Services for Jewell Linton Shackelford, 91, of Falkville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Greg Story officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mr. Shackelford died Thursday, May 23 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Oct. 15, 1910 to Joseph Henry and Mollie Brundidge Linton. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billie Shackelford; two brothers, Willie Linton and Luther Linton; and three sisters, Lillie Linton, Daisy Linton Howard and Rosa Linton Leverett.
Visitation was Friday.
Curtis Newton ‘Curt’ Chumley
Services for Curtis Newton “Curt” Chumley, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Jimmy Baker officiating, with burial in Simcoe Methodist Cemetery.

Mr. Chumley died Friday, May 24 at his residence. He was born in Cullman on June 29, 1930 to Charles Richard and Gracie L. Stidham Chumley. He was retired from Americold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Larry Newton Chumley.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Sears Chumley; three daughters, Betty Chumley (Sheryl) Lawson, Brenda Chumley (Roger) Landers, Cindy Chumley (Thomas) McKenney; three brothers, Ervin (Mary) Chumley, Wyndell (Claudia) Chumley, Hershel (Linda) Chumley; two sisters, Dean (Roy) Swafford, Gail (Charles) Wynn; four grandchildren, Jeff Lawson, Josh McKenney, Daniel and David Landers; and two great-grandchildren, Anna and Walker McKenney.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
Linda Joyce James
Services for Linda Joyce James, 56, of Holly Pond will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at Moss Funeral Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. James died Friday, May 24 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 15, 1945. She worked in housekeeping at Tyson Foods.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Loggins; and her husband, William L. James.
Survivors include four sons, Andy (Lisa) Pace, Jason Pace both of Hanceville, Kerry (Mandy) Pace, Kevin (Wanda) Pace both of Cullman; step-son, Tim James; two step-daughters, Betty Cole, Becky Walker; mother, Jemima James; six brothers, O’Neil Loggins of Hayden, Alan Loggins, Darryl Loggins, Wayne Loggins all of Hanceville, Terry Loggins of Garden City, Tony Loggins of Cullman; sister, Pat Head of Blountsville; eight grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday.
Alice Mary Morris
Alice Mary Morris, 75, of Cullman died Friday, May 24, 2002 at her residence. She was born Feb. 10, 1927 to George and Mary Justice Skinner. She was an administrative assistance for the state of Ohio Rehabilitation Service. She was of the Methodist faith.
No funeral service or visitation is planned. Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge.
Survivors include her son, George Hamilton; three grandchildren, Tiffany Hamilton, Daniel Moore, Raymond Moore; and eight great-grandchildren.
Vernon Harper Padgett Jr.

Mr. Padgett died Friday, May 24 at his residence.He was born in Cullman County on Sept. 5, 1936 to Vernon Sr. and Louise Craddock Harris Padgett. He was an attorney and a member of First United Methodist Church of Cullman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Padgett; two sons, Joe Padgett of Cullman, Chris Padgett of Birmingham; daughter, DeAnna Padgett of Georgia; brother, Ben Padgett of Birmingham; sister, Lucy Lynn of Dodge City; and three grandchildren.
William R. ‘Jack’ Smith
Graveside services for William R. “Jack” Smith, 84, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Central Cemetery, Jerry Fleming officiating.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, May 25 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Cullman on Sept. 16, 1917 to John Irving and Limmer Rodgers Smith. He was a truck driver for Flowers Bakery and was a member of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mervel Laney Smith of Cullman; son, William Robert (Barbara) Smith Jr. of Montevallo; two daughters, Delores (Ricky) Shaw of Cullman, Beverly (Tim) Buckelew of Missouri; two brothers, Lloyd (Lorene) Smith, John Irvin Smith Jr. of Adamsville; four sisters, Avis Smith, Essmer (Worth) Chandler, Evelyn (Felix) Easterwood of Cullman, Ovis Simmons of Adamsville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She died Sunday, May 26 at her residence. She was born in Hanceville on Aug. 19, 1929 to Huie and Elizabeth Nelson James. She was an accountant.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her son, Christopher James Griffin of Birmingham; three daughters, Jean Harmon, of Tarrant, JoAnn (Danny) Sumner of Pinson, Lynda Griffin of Midfield; two sisters, Eula Camp, Audie Hill both of Hanceville; and five grandchildren, Robby, Stephanie and Kimberly Harmon and Tara and Corey Sumner.

Mr. Hyatt died Sunday, May 26 at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1922 to James and Alma Turner Hyatt. He was employed in Civil Service. He served in the U.S. Army at the close of World War II and was in the Air Force Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Tucker Hyatt of Crane Hill; son, Joseph Robert Hyatt Jr. of Huntsville; daughter, Martha Ann Waller of North Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Alta Mauldin of Cullman; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hunt, Scott Hunt, Joe Hyatt, Calvin B. Blevins, David Blevins, Ted Hegenbarth.

Mr. Rutherford died Friday, May 24 in Cullman. He was born April 3, 1941. He was a boiler maker with Local 108.
Survivors include one son, Chris Rutherford; three step-sons, Brent, Jeff and Kerry Martin; two brothers, Billy and Felix Rutherford; one sister, Aileen Wilcox; one grandson, Kyle Martin; three granddaughters, Kristin, Tara and Savannah Lynn Martin; three great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Mrs. J.R. Spence.

Fermon Richard Quinn
Graveside services for Fermon Richard Quinn, 80, of Dora will be at noon Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Shanghi Cemetery, the Rev. Randy Beck officiating.

Mr. Quinn died Monday, May 27 at Veteran’s Hospital in Tuscaloosa. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Shanghi Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II and was a member of Cunningham Lodge No. 512 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Pernie Blevins Quinn.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam (Bruce) Cooper of Dora; and one grandson, Chase Quinn Cooper.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Wanda Horsley Stephens Hayes
