Services for Marie Schaffer Whittle, 78, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at Center Grove Baptist Church, Jerry Hall officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Whittle died Monday, Dec. 31 at her residence. She was born Sept. 2, 1923 to John and Maggie Bauer Schaffer. She was retired from Golden Rod.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Henry “Joe” (Loren) Williams and James Edward “Eddie” (Barbara) Williams; a daughter, Joyce “Joy” Williams Rodgers; six brothers, Fred Schaffer of Barrington, Ill., Martin Schaffer of Miami, Fla., Raymond Schaffer and Herbert Schaffer, both of Cullman, William Schaffer of Apple Springs, Texas and Joe Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Frances Schaffer Snyder of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Shan Rodgers, Stacey Rodgers Looney, Angela Williams Cobb, Larry Williams, JaCynthia Williams, Regina Williams Smith, Jeff Williams and Sabrina Williams Hopper; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be given at Moss Service Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Fr. John O’Donnell officiating.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Essie Evelyn Clayton
Services for Essie Evelyn Clayton, 75, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Huey Hartselle and Jack Smith officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Clayton died Sunday, Dec. 30 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1926 to Amos Lloyd and Cara Ann Bates Smith. She was a beautician and a member of the Fourth Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Kenneth Chalmer Clayton.
Survivors include a brother, Homer Smith; two sisters, Myrtle H. Bradford and Ethel M. Jones; three nieces; and three nephews.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Arnold Raines
Services for Arnold Raines, 70, of Houston were Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Nichols Funeral Chapel, Tim Box officiating, with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Raines died Saturday, Dec. 29 at Hendrix Health Care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Ellie Raines.
Survivors include two brothers, Marvin Raines of Cullman and Roy Raines of Vinemont; and a sister, Mildred Sexton of Addison.
Regina Mae Pounders
Services for Regina Mae Pounders, 54, of Decatur were Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Roselawn Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Jackie Pounders and Mark Pounders officiating, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
Roselawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pounders died Saturday, Dec. 29 at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1947 to Jewel and Flossie Nelson Burns. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Pounders of Decatur; a daughter, Vania Schwaiger of Cullman; her mother, Flossie Burns of Decatur; a brother, Ralph Burns of Decatur; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Pounders, Tom Bradley, Ron Gray, David Schwaiger, Landon Bradley and Mark Pounders.
Visitation was Monday.
Dewey J. Green e
Graveside services for Dewey J. Green e, 64, of Beaufort, S. C. will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at the Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors.

Gunnery Sergeant Green e died Sunday Dec. 30 at Hilton Head Medical Center. He was born Aug. 21, 1937 in Ryan to Dewey Oran and Ethel Ward Green e. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant, having served two tours in Vietnam. He was a former drill instructor at Parris Island, S.C. He was a member of the VFW Post 8760. He was formerly employed at National Waterlift in Beaufort.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sedako Itoman Green e of Beaufort; and four sisters, Nell Kelley and Dorothy Cox, both of Pasadena, Texas, and Betty Harper and Ceidell Green e, both of Cullman.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Loretta Joyce Curtis
Loretta Joyce Curtis, 58, of Waldenburg, Ark. died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born Oct. 7, 1943. She was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Curtis and Anna Hamby.
Survivors include four sons; three daughters; three sisters, Grace Turner of Clare, Mich., Edith Cantwell of Hanvellen and Lella Stevenson of Boonesville, Miss.; and three brothers, Junior Curtis and R.C. Curtis, both of Trumann and Allen Curtis.

Mrs. Goodwin died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1909 to William and Annie Fowler Floyd. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Eulys Goodwin.
Survivors include two sons, Ormand (June) Goodwin and Jerry (Brenda) Goodwin; a daughter, Bobbie (Gene) Runge; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Glenn died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County on June 1, 1933 to Robert Lee and Bannie Tankersley Glenn. He was an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Omie Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Carlie Wise Glenn of Cullman; son, Doyle Wayne “Buster” Glenn of Cullman; two daughters, Shirley (Bobby) Chambers, Melinda (Scott) Torbert both of Cullman; one brother, Roy (Ruby) Glenn of Cullman; eight sisters, Ruthie Burrow, Vernie Segers, Eva (Otis) Phillips, Obera (Alton) McKinney, Ola Jean (John) Wright, Tressie Dean Wright all of Cullman, Willodean (Jerry) Young of Decatur, Patricia (Larry) Abercrombie of Scottsboro; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
Minnie Marie Champion
Minnie Marie Champion, 73, of Vinemont died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
