Kay Bess Childers, 61, was called to her heavenly home by our loving and merciful God on Monday, Nov. 6, 2000. She was surrounded by her family The graveside service will be held in Blue Springs, Ala., at Magnolia Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000.
Local arrangements will be handled by Holman Funeral Home of Ozark, Ala. Kay was born on March 15, 1939, in Miami, Fla., to Kenneth and Kathleene Bess. She and her husband moved to W P B. in 1966. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, former Florida Senator Dormell C. Childers, formerly of Blue Springs and Skipperville, Ala. Donnell was a graduate of Dale County High School and Troy State University; three children, two sisters, three grandchildren, and many other relatives.
Jessie B. Miller, 75, of Ozark, died Saturday morning, November 4, 2000, at his home following a short illness.
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Monday, November 6, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment followed in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Miller was a native of Dale County and a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Mallie Ree Rogers, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Reba Wright, Ozark; one brother, William T. Miller, Ozark; one special sister-in-law, Carolyn Miller, Ozark.
John W. Milldrum Sr., 77, Ozark, died Friday, Nov 3, at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorothy Tomlin officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. from the Clayton Methodist Church in Clayton, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Milldrum lived most of his life in Barbour County. He was born in Alexandria, La., June 25 1923. He retired in June 1980, due to health reasons, from his family's lifelong business, Milldrum Drug Store. He then moved to live with his daughter (Ginny) Milldrum Culley until his death. He was also an U.S. Army Veteran, having served in WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Thomas Milldrum and Clara Regina West, and one brother Clarence Thomas Milldrum, Jr. Survivors include two daughters Virginia Lynn (Bruce) Culley, Ozark; Angela Williams Ozark; one son, John W. Milldrum, Jr., Dothan; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thelma Mae Griggs, age 82, Ozark, dicd Nov. 3, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. from Asbury U.M.C. with the Rev. Ken Spivey officiating. Burial
will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight

Mrs. Griggs was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a native and lifelong resident of Dale County.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alto M. Griggs. Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law, William H. and Judy Griggs, Ozark; John Marshall Griggs, Panama City, Fla.; Robert D. and Linda Griggs, Newton; Mixon O'Neal and Sandra Griggs, Dothan; Mickey A. and Kathy Griggs, Ozark; one brother, Bill Bottom, Ozark; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. H. L. Daughtry, 77, of Ozark, died Friday November 3, 2000, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.

