Mr. Robert David Thompson Sr., 70, of Ozark, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. from Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 3 p.m. today until one hour prior to service time when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.
Mr. Thompson was a 37 year employee of Pea River Electric Cooperative, serving in many capacities including general manager. He was active in Rural Electrification Legislation on a state and national level. Mr. Thompson also served two terms as president of the Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and served 28 years in the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by one brother, Ara W. Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Smith Thompson, Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Greg Abercrombie, Huntsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert David Jr. and Lisa Thompson, Ozark; one broth- er, William K. Thompson Sr., Troy; five grandchildren, Matt Abercrombie, Emily Abercrombie, Will Abercrombie, Natalie Thompson and Lorilyn Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980-D East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360, or Ozark Baptist Church Building Fund, 314 South Union Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.

Mahalia Woodson, 55, a resident of Ozark, Ala. died Monday Jan. 31, 2000 in the Pike Manor Nursing Home in Troy Ala.
The service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at the Friendship A.M.E. Church in Ozark Ala. Officiating minister is the Rev. M. Coleman and Burial will be in the church cemetery in Clopton, Ala.

Mr. Nathaniel Owens, a resident of Ozark, Ala., died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Ala.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at the Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in the Johnstown Community (Ozark, Ala.), with the Rev. Ellison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements will be handled by the Trawick Ozark Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lillie Fenn, a resident of Ozark Ala., died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Ala.
Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000 in the St. Paul A.M.E. Church on E. Andrews Ave., in Ozark, Ala., with Pastor the Rev. Horace Fitchard Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Clopton, Ala.

Mr. Travis Tharpe, age 69, of Ozark, died early Thursday morning, Jan 27, 2000, at the Dale Medical Center following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, from the Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 1 p.m. today until service time Sunday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors this afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m.
Mr. Tharpe was a native of Dale County, where he had owned and operated Tharpe's Seafood and Tharpe's Bar-B-Q for a number of years. He retired from Dyncorp following 18 years of service with the government contractors at Fort Rucker. He was a member of Midland City Masonic Lodge #504, and Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark. Mr. Tharpe was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Tharpe, and his parents, Will and Estelle Tharpe.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Waters and her husband, Lamar, Midland City and Kay Ausbon and her husband, Bo Ewell Community; one son, Kevin Tharpe and his wife, Janice, Midland City; seven sisters, Gladys Downs, Jo Anne Ingram, Ozark, Sue Solomon, Newton Dorothy Kelly Kingsport, Tenn, Pearl Asodi, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Shelia Mooney, Oxford, Ala., Christine Hinmon, Ozark; one brother, Norman Tharpe; a special friend, Ms. Jim Jeffcoat, Ozark; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Mrs. Lillie Fenn, a resident of Ozark, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Trawick Funeral Home.

Msgt. (Retired) John H. Davis Sr., 77, Ozark, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in Tuskegee, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday Jan. 23, 2000 from Westview Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. W.L. Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow with full military rites, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from noon Sunday, Jan. 23 2000, until time to depart for the services.
Msgt. (Retired) Davis was a native of Texas having lived in various places while serving in the United States Air Force, a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring in 1962 following 21 1/2 years of service. He has been a resident of Ozark since 1972, a member of V.F.W. Post 6020 in Daleville, Retired Sergeants Association of The Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa S. Davis, Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Myra Rose and Lex Morrill, Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Allen and Terrie Davis, Selma, Calif., John H. Jr. and Beverly Davis, Kyburz, Calif., 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. John L. Bottoms, age 88, of Rt. 1, Ozark, Ala., died at his residence Wednesday morning, Jan. 19, 2000.
A private family graveside service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery today, Jan. 21, 2000 with the Rev. Carl Coulliette and the Rev. Ken Spivey officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Survivors include: his wife, Inez Bottoms, Ozark, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Jeanette Monk, Ozark, Ala.; one stepson, Jerome Graves, Ozark, Ala.; and one niece, Genny Swann, Maryland.

Mrs. Eva F. Richardson, age 94, of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, 2000 in Dale Medical Center following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Pippins and the Rev. William B. Easterling officiating.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark, Ala., directing. Visitation will begin at 5:30 Wednesday night until one hour prior to service time, when her body will be placed in the church.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, a native and lifelong resident of Dale County, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Richardson, in 1996.
Mrs. Richardson retired from the Dale County School System where she taught. She also taught Sunday school and held several positions within the church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions are requested to be given to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Fund.
She is survived by: three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Richardson of Panama City Fla., Jerome and Shirley Richardson of Ozark, Ala., and Jansen and Judye Richardson of Montgomery Ala.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

