Donald Royce ‘Chicken’ Hathcox
Services for Donald Royce “Chicken” Hathcox, 68, of Hanceville will be at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Tommy Swann officiating, with burial in Valley Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Hathcox died Tuesday, April 23 in Hanceville. He was born May 25, 1933 in Jefferson County to Ulysses Grant and Ruby Lee Bates Hathcox. He was an inspector for National Can Company and a band booster/band bus driver for Cold Springs High School. He was a member of Valley Springs Church, and the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Hathcox; and a granddaughter, Evelyn Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Cooper Hathcox of Hanceville; two sons, Donald “Buddy” (Deb) Hathcox and Charles (Suzie) Hathcox; three daughters, Donna (Will) Garrett, Kathy (Shane) Johnson and Cindy (Greg) White; a brother, James Hathcox; two sisters, Nellie Kuehn and Sisly Troncale; 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Tim, Chris, Nick, Cody, Mechelle, J.W., James, Brandy and Vicki; and one great-grandchild, Victor.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Treasie Eveline Wood
Services for Treasie Eveline Wood, 86, of Pleasant Grove in Jefferson County, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Walter Swain officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery at Eva.

Mrs. Wood died Tuesday, April 23 at The Self Nursing Home in Hueytown. She was born in Alabama March 11, 1916 to Henry Robert and Lila Izona Elizabeth Evans Fleischamel. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Skip) Morrison of Pleasant Grove; two brothers, Frank Fleischamel and Theodore Fleischamel, both of Cullman; a sister, Bessie McIntosh of Holly Pond; four grandchildren, Tammie Wood, Jeff Wood, Van Wood and Tom Morrison; and five great-grandchildren, Devlin Willis, Raegan Wood, Kurre Wood, Gracyn Wood and Karly Jo Wood.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Nelda C. Nelson
Services for Nelda C. Nelson, 54, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church, Guy Hunt officiating, with burial in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Nelson died Tuesday, April 23 at UAB Hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1948 in Cullman County to Earl W. and Prudie Nunnelley Cobbs. She was a medical transcriptionist for ENT Associates of Alabama. She was a member of Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church and Bosom Buddies of Cullman County.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Sidney Nelson of Eva; two sons, Jason Nelson of Hartselle and Cory Nelson of Eva; a daughter, Miranda Nelson of Eva; four brothers, Darrell (Leigh) Cobbs of Springville, Ronald (Faye) Cobbs and Delone (Judy) Cobbs, both of Vinemont and Steve Cobbs of Eva; and a sister, Brenda (Ronald) Childers of Eva.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ellen Roberts Myers
Graveside services for Ellen Roberts Myers, 56, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Ebenezer Cemetery, the Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating.

Mrs. Myers died Monday, April 22 at her residence. She was born Nov. 12, 1945 in Cullman to L.B. McGinnis and Rachel Barnett. She was a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her father; and her brother, Larry Keith Smith.
Survivors include a son, Brian Myers of Cullman; a daughter, Deborah Ellen Myers Kraft of New Orleans, La.; two granddaughters, Bethany and Amanda Myers; a nephew, Nathan Smith; her stepfather, Doyle C. Smith; and her stepmother, Dorothy Smith of Danville.
Visitation was Wednesday.
Walter H. Owens
Services for Walter H. Owens, 74, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Nichols Funeral Chapel, Scott Harris officiating, with burial in Sardis No. 2 Cemetery at Eva.

