Jayden Perkins of Cullman; and a granddaughter, Taylor Perkins of Cullman.

Visitation was Sunday.

Robert Marin Rogers Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Marin Rogers Sr., 85, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rogers died Saturday, March 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 3, 1918 in Merida, Mexico to José Maria and Micaela Marin Rojas. He was a retired engineer for Conoco Oil Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army/Air Force, having served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Judith Rivas.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Inez Gomez Rogers of Cullman; two sons, Robert Marin (Virginia) Rogers Jr. of Montana and José Michael Rogers of Arizona; five daughters, Linda (Richard) Oney of West Virginia, Anita Tosti of Maryland, Patricia Susan (Rolando) Zaguirre of Texas, Marlene (John) Koster of Arizona and Diana Lynn Rogers of California; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gordon ‘Butch’ M. Noel

Funeral services for Gordon “Butch” M. Noel, 61, of Blountsville were Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Susan Moore, Bob Smallwood and John Killian officiating, with burial in South Cemetery near Blountsville. The body lay in state one hour prior to the service.

Blountsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Noel died Saturday, March 15 at Medical Center Blount in Oneonta. He was born in Jefferson County to Gordon S. and Jewel E. Hughes Noel. He was a self-employed general contractor and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Michelle Price ; and his father, Gordon S. Noel.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Trammell Noel of Blountsville; a son, Stephen Mark Noel; a daughter, Marie (George) Criss; a son-in-law, Joel Price ; his mother, Jewel E. Hughes Noel of Blountsville; two sisters, Segried A. (Marvin) Ayers and Linda L. Smith, both of Blountsville; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Marie) Bass, Jason Bass, Joel Price II, Christopher Price, Caleb Noel and Katie Criss; a great-granddaughter, Marcella Noel Bass; and foster children, Josh (Jackie) Snell and his daughter, Dasey, Johnny Snell and Billy Snell.

Pallbearers were William “Billy” Smith, James Seadler, Joel Price, Jeremy Bass, Jason Bass and Kerry Bass.

Honorary pallbearers were Allen Bell, Jerry Meadows, James Givens and Marvin Ayers.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Wanda Lee Leopard
Funeral services for Wanda Lee Leopard, 55, of Cullman, are at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003 at Williams-McCracken chapel, Greg Story and Tim Dubberly officiating, with burial in Livingston Chapel Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leopard died Monday, March 17. She was born Dec. 20, 1947 in Cullman to Judge Verbon and Clora Calvert Fulenwidner. She was an assistant teacher at Cullman City Schools.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur C. Leopard of Cullman; her mother; three sons, Clay Leopard of Mt. Olive, Steve (Tina) Leopard of Spring Hill, La. and Mitch Leopard of Dalton, Ga.; her daughter, Charlotte Boone of Cullman; two brothers, Danny Fulenwidner and David Fulenwidner, both of Cullman; and four grandchildren, Skye Leopard, Tessa Leopard, Toni Leopard, all of Cullman, and Caroline Leopard of Spring Hill, La.,

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Simcoe Worship Center.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bobby Gene Wise

Funeral services for Bobby Gene Wise, 65, of Cullman, are at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 at New Prospect Baptist Church, Ray Ponder and Donald Lee Abbott officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wise died Sunday, March 18 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 11, 1937 in Cullman County to Ottis and Juanita Daniels Wise. He was a baker and shipper for Merita Bread Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Billy M. Wise.

Survivors include his brother, Billy (Ruth) Wise of Cullman; a sister, Nelda (Kenneth) McClendon of Hanceville; two nephews, three nieces, eight great-nephews and three great-nieces.

Visitation was Wedneday.

Billy L. Murphree

Funeral services for Billy L. Murphree, 72, of Holly Pond are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Elmo Atkins

Funeral services for Raymond Elmo Atkins, 76, of Hanceville, are at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, Leon Mauldin and Brian Hawkins officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery in Eva.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Atkins died Tuesday, March 18 at his residence. He was born Oct. 21, 1926 to Thomas and Katie Vogel Atkins. He was self-employed as a floor covering installer. He was in the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and was a member of the VFW. He was a former member of Westview Church of Christ in Hartselle and was a member of Hanceville Church of Christ. He had worked at Gougler Machine in Ravenna, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Luella Atkins of Hanceville; his son, Paul Thomas Atkins of Cullman; two daughters, Shirley Arnett of Cullman and Kelly Harris of Decatur; a brother, Max Atkins of Cullman; a sister, Nell Brown of Falkville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Life Care Hospice of Cullman.

Pallbearers will be Paul Atkins, Bill Harris, Todd Floyd, Steve Arnett, David Ortiz and Bobby Joe Atkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Denver Mason, Robert Jones, Bill Ryan, Jim Ballard and Paul Weinman.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
