Samuel Mardis

Services for Samuel Mardis, 86, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mardis died Saturday, June 15.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Belle Mardis.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Linda) Mardis of Cullman, Perry Mardis of Forestdale, Dwight Mardis of Hanceville; three daughters, Violet (John) Ragland of Morris, Brenda (Gregg) Doss of Good Hope, Genice (Charles) Sloan of Hueytown; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lizzie Jones, Lether Ann Bond, Virl Grimes and Mearl Jones.

Visitation was Monday.

Fred Wilson Rivers

Services for Fred Wilson Rivers, 67, of Arley were Monday, June 17, 2002 at Kemp Baptist Church, Steve Fincher, Robert Partridge and Fred R. Rivers officiating, with burial in Smith School House Cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers died Friday, June 14 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Howard.

Survivors include his wife, Janene Rivers of Arley; four sons, Fred R. Rivers, Gary Rivers and Danny Rivers, all of Arley, and David Rivers of Addison; a sister, Ernestine Gaines of Arley; a brother, Charles Rivers of Arley; and eight grandchildren.

Oma Foshee Green

Services for Oma Foshee Green, 86, of Falkville were Monday, June 17, 2002 at Roselawn Chapel, the Revs. Walter Schmidt and Jim Palmer officiating, with burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Roselawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Green died Friday, June 14 at her residence. She was born Jan. 21, 1916 to Charles Columbus and Martha Carrie Smith Foshee. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Green Colquett of Red Level; three sons, Donald Ray Green of Falkville, Clifford Ronald Green of Price ville and Randall Keith Green of Decatur; a brother, James Edward Foshee of Riverdale, Ga.; nine grandchildren; one step-grandchild; four great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Green, Bradley Colquett, Daniel Colquett, David Colquett, Stephen Colquett, Clif Green and Bill Tatum.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Visitation was Sunday.

Herman Lee Bradford Sr.
Services for Herman Lee Bradford Sr., 68, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Sherrel Hill officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bradford died Sunday, June 16 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 5, 1933 in Arkansas to George and Leona Caudle Bradford. He was an auto body and fender repairman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Bradford.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Parker Bradford; a daughter, Lynn Bradford; a son, Herman Lee Bradford Jr.; a sister, Betty Parker; two brothers, T.J. (Faye) Bradford and Jim Bradford; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Tassie Evelyn Douglas

Memorial services for Tassie Evelyn Douglas, 82, of Crestview, Fla. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 at her residence, Sidney Mac Johnson officiating.

Moss Service Funeral Home announces the arrangements.

Mrs. Douglas died April 27.

Survivors include a son, Jim Douglas; a daughter, Aneta Esenburg; two sisters, Arzola Parker, Faye Yates; five brothers, H.M. Johnson, Herb Johnson, Mac Johnson, Lloyd Johnson, Bill Johnson; two grandsons, James Douglas and Robert Douglas; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Douglas and Amber Douglas.

Annie Bell Holmes

Services for Annie Bell Holmes, 79, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Steve Rodgers and Dudley Brock officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Holmes died Monday, June 17 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1922 in Cullman County to George Henry and Idabell Scott Pitts. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Melvin Brummett and Gradus Holmes; two sons, Eugene Brummett and Wayne Brummett; three daughters, Dorothy Hafer, Kay Cason and Becky Brummett; and a grandson, Terry Brummett.

Survivors include a son, Wendell (Jo) Brummett of Eva; three daughters, Doris (Mac) McCune, Gail (Kenneth) Gilliland and Brenda (Charles) Wix, all of Cullman; a brother, Oscar Pitts of Virginia; a sister, Mildred Bannister of Arab; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clarence W. ‘Jake’ Schultz

Services for Clarence W. “Jake” Schultz, 84, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schultz died Tuesday, June 18 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County on Oct. 27, 1917 to Charles and Alice Watson Schultz. He was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Ruth Schultz; brothers, Clyde Schultz, Charles Schultz; and sister, Helen Travis.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Maria) Schultz of Cullman, Doug (Sandra) Schultz of Starkville, Miss.; daughter, Martha Ann Alldredge of Cullman; and sister, Opal Lane of Decatur.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Roger Dell Seals

Services for Roger Dell Seals, 49, of Fairview will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Carol Drinkard officiating, with burial in Simcoe Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Seals died Monday, June 17. He was born in Madison County on Jan. 29, 1953. He was a laborer at Bear Block Company.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Odell Pierce Seals; a sister, Edafaye Seals; and three brothers, James Seals, Carl Seals and Robbie Seals.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Weaver Seals; his father, Jackson (Ethel) Seals of Huntsville; a son, Dale (Cindy) Seals of Cullman; a daughter, Marcia (David) Stringer of Cullman; three brothers, Floyd (Clara) Seals of Huntsville, J.R. (Brenda) Seals and Willie Seals, both of Tennessee; three sisters, Virgie (Joe) Davis and Jean (Terry) Williams, both of Rogersville and Ann (Donnie) Dabbs of Huntsville; and six grandchildren, Tyler Stringer, Hannah Stringer, Christian Seals, Emille Seals, Shanna Thomas and Karli Thomas.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Ora Bell Cornelius

Services for Ora Bell Cornelius, 87, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Center Point Baptist Church, the Revs. Dean Estes and Wade Maynard officiating, with burial in Center Point Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cornelius died Sunday, June 16 in Huntsville. She was born in Cullman on March 2, 1915 to Alp and Katie Mae Littlejohn McIntosh. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Nelda (Don) Chambers of Cullman; four sons, Billy Cornelius, Birdis (Delores) Cornelius of Holly Pond, Ezell (Jean) Cornelius of Pinson, Larry (Linda) Cornelius of Hanceville; a daughter, Ressie (Hays) Hill of Cullman; a sister, Eva Mae Kuykendall of Cullman; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday.

Evelyn Ballard Grantham

Services for Evelyn Ballard Grantham, 80, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Marvin ‘Doc’ officiating, with burial in Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Grantham died Tuesday, June 18 in Cullman. She was born in Cullman County on Aug. 3, 1921 to J.L. and Sally Sullins Ballard. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Alton Grantham; and son, Robert Baldwin.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean (James) Clingan of Vinemont; sister, Velma Weldon; and one grandchild, Kim Brown of Clive, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Frances Grimmett

Services for Frances Grimmett, 66, of Hanceville were Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, the Revs. Mark Long and Jimmy Scott officiating, with burial in Mt. Grove Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Grimmett died Sunday, June 16 in Hanceville. She was born in Cullman County on Oct. 27, 1935 to Kermit and Bula Casey Cone. She was a sewing machine operator for Vanity Fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Grimmett of Hanceville; two brothers, Ray Cone and Ricky Cone, both of Hanceville; and three sisters, Betty Crawford and Kay Michelfelder, both of Hanceville and Laura McDaniel of Decatur.

Visitation was Monday.
