Memorial services for Billy Frank Self, 68, of Blountsville were Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Blountsville United Methodist Church, Joe Gamble and Elton Lowery officiating.

Mr. Self died Saturday, June 15 at his brother’s residence in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to Webster Hoy and Clyde Eller Self. He was a retired maintenance provider of Tyson Foods in Blountsville, a member of Blountsville United Methodist Church, and a member of J.B. Pennington Athletic Booster Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Self of Nashville, Tenn. and Ronald Self of Center Point; a sister, Betty Kuykendall of Center Point; three nieces; and six nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blountsville Athletic Department of J.B. Pennington High School in Blountsville.
Iris Georgia Holden Phillips
Graveside services for Iris Georgia Holden Phillips, 85, of Lopez Island, Wash., formerly of Joppa, were Sunday, June 9 at New Hope Cemetery in Holly Pond.
Purdy and Walters with Cassidy of Everett, Wash. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Phillips died Oct. 26 of pneumonia at her residence. She was born in Joppa on Oct. 17, 1917. She was a teacher in New Hope and Houlaco.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Holden of Baileyton and Ed Holden of Akron, Ohio; and four sisters, Linnie Mitchell, Minnie Weissend, both of Cullman, Myrtle Guthrie of Joppa and Clara Lovvorn of New Hope.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Phillips of Lopez Island, Wash.; a son, Wayne Phillips of Redding, Calif.; two daughters, Norma Ingham of Lopez Island, Wash. and Carol Switzer of Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
David Owen ‘D.O.’ McKoy
Services for David Owen “D.O.” McKoy, 86, of Cullman will be at 10 .am. Saturday, June 22, 2002 at First United Methodist Church in Cullman, Dr. Phil Young and Robert Murray officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Owen died Thursday, June 20 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 30, 1915 to Davis Owen and Mamie Sells McKoy. He was the owner of McKoy Salvage Store.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Jany Green McKoy; two sons, David O. (Carolyn) McKoy of Cullman and John Courtney McKoy of Arab; two daughters, Ann (Mack) McKoy Chapman of Birmingham and Jane (Floyd) McKoy Connell of Roswell, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Foundation Fund at 324 3rd Ave. SE, Cullman, Ala. 35055 or Alzheimer’s Foundation at 204 Green St., Todd Towers No. 106, Huntsville, Ala. 35801.

Theda Neal Sessions
Graveside services for Theda Neal Sessions, 79, of Springville will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2002 at Prospect Cemetery at Guthery’s Crossroads, Ray Davis officiating.

Mrs. Sessions died Wednesday, June 19 at Hearthstone Assisted Living Facility. She was born March 14, 1923 to Tommie and Agnes Guthery Neal. She was claims administrator at Social Security Administration.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Walter Rudolph Sessions Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Richard R. Sessions of Springville and Robert Sessions of Gadsden; three daughters, Ellis Crow of Carmel, Calif., Dot Harbst of Pittsburgh and Ann Ivey of Birmingham; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Cemetery Fund in care of Billie Blankenship at 3731 County Road 820 Logan, Ala. 35098.
There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Family will meet at the cemetery for the service.
Mickey O. Adams
Graveside services for Mickey O. Adams, 45, of Blountsville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Nectar Cemetery in Cleveland, the Rev. Richard Adams officiating.

Mr. Adams died Wednesday, June 12 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 3, 1956 in Moline, Ill. He was a Golden Key Club member, a lifetime National Rifle Association member, and a member of the National Honor Society.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Adams.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Thomas Adams of Blountsville; two brothers, the Rev. Richard Adams of Iowa and Andrew Adams; and three sisters, Mary C. Adams and Donna Schultze, both of Blountsville, and Patricia Lilly of Dixon, Ill.
Mary Susie Bailey
Services for Mary Susie Bailey, 86, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Brady Kilgo and Albert Dean Estes officiating, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey died Friday, June 21 at Woodland Village Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 23, 1915 in Georgia to Tom and Mattie Phillips McGukin. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a son, Kinnie (Dianne) Bailey; five sisters, Ruby Bahr, Maude Phillips, Dorothy (Franklin) Phillips, Edna Henry, and Zettie Rose Sutton; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Bailey and Onita McGukin.

