Veda Louise Vincent
Services for Veda Louise Vincent, 84, of Baileyton, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at Welcome Baptist Church, with burial in Bethel Methodist Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vincent died Tuesday, Feb. 26 at her residence. She was born July 24, 1917 in Alabama to H.G. and Nancy Louise Standridge Cornett. She was a lunchroom worker at Fairview High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Vincent and Max Vincent; two brothers, Homer Cornett and Lewis Cornett; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Shirley Ann Chambers Doughty

Services for Shirley Ann Chambers Doughty, 55, of Fairhope, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Johnny Emmerson and Slate Moore officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doughty died Monday, Feb. 25 at her residence. She was born July 19, 1946 in Cullman to Idus and Mittie Mae Aldridge Chambers. She was an inspector for Vanity Fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Chambers; and two sisters, Edith Prince and Marlene Paschal.

Survivors include her husband, William Jerry Doughty of Fairhope; a daughter, Julie Doughty of Daphne; three brothers, J.V. “Barnie” Chambers and Leldon Chambers, both of Cullman, and Lil “Bo” Chambers of Gardendale; and a sister, Doris Prince of Colombia, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Hershel Voight Talley

Services for Hershel Voight Talley, 81, of Baileyton will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2002 at Lystra Baptist Church, the Rev. Clenon Shedd officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Talley died Wednesday, Feb. 27 at his residence. He was born in Cullman on Jan. 17, 1921 to W.V. and Trudie Pricilla Pesnell Talley. He was self employed as a cattleman and Tennessee Walking Horse trainer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Montgomery, Gloria Sue Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Smith Talley of Baileyton; son, Van Buren Talley of Baileyton; two daughters, Nanette Talley (Eddie) Clark, Priscilla Ann Talley and her fiance Billy Randall both of Baileyton; three sisters, Wynell Talley Stapler, Ozell Talley Huddleston, Wavoline Talley Huddleston; and two grandchildren, Tyler Clark and Anna Clark.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Audie Lynn Cramer

Services for Audie Lynn Cramer, 75, of Centreville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2002 at Center Point Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Hoome is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cramer died Tuesday, Feb. 26 at her residence. She was born in Cullman County on March 20, 1926 to W.R. “Willie” and Elsie Weeks. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her husband, Tony Cramer.

Survivors include her mother; son, James (Shelia) Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Trella (Roy) Kinney of Hoquiam, Wash., Betty (Marvis) Nichols of Centreville; three brothers, Wesley Owen Weeks, William Maurice Weeks, James Earnie Weeks all of Cullman; two sisters, Lucy Fraley, JoAnn Castleberry both of Cullman; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Christopher Marvin Oden

Services for Christopher Marvin Oden, 24, of Vinemont, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Rayburn Jones officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oden died Tuesday, Feb. 26. He was born May 22, 1977 in Concordia Paris, La.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Curtis Oden Sr.

Survivors include his parents, Tradford and Margaret Runge of Vinemont; a son, Payton Hunter of Blountsville; four brothers, John (Jean) Oden Jr. of Warrior, Eddie (Sandra) Oden, Bobby (Tracy) Oden and B.J. (Carri) Oden, all of Cullman; three nieces, Norafaye Oden, Jordan Oden and Tiffany Oden; and six nephews, J.C. Oden, Todd Phillips, Joe Oden, Josh Phillips, Billy Oden and Blake Phillips.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joseph Bachmuth

Memorial services for Joseph Bachmuth, 74, of Cullman, were Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bachmuth succumbed to cancer Saturday, Feb. 23 at UAB Hospital. He was born in New York City, N.Y. on May 15, 1927.He was the owner of Cullman Industries, Inc. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Rucks Bachmuth; a brother, Walter Bachmuth of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Lillian Diane Bachmuth of Houston, Texas and Pamela Bachmuth of Birmingham; Vince and Suzanne Quick and Donald Jones, all of Cullman; and Kerry and Kelly Dockery of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Lindsey, Eric and Alex.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma fund.

Ila Louise Day

Services for Ila Louise Day, 80, of Hanceville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. J.B. Snider and Dr. David McGowin officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Day died Tuesday, Feb. 26 at her residence. She was born March 8, 1921 in Morgan County to Gordon and Pearl Payne Sandlin. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Mayburn Day.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Larry) Cornelius of Hanceville; two sons, Freddie (Judy) Day of Cullman and Larry (Joyce) Day of Delphois, Ohio; five brothers, Alton Sandlin and Gerald Sandlin, both of Cullman, Billy Sandlin, Jack Sandlin and Charles Sandlin, all of Hanceville; five grandchildren, Molly (Chad) Argood, Kenneth (Tammy) Cornelius, Mark (Amy) Cornelius, Brent Day and Shawn (Tim) Schiehl; and two great-grandchildren, Noah Argood and Garrett Cornelius.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Wilson Harry Speer

Services for Wilson Harry Speer, 71, of Houston, were Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002 at Houston Baptist Church, Donnie Carroll, Bobby Smith and Jeffery Wiggins officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Speer died Monday, Feb. 25 at Walker Baptist Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Speer.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Speer; two daughters, Vouncille Tuggle of Nesmith and Deliah Millican of Thatch; six grandchildren; a brother, Waymon Speer of Houston; and a sister, Dianne Wiggins of Addison.

Evis Sullins
Services for Evis Sullins, 88, of Vinemont, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Bell Springs Baptist Church, Ralph Henderson and Junior Brown officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sullins died Thursday, Feb. 28 at Cullman Long Term Care. She was born April 6, 1913 in Morgan County to Carmie and Hattie Howard Downs. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Henry J. Sullins.

Survivors include four sons, Alton (Sandra) Sullins of Vinemont, C.J. (Ann) Sullins, Gene (Lisha) Sullins and Ronald Dean Sullins, all of Cullman; a sister, Erie Seamons; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Julus E. Quick

Services for Julus E. Quick, 95, of Hanceville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Ray Elsberry and Doug Pitts officiating, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Quick died Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born in Cullman, Dec. 22, 1906 to Ed and Ola Quick. He was a carpenter, a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, and a life-long resident of Cullman County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Una Quick; two sisters, Annie Key and Nora Rutherford; and a brother, Orbie Quick.

Survivors include his daughter, Thelma (James) Weaver of Cullman; a son, Travis (Dot) Quick of Hanceville; a brother, Hilyard Quick of Hanceville; a special son, Ben McMurry; four grandchildren, Linda Phipps, Ronnie Phillips, Randy Phillips and Sherry Mattox; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday.