Mr. Owens died Tuesday, April 23 at Woodland Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrington and Ethel Owens; a son, John Lyndon Owens; two brothers, Thomas Emerson and Mitchell Franklin Owens; and two sisters, Martha Bee Owens and Carolyn Garnett.
Survivors include three sons, Walter A. Owens of Cullman, Brently Kyle Owens of Tuscaloosa and Darren Levan Owens of Logan; a daughter, Darla Deann West of Cullman; four grandchildren; three brothers, H.P., Bobby and Billy Owens, all of Addison; and a sister, Jo Ann Willis of Cotaco.
Raymond Lawrence ‘Bud’ Lancaster
Services for Raymond Lawrence “Bud” Lancaster, 71, of Lake City, Fla. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Ritout’s Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Lancaster died Tuesday April 23. He was born Aug. 5, 1930 in Birmingham to Raymond B. and Alma L. Maltin Lancaster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, Columbia County Woodcarvers and was a Master Mason, Alabama Lodge No. 525. He served six years in the U. S. Air Force and was in the Korean War. His career as a mechanical engineer included 34 years specializing in military contracts. In the early 60s he was involved in the space program at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville and at Cape Canaveral in Florida. He retired in 1995 and moved to Lake City, Fla. from Enterprise.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Lancaster; daughter, Marcia K. Lancaster of Jacksonville, Fla.; and brothers, Buel (Mary) Lancaster of Shelby, and Ed (Pat) Lancaster of Pinson.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday.
Kathleen Connell Hale
Services for Kathleen Connell Hale, 61, of Plant City, Fla., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Moss Service Chapel, John Elliott and Herman Elliott officiating, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Dodge City.

Mrs. Hale died Thursday, April 25 at her residence. She was born May 6, 1940. She was a day care owner and a member of Plant City Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Michael Hale of Auburn; a daughter, Anita Hale of Florida; a brother, Billy Ray Connell of Florida; three sisters, Janice Hancock of Hartselle, Shirley Church and Paula Martin both of Manchester, Tenn.; a grandson, Brett Hale of Florida; three nephews; and seven nieces.
Pallbearers will be John Lucious, Brian Hancock, Daron Hancock, Bobby Martin, Eddie Hill, Randy Hancock and Jarrid Hancock.

Dewey Lee Swann

Mr. Swann died Thursday, April 25 in Cullman. He was born in Blount County on Jan. 1, 1912 to William Riley and Elza Cordelia Young Swann. He was a farmer.
Survivors include six daughters, Virginia (Jimmy) Brock of Hanceville, Glenda (Phillip) Clay of Vinemont, Patricia Cook of Bangor, Lenda (Clifford) Goff of Callahan, Fla., Brenda Robert of Albertville and Barbara Vanzandt of Blountsville; four sons, James (Lillian) Swann of Cullman, Joe (Zane) Swann and John Swann of Vinemont, and Lewis (Fay) Swann of Jacksonville; and 32 grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller died Thursday, April 25 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 25, 1927 in Cullman County to Johnny William and Minnie Caldwell Grayson. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis William Miller; her son, Jerry Miller; three brothers, James Grayson, Arrie Grayson and Leroy Grayson; and her sister, Ruby Hopkins.
Survivors include five sons, Curtis (Donna) Miller, Bobby Miller, Garvin Miller, Gary Miller and Danny (Sherrie) Miller, all of Cullman; four daughters, Dorothy (Sherril) Baker of Winston County, Shelby (Harold) Gaines of Florida, Judy (William) James of Cullman and Brenda (James) Hannay of Lawrence County; three brothers, Cecil Grayson of Cullman, Clarence Grayson of Michigan, Gene Grayson of Blount County; two sisters, Mary Jo Hale of Cullman and Francis Starnes of Jefferson County; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Tammy Townson

Ms. Townson died Saturday, April 20 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman on July 2, 1939 to Theodore and Margaret Pirkel Leonard Townson.

Mrs. Gross died Friday, April 26 at her residence. She was born March 2, 1944 in Cullman to Gregory Vander and Myrtle Jane Chamblee Nichols. She was a floral designer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Myrick; and two brothers, Ray Nichols and Wayne Nichols.
Survivors include a son, Randall (Kim) Thomas of Hanceville; a daughter, Sherri (Jason) Tankersley of Cullman; a brother, Bobby Joe ((Robbie) Nichols of Cleveland; two sisters, Evelyn Hottle of Charlotte, N.C. and Clara (Eddy) Doty of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Justin (Teresa) Thomas, Zachary Thomas and Emilee Thomas, all of Hanceville, and Lauryn Tankersley of Cullman; a great-grandchild, Cameron Thomas of Hanceville; and a special friend and loved one, Ron Mann of Cullman.
