Leonard Wallace Hicks
Services for Leonard Wallace Hicks, 78, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Revs. Tim Aris and Levell Aris officiating, with burial in Crossroads Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hicks died Friday, Dec. 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County on June 11, 1923 to Robert A. and Pearl Buckelew Hicks. He was a farmer and a member of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mona Hicks; two sons, Hal D. Hicks and Rickey Hicks; daughter, Carol (W.A.) Tuten; brother, Arley Hicks; three sisters, Opal McLeroy, Ruth Williams, Larrie Keeler; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday.
Lovey Wisener
Services for Lovey Wisener, 90, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Pine Grove Church, Manuel Wisener officiating, with burial in Duck Creek Cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour before the service.

Mr. Wisener died Friday, Dec. 7 at his residence. He was born Nov. 19, 1911 to Eller and Amy Chambers Wisener. He was a farmer.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Wisener, Manuel Wisener, Alton Wisener; two daughters, Joan Brokus, Dawn Cockrell; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday.
Fredrick ‘Fred’ Ellis Wells
Graveside services for Fredrick “Fred” Ellis Wells, 82, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Cook Cemetery in Morgan County, the Rev. Lane Howard officiating.

Mr. Wells died Friday, Dec. 7 at Cullman Long Term Care. He was born in Augusta, Kansas on Dec. 2, 1919 to Joseph Augustus “Gus” and Cleo Lindsey Wells Turney. He owned a roofing company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola Pontius Wells; three sisters, Dapha Wells Elder, Lenise Turney and Wanda Turney Whiteman; and two brothers, Greer Wells and Curtis Wells.
Survivors include one brother, Wilbur Turney of Annandale, Va.; and two sisters, Raye Turney Latham of Cullman, Nadie Turney Boyd of Texas Creek, Colo.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
Dennis Alvin Yancey
Services for Dennis Alvin Yancey, 46, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home Chapel, Billy Gabel officiating, with burial in Concord Cemetery in Douglas.

Mr. Yancey died Friday, Dec. 7 in Holly Pond. He was born in Blount County on Aug. 22, 1955. He was a framer in the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Yancey.
Survivors include his mother, Vera L. Teal Childers of Woodstock, Ga.; two sons, Michael Yancey of Rydale, Ga., Brian Yancey of Cartersville, Ga.; three brothers, Albert Yancey of Snead, William Yancey of Cullman, Wayne Yancey of Oneonta; two sisters, Nell Childers of Canton, Ga., Ruth Stancil of Boaz; and two granddaughters, Kara Yancey, Breonna Yancey.
Visitation was Saturday.
Ruby D. Smith
Services for Ruby D. Smith, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at Moss Service Chapel, Dudley Brock officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Friday, Dec. 7 at Woodland Village. She was born Oct. 5, 1913 to George and Magnolia Pounds Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Byron W. Smith, Randy Smith and Vick Smith, all of Cullman; three daughters, Jerri G. (Joe) Smith and Carol Smith (Jack) Pope, both of Cullman, and Pat Smith (Harold) Jones of Pell City; two brothers, Louie Turner and Lindy Turner, both of Cullman; two sisters, Opie Norris of Cullman and Idell McDaniel of Elba; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Clara Opal Nelson
Services for Clara Opal Nelson, 86, of Center Hill will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at Hanceville Funeral Home, the Revs. Jimmy Scott and Hobert Thomas officiating, with burial in Center Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died Thursday, Dec. 6 in Cullman. She was born in Cullman on Jan. 29, 1915 to Arthur and Maude Giles Whitaker. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church and worked for many years at Golden Rod.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mancel Nelson; and son, Vandell Nelson.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlene (Sonny) Simoneaux of Snead; grandson, Curtis (Kaye) Simoneaux of Snead; granddaughter, Renea (Noel) Vincent of Garden City; and four great-grandchildren, Dara Simoneaux, Jana Simoneaux both of Snead, Brad Vincent, Bria Vincent both of Garden City.
Visitation was Friday.
James Luther Caldwell
Services for James Luther Caldwell, 74, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at West Point Baptist Church, Jim McClurkan officiating, with burial in Central Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Caldwell died Thursday, Dec. 6 at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Cullman County. He was an equipment operator and a member of West Point Baptist Church and the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Della Tankersley Caldwell; and his son, Randy Caldwell.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Quick Caldwell of Vinemont; two sons, Dwight Caldwell and Tim (LaQuitta) Caldwell, both of Vinemont; a daughter, Donna Wells of Vinemont; two sisters, Montez Russell of Akron, Ohio and Mildred White of Cullman; and six grandchildren, Stacy Caldwell, Bo Wells, Heather Wells, Tyler Caldwell, Tanner Caldwell and Tia Caldwell, all of Cullman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Pugh Williams; four sons, Donnie (Mary) Williams of Jasper, Ronald (Jeanette) Williams, Lonnie Williams and Tony Williams all of Bremen; two daughters, Teresa Williams of Cullman, Robin (Bryan) McClendon of Jasper; nine grandchildren, David Williams, Jason (Renee) Williams, Stacy Williams, Brent Williams, Kristin Williams, Ashley Williams, Jessica Williams, Hillary McClendon, Cory McClendon; one great-grandchild, Cody Davis; three sisters, Patsy Hammonds, Janice Thomas, Cecilia Smith; and one brother, Leamon Williams.
