Services for Eunice Evelyn Whitlock Jones, 84, of Bremen, formerly of the Springhill community, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Springhill Baptist Church, the Rev. Frank Wood, Larry Brown and Johnny Freeman officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Jones died Friday, March 15 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1917 to Steven C. and Lucy Jones Whitlock. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletis Jones; and a sister, Martha Ruth Driver.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Kenneth) Freeman of Bremen, Sharon (Bernie) David of Humble, Texas, Kathy (Rayburn) Nails of Crane Hill; five grandchildren; Keith (Missy) Carroll, Sherri (Tim) Logan, Sandra Johnson, Katrina (Nathan) Helms, Kendra (Doug) Day; eight great-grandchildren, Kayti Carroll, Daniel Carroll, Kailon Freeman, Dyson Day, Austin Helms, Zachary Logan, Abby Myrex, Georgia Myrex; and five step-grandchildren, Kelton Freeman, Cindy Myrex, Denise Strickland, Stephen David, Amanda David.
Visitation was Saturday.
William F. Willing
Services for William F. Willing, 64, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Moss Chapel, Bill McWeeny officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Willing died Friday, March 15 at University of Alabama Birmingham. He was born April 1, 1937 to Ferdinand and Lucille Druess Willing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lauren A. Birney Willing; two sons, Stephen W. Willing of Mars, Pa., William D. Willing of Canton, Ohio; daughter, Elizabeth C. German of Morrow, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cullman Humane Society.

Services for Hester G. Sweatmon, 87, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Lenard Nail officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

She died Saturday, March 16 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born in Cullman on March 17, 1914 to Walter Manning Gorham and Alice Gorham. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include four daughters, Lavonda Blackwell of Catanka, Gaye Cannington of Warner Robbins, Ga., Jeanette Estes of Holly Pond, Faye Owen of Vinemont; two sons, Edward (Virginia) Sweatmon of Baileyton, Junior (Martha) Sweatmon; three sisters, Ruth Coggins, Odell Seals both of Baileyton, Orene Davis of Hanceville; two brothers, Clemon Gorham, Marshall Gorham both of Baileyton; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Knight died Sunday, March 17. She was born June 30, 1953 in Barberton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Knight.

Mr. Estes died Saturday, March 16 at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Cullman County to Arthur A. and Willie Mae McGriff Estes. He was a retired assembly line worker for General Motors and a member of Rocky Branch Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Allen Dale Estes.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly James Estes of Holly Pond; four sons, Tony (Gail) Estes of Muncie, Ind., Bobby (Diane) Chudy, Mark Chudy, and David (Robin) Chudy, all of Michigan; four daughters, Cindy Estes (Terry) Coblentz of Ohio, Jackie Chudy Sterlyn, Karen (Chuck) Collins, Trisha (Andy) Lesondak, all of Michigan; four brothers, Grady Estes of Scottsboro, Luther Estes and Fay Estes, both of Holly Pond, and Conrad Estes of Covington, Ga.; a son-in-law, Howard Sterlyn of Michigan; a sister, Nellie Estes of Holly Pond; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services for Herbert A. Powell, 72 of Falkville were Monday, March 18, 2002, at Powell’s Chapel Church, the Rev. Tony Johnson officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Powell died Friday, March 15 at his residence. He was born March 1, 1930 to Ben and Nettie Powell. He was a retired steel worker and evangelist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Evelyn Skinner Powell.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Johnson and Connie Smithson, both of Falkville, and Angie Bishop of Cullman; a sister, Cornes Miller of San Josa, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Carl Ramey, Howard Turney, Richard Cline and Jeremy Hardin.

Hill of Childersburg; two sons, Jessie Hill of Akron, Ohio and Jamie Hill of Childersburg; a daughter, Kathy (John) Dyer of Summerville, Ga.; his mother, Imogene Hill of Childersburg; a brother, Douglas (Dora) Hill of Childersburg; a sister, Nell (Harold) Abbott of Vincent; and two grandchildren, Samantha Dyer and Stevie Dyer.

Alfaretta T. Baier
Services for Alfaretta T. Baier, 87, of Northport, formerly of Cullman, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Baier died Tuesday, March 19 at Green haven Nursing Home in Northport. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., one of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin J. Wachter. She was a resident of Cullman for over 80 years. She was a member of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frank B. Baier Sr.
Survivors include her son, Frank B. Baier Jr., a daughter-in-law, Martha J. Baier of Northport; four grandchildren, Regina M. (Samuel Ellis III) Dipiazza of Birmingham, Frank B. (Carol A.) Baier II of Tuscaloosa, Nancy D. Baier of Northport, Joseph D. Baier of Alma, Colo.; great-grandchild, Alexandra D. Baier of Tuscaloosa; sister, Dorothy (John) Paulovich of Cullman; and two brothers, William (Rosie) Wachter of Cullman, Joseph (Willa) Wachter of Mobile.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rosary at 7:30.
Spear Tip ‘Bud’ Roberts
Services for Spear Tip “Bud” Roberts, 82, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. David Chambers officiating, with burial in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Roberts died Monday, March 18 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1920 in Cullman County to Silas Solomon and Mary Hall Roberts. He was a mechanic for Anderson Boat and Motor. He was a member of the U.S. Army, the VFW and the American League.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola Odell Bowen Roberts; and his granddaughter Christy.
Survivors include two sons, George (Brenda) Roberts of Good Hope and Steve Roberts of Fairview; six daughters, Sandra Folds of Tarrant City, Martha (Kenneth) Melvin of Pinson, Elizabeth (Ted) Manies of Fairview, Felicia Dubose of Birmingham, Towana (Les) Kelley of Vinemont, and Sharon (Ron) Stevens of Logan; two sisters, Irene Holloway of Hartselle and Vivian Cornett of Morgan City; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
