Services for Jonathan Scott James, 29, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Michael Lackey and DeWayne Kelly officiating, with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Fairview.

Mr. James died Tuesday, May 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1972 in Cullman to William and Carolyn James. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Kay James; and his grandfather, Homer James.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Matthew James; two brothers, Jerry James and Jamie James; two nephews; and grandparents, Kenneth and Wilma Guess and Ruth James.
Visitation was Thursday.
Stacy L. Mitchell Carter
Services for Stacy L. Mitchell Carter, 78, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Fairview Methodist Church, Jim Nunez officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Carter died Thursday, May 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 23, 1923 in Cullman County to Henry J. and Mary Elizabeth Harrison Lovvorn. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Mitchel (Jim) Green of Loretto, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Johnna (Greg) Hollingsworth of Fairview, Celette (Matt) Dean of Cullman, Lisa Green of Charlottesville, Va., Lee (Christy) Green, and Lance Green, both of Loretto, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Calan and Chase Hollingsworth.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Lora B. Powell
Services for Lora B. Powell, 75, of Blountsville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Daniel Deliz and the Revs. Tim Blackmon and Bob Smallwood officiating, with burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Blountsville.

Mrs. Powell died Wednesday, May 8 in Birmingham. She was born in Blountsville on Aug. 4, 1926 to Floyd and Agnes Barnes Bullard. She worked in management for the Cullman County School System and a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Her husband is the late V.J. Powell.
Survivors include six daughters, Mandy (Todd) Berry of Lawrenceville, Tenn., Denise (Thomas) Deliz of Blountsville, Minday (Butch) Lovell of Kimberly, Martha Powell, Cindy (Mike) Robbins, both of Birmingham, Jeanette (Steve) Thomas of Hanceville; two sons, James (Stacy) Powell of Blountsville and Stephen A. (Brenda) Powell of Pomona, Kan.; six brothers and sisters, Nell Salmon, Karen Mullens, James Bullard, all of Birmingham, Maxie (Alton) Giles of Mt. Olive, Montez Pettit of Cleveland, Tenn. and Jean Wheeler of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Kenneth David Johnston, 40, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at New Horizon Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Tim Dubberly officiating, with burial in Dilworth Church of God Cemetery.

Mr. Johnston died Wednesday, May 8 in Cullman. He was a customer service representative for Blue Shield of California and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Huey and Jessie Irene Crawford of Cullman; two brothers, Tommy (Susan) Johnston and James (Kathy) Johnston, both of Cullman; two nephews, Huey and Brian Johnston; and two nieces, Crystal and Sarah Johnston.

He died Thursday, May 9 at Children’s Hospital. He was born on June 28, 2001 at Brookwood Hospital to Jim and Lisa Stewart Johnson of Alabaster.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Joe Stewart.

Graveside services for Louise Craddock Padgett, 92, of Dodge City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Cullman City Cemetery, with memorial remembrance given by friends and family.

Mrs. Padgett died Friday, May 10 at her residence. She was born July 19, 1909 in Clay County to Robert Parks and Barbara Allen Harris. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Griffin Harris; her husband, Vernon Padgett; and a daughter, Dot Graf.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon (Teresa) Padgett of Cullman and Ben (Carol) Padgett of Birmingham; a daughter, Lucy (Bobby) Lynn of Dodge City; a son-in-law, Louis Graf of Cullman; two sisters, Frances Cornelius of Huntsville and Barbara Ream of Birmingham; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cranford E. ‘Pete’ Hendrix
Cranford E. “Pete” Hendrix, 72, of Farwell, Mich., formerly of Cullman, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.Mr. Hendrix was born Sept. 26, 1929 in Cullman to William and Annie Hendrix.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Marvin Hendrix, Buster Hendrix, Luther Roberts and Jessie Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Watson Hendrix, three sisters, Estelle (Martin) Price, Louise (Dwight) Foust, Marie (Bill) Thompson, all of Cullman; and one brother, Gordon (the late Norma) Hendrix of Burton, Mich.

Mrs. DeMonia died Monday, May 13 at her residence. She was born Aug. 18, 1930. she was a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her father, John A. Murphree.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Wano DeMonia; a son, Barry DeMonia; a daughter, Karen (Ron) Seybold; her mother, Clara Ruth Pearson; a sister, Bobbie Duke; and two grandchildren, Byron Nixon and Stephanie Mosteller.

Services for Nadine “Dean” W. Goodlett, 78, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Jackie Camp officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Goodlett died Sunday, May 12 at her residence. She was born in Williamson County, Illinois on Dec. 11, 1923 to Newt and Ida Treadaway Wilhite. She was a homemaker and was involved in many civic activities in and around Cullman for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Louis M. Goodlett.
Survivors include a niece, Wanda Payne of Cullman; a nephew, Michael Clayton of Gardendale; two great-nephews, Kenny Payne of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Louis Payne of Missouri; and two great-nieces, Gina Little of Monroe, Ga. and Barbara Schaper of Clayton, Ga.
