Hobert Wallace Nelson
Services for Hobert Wallace Nelson, 78, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Ralph Andrews officiating, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nelson died Thursday, May 30 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 30, 1923 in Morgan County to Joseph Andrew and Becky Dora James Nelson. He was a retired salesperson for Werner’s Trading Company. He was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanette Mize Nelson; his grandson, Jeff Schmale; and five brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Roy) Schmale and Debbie (Mike) Heinl, both of Cullman; a sister, Flora Oden of Foley; and a granddaughter, Andrea (Jimi) Crooks.

Visitation was Friday.

Denelda Marie Osborn

Graveside services for Denelda Marie Osborn, 56, of Logan were Friday, May 31, 2002 at Addison Church of God Cemetery, Mr. Parker officiating.

Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Osborn died Monday, May 27 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her father, Percy Williams; and one daughter, Barbara Wilson.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Tyler, Robbie Allen and Scottie Ray Osborn, all of Cullman; a daughter, Sandra Moran of Cullman; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Ruth Burney of Cullman; his stepmother, Jean Cook of Addison; and five sisters, Delder Anders, Lisa Van Horn, Gayla Seymore, and Cindy Luker, all of Addison, and Gloria Avery of Cullman.

Brenda Jo Turner

Services for Brenda Jo Turner, 49, of Boaz will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Friendship Baptist Church, Jimmy Aaron and George Garner officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Rowan McRae Funeral Home of Boaz is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Turner died recently at her residence. She was born Dec. 24, 1952 to Robert E. and Mary Jo Snead.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Althea Turner.

Survivors include her parents; a brother, Rickey Turner of Snead; two sisters, Jana Burns of Guntersville and Myra LeMaster of Boaz; and her grandmother, Jewel Turner of Boaz.

Iris Georgia Holden Phillips

Graveside services for Iris Georgia Holden Phillips, 85, of Lopez Island, Wash., formerly of Joppa, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002 at New Hope Cemetery, New Hope, Ala.

Purdy and Walters with Cassidy of Everett, Wash. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Phillips died Oct. 26 of pneumonia at her residence. She was born in Joppa on Oct. 17, 1917. She was a teacher in New Hope and Houlaco.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Holden of Baileyton and Ed Holden of Akron, Ohio; and four sisters, Linnie Mitchell, Minnie Weissend, both of Cullman, Myrtle Guthrie of Joppa and Clara Lovvorn of New Hope.

Wilma Mauter Goeller
Services for Wilma Mauter Goeller, 74, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Moss Funeral Chapel, Dr. Phillip D. Young officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goeller died Sunday, June 2 at Tuscaloosa. She was born April 7, 1928. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton C. Mauter.

Survivors include her mother, Jewel Mauter of Cullman; a daughter, Kay (Michael) Kelley of Tuscaloosa; two brothers, C.R. (Steve) Mauter of Tuscaloosa and Fulton Mauter of Cullman; and a granddaughter, Michaela Kelley of Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Mary Francis Davenport Eady

Services for Mary Francis Davenport Eady, 70, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Living Faith Baptist Church, Larry Brown and Andrew Ball officiating, with burial in Valley Springs Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Eady died Saturday, June 1 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1932. She was a grocery cashier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lena Gossett Davenport.

Survivors include her husband, Venton Eady; a son Steven Eady; three daughters, Judy Lackey, Kathy Summerlin and Vickie Kelsoe; three brothers, James Davenport, Lee Davenport and Jimmy Davenport; two sisters, Annie Lou Waldrop and Charlotte Bishop; eight grandchildren, Sheila Boutwell, Tammy Lungsford, Sammy Johnson, Stephanie Guthery, Jason and Leanne Lackey, Carla and Christi Eady; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Flowers should be delivered to the church beginning at Tuesday morn.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, both to take place at Living Faith Baptist Church at Good Hope.

Ronald Keith McLeroy

Services for Ronald Keith McLeroy, 54, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McLeroy died Monday, June 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1948 in Cullman to Buddy and Cleo Elizabeth Lott McLeroy. He was a systems technician at Bell South. He was known for his quick wit.

Survivors include his parents; a son, Todd (Kathryn) McLeroy of Cullman; a daughter, Dana McLeroy (Matthew) Schoenbachler of Owensboro, Ky.; and six grandchildren, Meghan McLeroy, Molly McLeroy, Myles McLeroy, Adam Schoenbachler, Benjamin Schoenbachler, and Sarah Schoenbachler.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Eliga Pugh Sr.

Services for Eliga Pugh Sr., 84, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Gardendale Chapel, the Rev. Paul Rivers officiating, with burial in McCormick Cemetery.

Gardendale Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pugh died Sunday, June 2. He was retired from Birmingham Fabricating Company after 20 years of employment.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eliga Pugh Jr.; and one grandson, Kevin Pugh.

Survivors include his wife, Mandy Pugh; a son, Ronny Joe (Wanda) Pugh of Bremen; a daughter, Kathirene (Gene) Sykes of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Larry Sykes, Jason Pugh and Devin Pugh; three great-grandchildren, Brian Sykes, Katie Sykes and Chris Pugh; eight brothers; three sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Rachel Pugh.

Visitation was Monday.

Hewlet Neal Randolph

Services for Hewlet Neal Randolph, 78, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Village Chapel, the Rev. Timothy Davis officiating, with burial in Ferguson Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Village Chapel of Gadsden is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Randolph died Sunday, June 2 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was a retired sheet metal worker and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Myrtle Wiggs Randolph; three sisters, Emmie Richey, Flora Hagood and Josie Randolph; and four brothers, Rob, Claude, Silas, and Virgil Randolph.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Randolph of Bremen; and two sisters, Fay (Icy) Childs and Lassie Roden, both of Gadsden.

Ruby Estelle Askea Thrasher
Services for Ruby Estelle Askea Thrasher, 88, of Cullman will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jimmy Baker officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thrasher died Monday, June 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was a professional seamstress specializing in custom tailored clothing. She taught children’s Sunday School for over forty years. She was married to Leonard Uel Thrasher on Oct. 21, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include two daughters, Fayra Sue Thrasher (Wayne) Ray and Bonnie Thrasher (Danny) Martin; two sons, Leonard Lavell (Jackie) Thrasher and Thomas Lawayne (Peggy) Thrasher; six grandchildren, Elisia Ray (Don) Ferguson, Katrina Ray (Chris) Garnett, Steven Thrasher, David (Sherrie) Thrasher, Lisa Thrasher, and Bradley Thrasher; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Ferguson, Noah Garrett, Caleb Thrasher, and Lauren Thrasher.

Doris Linda Flack

Services for Doris Linda Flack, 56, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Billy Gable officiating, with burial in Bethsadia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Flack died Monday, June 3 at her residence. She was born Sept. 11, 1945 to James Coy and Hazell Marie Jackson. She was in retail sales.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, James R. Flack; two sons, Jackie Wayne Flack, Jimmy Wade Flack; two daughters, Kimberly Darlene Havard, Christy Michelle Pettus; mother; three brothers, Don Jackson, Winfred Jackson, Billy Jackson; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Paul Richard Upton

Services for Paul Richard Upton, 45, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Jerry Wilcutt officiating, with burial in Macedonia Cemetery in Oden Ridge.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Upton died Sunday, June 2 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1956 in Columbus, Ga. He was vice-president of Upton Produce.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Upton of Eva; his parents, Marvin and Doris Upton of Hanceville; a son, Alex Trent Upton of Eva; two brothers, Jimmy Upton and Ray Upton of Hanceville; and two sisters, Joann Upton of Hanceville and Ilene Chaney of California.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 today at the funeral home.
