Services for Lela Mae Mosteller, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002 at Welti Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Millard Mann and Billy Mosteller officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Mosteller died Wednesday, May 15 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born in Cullman County on May 20, 1920 to William B. and Ethel Samples Burrow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce Mosteller; her infant son, “Little” Bruce Mosteller; and a sister, Beatrice Reid.
Survivors include three children, Harold (Melissa) Mosteller and and Hilda (William) Calvert, both of Cullman, and Allen (Marilyn) Mosteller of Good Hope; a brother, Milford Alton Burrow of Falkville; two sisters, Louise (Ezra) Buchanan and Mildred Crumbley, both of Cullman; four grandchildren, Janet, Jessica, Robyn and Leysha Mosteller; a brother-in-law, Billy (Imogene) Mosteller; a sister-in-law, Elzie Collier; and special family, Woodland Village Health Care residents and staff.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
James ‘Big Red’ Suggs
Services for James “Big Red” Suggs, 56, of Vinemont will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. John Burts officiating, with burial in New Friendship Cemetery in Somerville.

Mr. Suggs died Tuesday, May 14 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Morgan County on Sept. 23, 1945.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Suggs.
Survivors include his daughter, Sylvia Suggs of Addison; mother, Birchie Bell Reed of Addison; four brothers, Felton Suggs of Addison, Jerry Suggs of Somerville, Leon Suggs of Jones Chapel, Edward Suggs of Fairview; and two sisters, Judy Ashley of Addison, Brenda Champion of Massey.
Pallbearers will be Jasper Champion, Jeff Champion, Joe Champion, Greg Bell, David Champion, Robert Suggs.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Robert A. Griffin
Memorial services for Robert A. “Bob” Griffin, 71, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Grace Episcopal Church.

Mr. Griffin died of cancer on Thursday, May 16 at his residence. He was born on Aug. 28, 1930 in Ross, Calif. to Cecil A. and Addie Elizabeth Kizer Griffin. He was a retired chemical engineer, a U.S. Army veteran with the 101st Airborne Division, having served in the Korean War conflict as a first lieutenant. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering at Auburn University in 1959. He earned a master of business administration at Mississippi State University.
He worked at Kerr-McGee Chemical Company as manager of engineering for the Electrolytic and Pigment Plant in Hamilton, Miss.; at Soda Springs, Idaho as facilities manager where he developed commercial applications for vanadium, lithium and tetracholoride. In 1990, Gov. Cecil Andrus of Idaho appointed him to the Workmans Compensation Board for the state of Idaho. He was president and CEO of R.A. Griffin and Associates and was a consultant to Kerr-McGee. He was a lifelong member of the National Institute of Chemical Engineers, Kiwanis Club, Elks Club, Auburn Tigers Booster Club and Auburn University Alumni Association. He served as president of the Oregon Trails Country Club. He was a supporter of the Caribou County School District and a member of the Terri Pines Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Millie C. Griffin of Cullman; two sons, Mike (Janet) Griffin of Anniston and Jimmy Griffin of San Diego, Calif.; four step-sons, Derrick (Karen) Freeman of Ridgeland, Miss., Darwin (Cindy) Freeman of Madison, Miss., Mark (Cindy) Freeman, and Keith Freeman, both of Cleveland, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Jan Michelle Griffin, Erica Colon, Frenchy Colon, Wesley Freeman, Leigh Freeman, Anna Claire Freeman, Lauren Freeman, Jeremy Freeman, Nick Freeman, Ashley Freeman and Jennifer Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or Hospice of Cullman County.
Bertis Lee Braseale
Services for Bertis Lee Braseale, 63, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Etha Baptist Church, the Rev. Lonnie Skinner officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Braseale died Wednesday, May 15 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 22, 1938 to James Albert and Leola Mae Ergle Braseale. He was self-employed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nettie Lou “Tommie” Braseale Farr; and one brother, Buford Braseale.
Survivors include one brother, J.D. Braseale; special friends, Valerie Goodwin, Joe Creel; four nieces, Theresa Baker, Debbie Fallin, Patty Wilson, Sherry Jones; and three nephews, Johnny Braseale, Kelly Braseale, Chris Braseale.