First Sgt., (retired) E-8, Joseph S. Wichowski, age 78, of Hudson Circle, Ozark, Ala., died Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, 2000 in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Ala., following a long illness.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Father Chuck McCabe officiating and full military honors at graveside with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Visitation will begin at 6 tonight from the Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel until time to leave for the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight.
Sgt. Wichowski retired in June 1973 from the United States Army after serving 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Cordulia Wichowski; and a son, Patrick Wichowski.
Sgt. Wichowski was baptized Jan. 5, 1922 in the Roman Catholic Church in Camden, N.J.
Survivors include: his wife of 26 years, Della C. Wichowski of Ozark, Ala.; three daughters, Tina Marie Maulden of New Brockton, Ala., Paulette Manning of North Carolina, and Rose Marie Wichowski of North Carolina; three sons, Joseph Wichowski Jr., Ozark, Ala., James Wichowski of Bonifay, Fla., and Robert Wichowski of Virginia; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.

Mrs. Luverne Chambers, 63, of Ozark, Ala., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000 in Enterprise, Ala.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 22, 2000 in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Louisville, Ala., with the Rev. John T. Hines Jr., pastor.

Mr. Willie McClenden Jr., 71, a resident of Ozark, Ala., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Ala.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 22, 2000 in the Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church on Reynolds Street in Ozark, Ala. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery.

Mr. Harmon Howard, LTC. U.S. Army Ret., age 77, died at his home on Jan. 14, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home today from 3 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family suggests memorials be made to Bridalwood Chapel or Wiregrass Hospice of Ozark.
Family graveside services will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. Memorial services will be held a a later date with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Beverly Billington Howard; his children, James, Katherine and Meredith; four grandchildren; and two sisters.

Mr. Charles Claude Prescott, age 61, of Ozark died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at the Dale Medical Center.
The service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 from the Fudua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight with the Rev. Glen Pippin officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Prescott was preceded in death by his parents, Phines and Eunice Prescott; one sister, Shirlene Kelley; and three brothers, Desford, John and Junior Prescott.
Mr. Prescott is survived by: one daughter, Janet Teague (Robert), Ozark; two sons, Chuck Prescott (Suzanne), Brantley, and Michael Prescott, Ozark; three sisters, Louise Anderson (Edgar), Albany, Ga., Jo Ellis (Jim), Branson, Mo., and Grace Swiger (Norman), Ozark; and two grandchildren, Elliot Teague and Zachary Prescott.

Mr. B.E "Buddy" Williams, 87, of Ozark, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday Jan. 14, 2000 from the Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 3 p.m. today, Jan. 13, 2000 until one hour prior to service time when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6-8 tonight.
Mr. Williams was born in Early County, Georgia, residing in Ozark since 1943. Since 1947, Mr. Williams engaged in heavy construction, building airports during World War II, highways for the States of Alabama, Georgia and Florida, and private subdivisions, streets and other commercial property.
From 1960 to 1964, he served as a councilman for the City of Ozark. He was elected to a term as chairman of the Dale County Commission. He served as a member of the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, holding membership and terms as chairman for 16 years.
Mr. Williams contributed to recreation in Ozark through organization and sponsorship of the Little Boys League for more than 20 years. From 1947 through 1951, he was general manager of a Class "D" Minor League team, the Ozark Eagles. He was an original inductee of the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame.
He was a charter member and officer of the Ozark Rotary Club and a sustaining member of the Boy Scouts of America. He served as president of the Ozark Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Roadbuilders Association.
Mr. Williams served as Deacon Emeritus in the Ozark Baptist Church and president of the Board of Trustees; He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Leadell Dameron Williams, Ozark; four daughters, Mary Dixon, Huntsville, Linda Parker, Warsaw, N.C., Sylvia Dodgen and Cynthia Lanier, Ozark; two sons, Bryant Williams Jr., and Ray Williams, Ozark; two sisters, Marisa Allen and Eylay Bains, Columbus, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ozark Baptist Church Building Fund, 314 S. Union Ave., Ozark, AL 36360.

Mrs. Bonnie Dell Bowman, 94, of Rt. 6, Ozark, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 12, 2000 in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 14, 2000 from the Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Dams officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 tonight, Jan. 13, 2000 until service time on Friday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors 6-8 tonight.
Mrs. Bowman was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County, where she was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Bowman.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Carmie Bowman, Dothan; a special niece, Betty Fain and her husband Emmett, Ozark; one brother, John L. Paramore, Ozark; two grandchildren, Jamie Bowman and his wife Ellen, and Mitchell Bowman, Dotham and one great-grand- child, Katie Ellen Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pleasant Grove Building Fund, Attn.: Gail Peters, Rt. 2, Box 716, Ozark, AL 36360, or the chari ty of your choice.

