Raymond E. Hinkle

Services for Raymond E. Hinkle, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Russ Fox officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hinkle died Tuesday, March 26 at his residence. He was born Aug. 2, 1920 to Burl and Geniva Tillman Hinkle. He was a security guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie M. Hudson Hinkle; three sons, Charles Hinkle, Gene Hinkle and Keith Hinkle; a daughter, Darlene Horsley; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. today.

Flossie Mae Bailey

Services for Flossie Mae Bailey, 76, of Vinemont will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Al Barton and Witt Wray officiating, with burial in Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bailey died Tuesday, March 26 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1925 in Vinemont to Homer Alvin and Lena Minnie Morgan Nails. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Vera Lee Dunlap and Bernice Townsend.

Survivors include two sons, Willis Bailey and John (Jennifer) Bailey, both of Eva; two daughters, Anita (Doug) Jenkins and Annie Ruth Quattlebaum, both of Eva;two sisters, Margie Berber of Lanett and Valley Blakston of Adamsville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Curgis ‘Kit’ Smith

Services for Curgis “Kit” Smith, 85, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, David McGowan and Sonny Burnett officiating, with entombment in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, March 26 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1916 in Morgan County to Nathan and Bertha Belle Vincent Smith. He was a steel worker for U.S. Steel Ensley Open Hearth and was a member of Ryan Creek Baptist Church. He was combat veteran of World War II having served with the Third Army, 87th Division, Company H, 346th Infantry Region. He received the combat infantry badge, bronze star medal, good conduct medal, American Campaign medal, European Campaign medal with two bronze stars, and the World War II Victory medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verdia Lou Collier Smith; four brothers, Dewey, Eulick, Melvin and Aubery Smith; and four sisters, Etta Reynolds, Aline Brock, Myrtic Kelly and Odell Teichmniller.

Survivors include a son, J. D. (Marie) Smith of Warrior; a daughter, Carolyn Faye Steadham of Cullman; a brother, Junior Smith; two sisters, Wynell Golden and Leotti Williams; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Sandra Lea Thomas

Services for Sandra Lea Thomas, 62, of Midfield were Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Brown Service West Chapel, the Rev. Wayne Shepard officiating, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

Brown Service West Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thomas died Friday, March 22. She was retired from Kmart as a sales associate.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Waldroupe; her stepfather, James C. Cox; and her daughter, Laura Denise.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Gordon Thomas; her mother, Inez Cox of Cullman; two daughters, Cathy (Ronny) Reid and Missy (Jeff) Burns, both of Midfield; six grandchildren, Jeremy Reid, Jeffery Burns, Joseph Reid, Christopher Burns, Brooke Coleman, and Daniel Burns; and three great-grandchildren, Trey Coleman, Bailee Reid and Destiny Coleman.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Louis Carl Hasenbein
Services for Louis Carl Hasenbein, 70, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Kevin McGrath officiating, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hasenbein died Monday, March 25 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1931 in Cullman County to John and Elizabeth Grabber Hasenbein. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a lineman for Cullman Electric Co-op.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Micheal Hasenbein and Todd Hasenbein.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Miller Hasenbein of Cullman; three sons, Andy Hasenbein and Mark Hasenbein, both of Cullman and Greg (Kim) Hasenbein of Huntsville; four daughters, Lalia (Arthur) Bradley of Harvest, Stacie (Jeff) Adams of Logan, Dawn (Dan) Lewis of Huntsville and Leslie Hasenbein of Delaware; four brothers, Bill Hasenbein, Al Hasenbein, Mike Hasenbein and Jim Hasenbein; a sister, Sister Francine of Sacred Heart Convent; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday.

Ruth G. Johnson

Services for Ruth G. Johnson, 73, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Troy Butch Cleghorn and Dillon Calvert officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, March 27, at Baptist Medical Center in Princeton. She was born Feb. 12, 1929 in Cullman County. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Minnie Gray Goodwin; her husband, Dewey Leroy Johnson; a brother, Carl Goodwin; and two sisters, Vonell Murray and Jane Cobb.

Survivors include a son, Danny (Peggy) Johnson of Cullman; a sister, Doris Harbison of Cullman; two grandchildren, Saundra (Nicky) Speer and Dan (Heather) Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Speer, Kylan Johnson and Hanna Johnson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Iantha ‘Ann’ Brown

Services for Iantha “Ann” Brown, 79, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Thursday, March 28, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born on Feb. 22, 1923, in Cullman to William and Ada Henderson Talley. She was a clerk.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth (Wendell Jr.) Sowell of Hanceville; a sister, Lillian Burr of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Benjamin F. Talley of Florida and Mancil Talley of Hanceville; a nephew, Onie (Carrie) Miller of Hanceville; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Talley of Hanceville.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Olen Miller

Services for Donald Olen Miller, 61, of Decatur will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at Roselawn Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Lucky Teague and James Chitwood officiating, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

Roselawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Miller died Wednesday, March 27 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born in Winston County on May 23, 1940 to Lonie Olen and Clara Robinson Miller. He was a retired construction worker and truck driver and a member of Flint Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Donald Keith Miller of Moulton and Edward Bart Miller of Decatur; a daughter, Donna Miller Sandlin; two brothers, Eugene Miller and Odene Miller, both of Decatur; a sister, Euvonne Nichols of Cullman; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Miller, Mark Miller, Ricky Butler, Brian Miller, Raymond Hayes Nichols, Greg Miller, Roger Nichols, and Jerry Thorn.

Visitation was Thursday.

Tom Reynolds
Services for Tom Reynolds, 92, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Larry Walker officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reynolds died Friday, March 29 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1909. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Reynolds; and two sons, Harold Reynolds and Wayne Reynolds.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Marjie) Reynolds of Cullman; a daughter, Diane Abbott of Cullman; a daughter-in-law, Karola Reynolds of Cullman; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today.

Alfred Weaver

Services for Alfred Weaver, 71, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Aubrey Gable officiating, with burial in Union Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weaver died Thursday, March 28 at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Cullman County to John and Daisey Benefield Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Overton Weaver of Vinemont; two sons, Alfred (Kimberly) Weaver and Derrick (Linda) Weaver of Cullman; two sisters, Nellie Sue Sartian and Frances Gobber of Cullman; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 today at the funeral home.

Mary Magalene Mitchell Powell

Services for Mary Magalene Mitchell Powell, 83, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