Sister Mary Susan Sevier
Services for Sister Mary Susan Sevier, 87, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 at Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel, Abbott Cletus Meagher officiating, with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Sister Mary died Thursday, June 20 at Sacred Heart Monastery. She was born July 29, 1914 in Wylam to William Rhea and Nell Kearney Sevier. She entered Sacred Heart Monastery on Sept. 8, 1932 and made final profession July 18, 1937. She was elected prioress of Sacred Heart Monastery on June 8, 1953 and served in that capacity until 1965. She served as president of the Federation of St. Scholastica from 1962 until 1971. She was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Kearney Sevier; and a sister, Ann Rhea Sevier Fischer.
Pallbearers will be Robert Baker Sevier, John Sevier, William Rhea Sevier, Charles Henry Sevier, Dennis Stephen Mackin, James Griswold Sevier.
Reception of the body, vespers and visitation will be from 4:45 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel.
Maxine Yvonne ‘Polly’ Knopp

Mrs. Knopp died Thursday, June 20 at Baptist Montclair Hospital. She was born in Cullman County on July 2, 1937 to Buford Joe David and Claudie Mae McKeinze Rodgers. She was a waitress at Wafflehouse.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, William “Earl” Knopp of Cullman; two sons, Garry (Edna) Knopp and Darrell Knopp both of Cullman; a daughter, Carolyn Yvone Knopp of Cullman; two brothers, Dave (June) Rodgers of Cullman and Donald (Reda) Rodgers of Holly Pond; four sisters, Weida Ray of Hanceville, Linda (Ronnie) Phillips, Jane (Benny) Day and Sharon (Al) Stanley all of Albertville; seven grandchildren, Crissy and Steve Boling, Ashton, Allison, Myles, Jasmine “J.J.”, and Logan; and one great-grandchild, Megan.

Mildred O. Trantham
Graveside services for Mildred O. Trantham, 82, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Duck River Cemetery.

Mrs. Trantham died Thursday, June 20 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 21, 1919 in St. Clair County to Robert Alexander and Mary Overton. She was a licensed practical nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Goldie Adkins and Leetha Whisenant; and two brothers, Albert Overton and Robert Overton.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Jean Brothers; a grandson, Dennis Brothers; two great-grandchildren, Allie Brothers and Lecil Brothers, all of Oneonta; and a sister-in-law, Jessie Overton.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Talley died Tuesday, June 18 at Veterans Hospital. He was born in Cullman County on May 27, 1927 to William and Ada Talley. He was an auto body repairman and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen (Ercie) Shipp of Hanceville; two sons, Freddie (Tressa) Talley of Hanceville and Meltion (Vickey) Talley of Cullman; a sister, Lillian Burr of Michigan; a brother, Benjamin F. Talley of Florida; eight grandchildren, Nick Handley, Amanda Shipp, Matthew Shipp, Charla Talley, Mirissa Talley, Nathan Talley, Miranda Shipp and Windle Talley; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Shipp; and an ex-wife, Mary Louis Blethem of Hanceville.

Gurney Victor Legg
Services for Gurney Victor Legg, 88, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Calvert officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Mr. Legg died Sunday, June 23 at Woodland Village Health Care. He was born Oct. 3, 1914 to W.H. and Cora Lee Persall Legg. He was a barber and a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Doice Legg and C.T. Legg.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Sterling Legg; a brother, Prentice A. Legg of Mobile; two sisters, Wanza Jordan of Cullman and Jean Pederson of Ridgefield, Conn.; and special friend, Janice Stephens of Cullman.
Visitation was Monday.