Mrs. Ruth May Honaker, age 89, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 at Dale Medical Center in Ozark, Ala.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 8, 2000 from the Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelsey Brantley officiating. Burial followed from the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral home directing.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2000. Survivors include: one son, Benjamin and Shirley Honaker of Ozark, Ala.; one sister, Helen C. Glumm of Coventry, R.I.; and three grandchildren, Tammy Fayard of Enterprise Ala., Robin Morris of Ozark, Ala., and Mark Honaker of Enterrise, Ala.

Mr. James E. Baty, 62, a resident of Ozark, Ala. died at his residence on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000 in the Church of Christ on Martin L. King Ave., in Ozark, with the Pastor Rev. Willie Standford officiating. Burial will be in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Trawick Funeral Home directing.

William Alexander Whaley, age 84, died Thursday Jan. 4, 2000, at Flowers Hospital, Dothan.
Funeral services will be 2 p,m. Friday Jan. 7, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Billy Gaither and Rev. Michael Lawler officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery with Fuqua- Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday until one hour before service time when the body will be placed in the church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Whaley was a life-long resident of Dale County. He was the son of Jesse and Lillie Carmichael Whaley. He was one of five children. Mr. Whaley joined the family business, Whaley Brothers upon his graduation from high school in 1933. Whaley Brothers department store was established in 1900 and served the community until Mr. Whaley's retirement in 1992. He was a devoted husband of 61 years and a devoted father. Mr. Whaley married Mellie Skipper Whaley on Nov. 6, 1938. He was a veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Ozark Civitan Club, the Ozark/Dale Co. Chamber of Commerce, and the Ozark Merchant's Association. Mr. Whaley was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church, having served in various capacities.
He is survived by his wife Mellie Skipper Whaley of Ozark; one daughter, Kathy Edwards, of Ft. Mill, S.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wanda Whaley of Waxhaw, N.C.; five grand children, Melise Lawrence, Mickey Whaley, Ian Edwards, Matthew Whaley, Heather Edwards and Richard Peterson; four great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Dorothy Scheafnocker, 79, died Sunday morning, Jan. 2, 2000, in Dale Medical Center Ozark following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time to leave for the cemetery Wednesday from the funeral home.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Sandra L. and Jerry D. Johnson, Columbia, S.C.; son, Rick Scheafnocker, Ozark; sister, June Beck, West Middlesex, Pa.; two grandchildren, Chad Johnson and Jeremy Johnson; and one great-granddaughter, Renee Johnson.

Mrs. Irona Smith, a resident of Ozark, Ala., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2000 at her residence.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan 7, 2000, at 2:30 p.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church on East Andrews Ave. in Ozark with Dr. S.c. Jackson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Trawick Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Mary V. Lisenby, 78, of Ozark, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000 in Birmingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Lisenby Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Ozark with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Tuesday until service time Wednesday. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Lisenby graduated from Dale County High School and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery and Troy State University. She held the state title of Miss Ozark in 1939. She served the community as a school teacher and retired from a professional career at Fort Rucker. She was a lifetime member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Ozark where she played the piano. She was the daughter of the late Mayor Needham Gordon Marley and the late Jewel Marley of College Street in Ozark.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Nena Ruth Wells and Luanna Marley; and son, Needham Gordon Lisenby. She was the wife of the late, Samuel Jesse Lisenby Sr. of Ozark.
She is survived by three sons, Samuel Jesse Lisenby Jr., Carey Lex Lisenby, and Stanley Marley Lisenby; all of Birmingham; two brothers, Needham Gordon Marley Jr., Headland, and Sam Brown Marley, Dothan.

Mrs. Josephine A. Calfee, 63, of 172 Deepwood Ave., Beckley, W.V, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999 in Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today from the graveside of Penile Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Calfee was born Dec. 6, 1936 at Whitesville. She was the daughter of Charles G. and Vera Oretha Allen Rogers. Mrs. Calfee was a homemaker and had been a Beckley resident for the past five years, having lived most of her life in Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Manual F. Payne; her second husband, John Henry McDaniel;; two sisters, Oretha Trump, and Ellen Synder; and a brother, Charles G. Rogers Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Herschel Robert Calfee, Beckley, W.V.; daughter, Leila Payne, Dothan; two brothers, Oscar Rogers, Glen Rogers, W.V ., and Robert Rogers, Lakewood, Ohio; and five sisters, Joyce Green o, Parma, Ohio, Genevieve of Eunice, W.V., Eleanor Hines, Fort Mitchell, Orpha Ward, Friendly View, W.V., and Argie Whitt, Cleveland.