Wonder Hilda Dudley
Memorial services for Wonder Hilda Dudley, 74, of Logan will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Bethlehem Methodist Church, the Rev. David McDonald officiating.

Mrs. Dudley died Sunday, May 12 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Winchester, Va. on March 20, 1928 to Edward and Pearl Rush Richardson. She was a cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a son, William (Edith) Dudley of Vinemont; a daughter, Mary (David) Osbourn of Bay City, Mich.; special friend and companion, Archie Clark of Logan; three sisters, Margaret Rhodes of Hay Market, Va., Nora Jenkins of Stafford, Va. and Nettie Richardson of Winchester, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. White died Thursday, May 16 at his residence. He was born in Cullman on April 11, 1929 to Henry M and Victoria Key White. He was retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Cullman Masonic Lodge No. 421, the Zamora Temple Birmingham Scottish Rights and the Lamon Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 723 of Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Mariam Emma Moon White of Cullman; two sons, Rodney E. (Wilma) White of Rocky River, Ohio, Phillip D. (Karen) White of Birmingham; two daughters, Susan White Jones of Cullman, Linda M. (Jeff) Graydon of of Lexington, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Bird died Thursday, May 16 in Huntsville. He was born in Erwin, Ky. on April 25, 1920 to Olan and Effie Shaver Bird. He was a mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Landers Bird of Garden City; two sons, Harry Jr. (Sherry) Bird of Chicago, Jeff (Karen) Bird of Coco Beach, Fla.; daughter, Nancy Statan of Militan, Ariz.; and two sisters, Lavern Howell of Birmingham, June Stevens of Pell City.

Barbara ‘Alene’ Mann

Mrs. Mann died Saturday, May 11 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman County on July 6, 1936. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Mann of Vinemont; a son, Myron (Cindy) Mann of Cullman; a daughter, Janet (Jerry) Ferrell of Cullman; a brother, L.J. (Mamie) Smith of Cullman; four grandsons, Jeremy Ferrell, Joel Ferrell, Christopher Mann and Nicholas Mann; and a nephew, Wesley (Donna) Smith of Cullman.

Graveside services for Evelyn Lucille Beckett of Columbus, Ga. were held Wednesday, May 15, 2002 in Parkhill Cemetery, the Rev. Ralph H. Melton officiating.

Mrs. Beckett died Tuesday, May 14 at Estes Civic Center Nursing Home in Birmingham. She was born in Columbus, Ga. to Robert and Elma Brown Favors. She was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning, Ga., and was a member of Rosehill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William H. Beckett.
Survivors include her son, Steven H. Beckett of Cullman; a sister, Joy Favors Shell of Gulfport, Miss.; two grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Cerese Beckett; and two granddaughters-in-law, Jennifer and Emily.
Visitation was Wednesday.
Talmadge Smith
Services for Talmadge Smith, 76, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Jack Collins officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Thursday, May 16 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Morgan County on Nov. 26, 1925 to Elmus Neander and Mauda Lou Powell Smith. He was a truck driver, a member of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elmus Smith and Howard Smith; and two sisters, Velma Thompson and Nolar Chambers.
Survivors include his wife, Lullene English Smith of Cullman; a daughter, Linda Tyree (Donald) Hunter of Cullman; three brothers, Albert (Betty) Smith, Burl (Edith) Smith and J.L. (Martha) Smith of Cullman; two sisters, Alice Butler and Lillie Mae (Cecil) Newberry of Cullman; two granddaughters, Bama (Bryan) Turner and Carla (Daniel) Strickllin of Cullman; and four great-grandchildren, Noah D. Stricklin, Austin N. Stricklin, David G. Turner and Alex L. Turner.
