Services for Edith Joy Baker, 42, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Joe Cook and Sherrel Hill officiating, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at her residence. She was born Feb. 22, 1959 in Cullman County. She was a cashier at Jack’s Truck Stop Service Station.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Franklin McSwain; and her brother, Billy Don McSwain.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Ray Baker of Hanceville; her mother, Hilda (Guy) Carr of Cullman; a daughter, Renee (Andy) Thornton of Cullman; a brother, Steve (Lisa) McSwain of Cullman; three sisters, Deborah (Mike) Smith, Penny (John) Knight and Sonja (Lionel) Bates, all of Cullman; and two grandchildren, Casey Thornton and Josie Thornton.
Visitation was Thursday.
Florence Lessie Barbee
Services for Florence Lessie Barbee, 93, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Barbee died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at her residence. She was born Nov. 8, 1908 in Cullman County. She was a homemaker. Her parents, Lee and Annie McGill Farr, came to Cullman in 1904. Mrs. Barbee was the last of the fourth generation grandchildren of Col. William Farr, who was a Revolutionary War Patriot.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Roy Barbee; three sons, Elbert Barbee, Emmit Barbee and Alton Barbee; four brothers, Grady Farr, Leonard Farr, Waymon Farr and John Farr; and two sisters, Essie Lipsey Mason and Delia Farr.
Survivors include four daughters, Mildred Barbee and Rachel (James) Leipert, both of Cullman, Marie Grimmett of Anderson, Ind. and Iona (C.G.) White of Addison; a stepdaughter, Mae (Amos) Harvell of Hanceville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Georgie Joseph Campbell
Services for Georgie Joseph Campbell, 77, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Moss Service Chapel, Barry Gardner and Marvin Brock officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mr. Campbell died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1924 to James and Clemie McCathidy Campbell. He retired from Nicholson File and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in West Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ray Leon Campbell; a daughter, Cathy Gail Campbell; and four brothers, Tommy, James, Brady and Ollice Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Audie Lee Dye Campbell; three sons, Edward Campbell, Jerry (Betty) Campbell both of Vinemont, Windell (Pat) Campbell of Cullman; four daughters, Virginia Ann (Sammy) Hunter of Arley, Delores (Doug Streetman of Russellville) Vinson of Hartselle, Wanda (James) Strickland of Vinemont, Catherine (Steve) Weissend of Texas; three brothers, Grady Campbell of Anderson, J.C. Campbell of Holly Pond, R.C. Campbell of Rogersville; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was Thursday.
Dora S. Childers
Services for Dora S. Childers, 86, of the Eva community at Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Eva Baptist Church, the Revs. Phillip Robinson and Billy Mosteller officiating, with burial in Lawrence Cove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Childers died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at her residence. She was born Sept. 27, 1915 to Noah and Ola Pricket Childers. She was a retired licensed practical nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aldridge Childers; a son, Alvin Childers; and a daughter, Martha Frost.
Survivors include a son, Burl Childers of Eva; five daughters, Delores Haygood and Bonnie Roper, both of Decatur, Judy Arrington of Hartselle, Carol Sue Johnson of Huntsville and Charlotte Hall of Oden Ridge; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Toby Sellers, Greg French, Wesley Rusk, Shawn Jones, Phillip Frost and Matthew Frost.
Visitation was Thursday.
Tommie Hesterley
Services for Tommie Hesterley, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001 at Fairview Methodist Church, Billy Skelton officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Hesterley died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 26, 1904 in Cullman to Walter A. and Irene Carter Pearson. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include four daughters, Mildred Huffman, Anthonetta Eddleman, Ethelene Farmer and Charlie Marie Craft; a son, L.D. Hesterley Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Wednesday.
Ruby Hulsey Chapman
Services for Ruby Hulsey Chapman, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001 at Moss Funeral Chapel, Mr. Young officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Chapman died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1913 to Lindsey and Martha Hulsey. She was a teacher for 42 years in the Cullman city and county school systems. She spent most of her career at East Elementary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cullman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Chapman.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Chapman; a son-in-law, Timothy Peacock; and a grandson, William Chapman Young.
Visitation was Wednesday.
Hershel Holmes
Services for Hershel Holmes, 61, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Union Hill Baptist Church, Vernon Willis and Robert Morgan officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Holmes died Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 30, 1940. He was a laborer.
He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Holmes.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence Fipps of Florida; his mother, Ivelene Reeves Holmes; two brothers, Hollis Holmes of Hanceville and Don Holmes of Cullman; three sisters, Melba Christian, Nancy Moore and Linda Copeland, all of Cullman; two grandchildren, L.A. Fipps and Heather Fipps; 18 nieces and nephews; and 26 great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brett Holmes, Destry Holmes, Kevin Hyde, Kenny Moore, Jeff Holmes and Tony Moore.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

Mrs. Phillips died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at UAB Hospital. She was born on Sept. 20, 1937 in Cullman County to Oscar B. and Vera Persall Miller. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Marty (Glenda) Phillips of Crossville and Walter R. (Carolyn) Phillips of North Carolina; two daughters, Rita (Ronald) Harris of Joppa and Sandra E. (Lance) Self of Cullman; five brothers, Donald Miller, Gene Miller, Louie Miller, Guyward Miller and Ricky Miller, all of Cullman; four sisters, Vonda Holcomb, Wanda Chandler, Susan Schaefers and Vicky Bentley, all of Cullman; and 12 grandchildren.
