Harold W. ‘Boots’ Summerford
Services for Harold W. “Boots” Summerford, 87, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at Falkville First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kenneth Weldon officiating, with burial in Falkville City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Summerford died Monday, Feb. 4 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born April 9, 1914 to Edward Turner and Kittie Mae Brown Summerford. He owned and operated a general merchandise store in Falkville for 30 years. He was a member of the Falkville United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Homer T. Summerford and Howard O. Summerford.
Survivors include his wife, Alice T. Summerford of Falkville; two sons, Jerry Summerford of Madison and Phillip Summerford of Falkville; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Anders, James E. Nelson, Mal Patterson, J.J. “Jr”. Summerford, Jack Summerford and Robert Summerford.
Memorials may be made to the Falkville First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Timothy Derk Pack
Services for Timothy Derk Pack, 33, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. George Redding officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Pack died Saturday, Feb. 2 in Houston, Texas. He was born Nov. 9, 1968 in Cullman to Eddie Dean and Glenda Watson Pack. He was a roofer.
Survivors include his father, Eddie Dean (Martha) Pack of Falkville; his mother, Glenda Pack of Cullman; a brother, Anthony Pack of Montgomery; and a sister, Laura (Patrick) Brock of Cullman.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Ray S. Thomas
Services for Ray S. Thomas, 76, of Center Hill will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, the Rev. Jack Nelson officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas died Monday, Feb. 4 at his residence. He was born in Blountsville on Dec. 19, 1925 to Eugene and Lilie Helms Thomas. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Webster, Dewey, Onis, Clark, Whaley and Merrit Thomas; and a grandson, Wesley Leipert.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Watson Thomas of Hanceville; three daughters, Shirley (Chuck) Croft of Atlanta, Ga., Joyce (Kyle) Crumbley and Carolyn Stitcher, both of Hanceville; two sons, Charles Ray (Virginia) Thomas of West Point and Dwight Earl Thomas of Hanceville; two sisters, Blanta Glass of Hanceville, Rachel Whitman of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four brothers, Dennis Thomas and Hobert Thomas, both of Center Hill, Leonard Thomas of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Roscoe Thomas of Holly Pond; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Norman Emil Parker
Graveside services for Norman Emil Parker, 74, of Cullman will be at noon Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Parker died Monday, Feb. 4 at Cullman Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 1, 1927 to Clyde and Lela Mae Nix Parker. He was a retired worker for the city of Cullman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Levis Parker.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Donaldson of Leesville, La. and Yvonne Garner of Columbus, Ga.; five sisters, Sue Bennett, Ruanette Mashburn, Jean Whaley, Louise Tubbs and Wynelle Hesterley; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. today.
Dewayne ‘Butch’ Schmuck
Services for Dewayne “Butch” Schmuck, 38, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Holly Pond City Cemetery.

He died Saturday, Feb. 2 at his residence. He was born Oct. 11, 1963 in Alabama to Louis Francis and Norma Vance Schmuck. He was a carpenter for construction.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother; and his sister, Dianna Schmuck.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
George W. Sweatman

Mr. Sweatman died Monday, Feb. 4 at Carraway Medical Center. He was born in Blount County to John and Alma Wisener Sweatman. He was an inspector for M & J Materials and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hubert (Louise) Sweatman and Ray H. Sweatman.
Survivors include three sons, Lynn Sweatman, Robert (Susan) Sweatman and Preston Sweatman, all of Cleveland; two sisters, Mary McCay and Jean Sweatman, both of Cleveland; a brother, Hayden (Elsie) Sweatman of Center Point; and five grandchildren.
Jewell Mae Peek
Services for Jewell Mae Peek, 92, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Ms. Peek died Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born July 12, 1909 in Alabama to William Rubin and Mattie Mae Lindsey Peek. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a sister, Ola Burgess; two sisters-in-law, Winona Lindsey and Racine Peek; and a brother-in-law, Samuel Mardis.

Clara Mae Burkart
Services for Clara Mae Burkart, 89, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville, the Rev. John Jankens officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Burkart died Monday, Feb. 4 at her residence. She was born in the Damascus community on July 8, 1912 to Oscar and Maude Cantrell Compton. She was a long-time history teacher at Hanceville High School and was a graduate of Florence College and Vanderbilt University (formerly Peabody College), where she received her master’s degree in education. She was recently honored by PIES (Partners in Educational Support) for her lifetime commitment to her students and their education.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George Burkart Sr.
Survivors include her son, George (Robin) Burkart of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Sharon Burkart of Atlanta, Ga., Suzanne (David) Crutcher of Mooresville, N.C., David (Stephanie) Burkart of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Ethel Muse of Killen; and brother, Darrell Compton of Cullman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the either Trinity Lutheran Church of Hanceville of Lifecare Hospice, Cullman.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Odell Sandlin
Services for Odell Sandlin, 79, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Harce Swann and Theron Robinson officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Mrs. Sandlin died Tuesday, Feb. 5 at a Birmingham hospital. She was born on May 14, 1922 to Jackson and Ludie Byrd Milligan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Timothy Sandlin.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Jack Sandlin of Hanceville; her son, Ted (Pat) Sandlin of Cullman; three grandchildren, Kim Greathouse of Warrior; Steve (Elizabeth) Sandlin of Hanceville and Gary (Tammy) Sandlin of Brushy Pond; and two great-grandsons, Joseph and Jonathan Sandlin, both of Hanceville.

Carolyn Ann McReath
Services for Carolyn Ann McReath, 52, of Falkville will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at Miracle Church of Jesus Christ, the Rev. James Watts officiating, with burial in Bell Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. McReath died Tuesday, Feb. 5 at her residence. She was born in Morgan County on April 21, 1949 to James Stanley and Donna Marie Russel Looney. She was a homemaker and attended Miracle Church of Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her mother; her husband, Jerry McReath of Falkville; son, Allen (Cindy) McReath of Cullman; two daughters, Angie (Billy) Marlow of Vinemont, Pam (James) Terry of Falkville; brother, Lavon Looney of Falkville; sister, Wilma (James) Watts of Falkville; and seven grandchildren, David Marlow, Christopher Marlow, Crystal Terry, Renea McReath, Lil. James Terry, Hannah McReath, Kayla Marlow.

Ruby Lee Young

Mrs. Young died Monday, Feb. 4 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born and raised in Blount County to Lee and Mary F. Wigginton Haynes. She lived most of her married life in Center Point, where she was a member of 25th Avenue Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grady Elmer Young; and a daughter, Brenda Sexton.
Survivors include her son, Charles R. (Betty Jean) Young of Blountsville; daughter-in-law, Karen (Greg) Crauswell of Trafford; sister, Imolene Ellis of Georgia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