Myrtice Weed Peters, 95, died Wednesday, Novernber 1, 2000, in Fairhope.
She was a native and longtime resident of Dale County. Mrs. Peters was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and was the oldest member of the original Sunday school class at Ozark Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, James Norris Peters of Loxley, Billy Clifton Peters of Daphne; one sister, Maude Weed Phillips of Ozark; two brothers, Arlis [Ruth] Weed, Luther [Jean] Weed, both of Ozark; four grandchildren, Charlotte [Chip] Wellington of Seattle, WA, Sheila [Bob] Wilkins of Daphne, Clifton Peters of Daphene, Leigh Peters of Knoxville, TN; two sisters-in-law, Clara Weed of Ozark, Lucy Weed of Ozark.
Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her husband. George Curtis Peters, and a son, Ed Peters.
The funeral was held Thursday, November 2, at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Harold Ernest Mixson, 78, of Ozark, died Tuesday October 31, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, November 2, 2000, from Skipperville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pam Freeman, the Reverend Herbert Whatley, and the Reverend Dr. Rex Mixson officiating. Interment will follow in Skipperville Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Mixson was a native of Skipperville and a member of the Skipperville United Methodist Church where he was a past member of The Administrative Board, and The Bible Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II and a survivor of the Battle of The Bulge. Mr. Mixson retired from Civil Service at Fort Rucker following 24 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Marshall Mixson, Ozark, two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard O'Connell, Ozark, and Sandra and Emmett Poundstone, Pike Road, AL, one special sister-in-law, Jane Lavender, Ariton, two sisters, Evelyn Parker, Enterprise, and Kathryn Piper, Dothan, two brothers, Whigham Mixson, Ozark, and Dr. Andrew Mixson, Raleigh, NC, two grandchildren, Sean O'Connell, Fort Polk, LA, and Sarah Margaret Poundstone, Pike Road, AL.
Mrs. Nyral Frances Danner, 8, of Ariton, the Elam Community died Monday morning, October 30, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P M. Wednesday November 1, 2000, from Elam Baptist Church with the Reverend John Cook and the Reverend Kenneth Earles officiating. Interment will follow in Elam Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 3:00 P M. Mrs. Danner was a native of Barbour County the daughter of the late Beulah Carrie Phillips and Robert Manus Rhodes. She was a member of Elam Baptist Church and a homemaker. She and Mr. Danner would have celebrated their 6lst Wedding Anniversary on November 4, 2000. Mrs. Danner was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Rhodes and Clarence Rhodes, one sister, Marietta Burke and her stepmother Jewell Rhodes.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, P L. Danner Jr., Ariton, one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Joe Allen, Pintlala, Al, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert P. Danner, Mobile, Tyrone R. and Peggy Danner, Malvern, and Alan L. and Gay Danner Rex, Ga, eight grandchildren, Matthew Allen, Pintlala, Al, Amanda Rhea Danner, Ariton, Al, Roy Patrick Danner Cottonwood, Al, Toni Roberts, Malvern, Wesley Roberts, Troy Johna Roberts, Malvern, Lucas Ryan Danner, Salt Lake City Utah and Alana Leigh Danner Rex, Ga, two brothers, Hollis T. Mrs. Callie Madeline Pool, 96, of Ozark, died Monday, Oct. 30 in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Stella Boudrage Bachmaga, 89, of Dothan, died Sunday October 29, 2000, in Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at St. Rose Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Bachmaga was a native of Poland, having lived in Carbondale, Pennsylvania most of her life, and in Alabama since
1994. She was preceded in death by one son, Charlie McAlister and one daughter Marion Ballsavage.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Joan and John Addesa, Dothan, and Rose Marie Tech, Jermyn, PA. Twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. James Thomas Johnston, age 83, of Ozark, died Sunday, Oct. 29, at Oakview Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Chaplin Clifton Quincy officiating. A private graveside service will be at a later date, Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin today at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again Wednesday until time of service. Johnston served in the U.S. Army during WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam before his retirement.

Mr. Raymond D. Hall, age 81, Ozark, died Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be Friday Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. from Mt. Enon Cemetery with the Rev. Shawn Hall officiating and Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Lorene Hall; h.is wife, Nannie Bostick Hall; and two brothers, Johnny Hall and Foy Hall.

Mrs. Lillie B. Ketcham Shell, 84, of Martin Street, Ozark, died at her home Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday from St. Johns Catholic Church with Father Charles J. (Chuck) McCabe officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. A prayer service will be held from 6:30 until 8 p.m. tonight.
Mrs. Shell was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, native and life long resident of Dale County, Ala. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Ozark for many years.

Bertie Jean Smith Henderson, age 63, of Ozark Rt. 1 (Echo community), died late Tuesday afternoon, October 24 2000, in a Dothan hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Thursday, October 26, 2000, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with Rev. Phil Craddock officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Methodist Church Cemetery, near Newville.
Mrs. Henderson was a native of Henry County the daughter of the late Charlie James Smith and Zell Dessie Goff Smith. She had lived in Echo since childhood. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Smith and Danny Smith and also a sister Myrtle Smith.
Surviving are her husband, Foy Henderson, Ozark Rt. 1; two sons, Donnie Foy Henderson, Ozark Rt. l; and Ricky Allen Henderson, Skipperville Rt. l; two sisters, Linda Gayle Doster, Ozark, and Gloria Jean Hendricks, Ft. Rucker; a brothcr, Joseph D. Smith, Grimes; three grandchildren, Shane Henderson, Tenisa Henderson and Ranee Henderson; one great-grandchild, Toby Lee Gumpenberger.
Mrs. Lurlene Bouyer Dean, 73, Ozark, died Sunday evening, Oct. 22, in a Dothan hospital as a result of injuries sustained during an assault in her home Friday evening.

Mrs. Dean was a native of Elba, having lived in Ozark the past 48 years. She retired from Archer Daniels Midland Columbian Peanut Co./Golden Peanut Co.) in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Dean, in 1988. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law Judy Irvin, Las Vegas, Nev.; Angela and Bill DeLoney, Dothan; her mother, Mrs. Zadie Bouyer Elba; one sister Chris Jacobs, Elba; two grandchildren, Todd Tyler Ozark, Scott Tyler Orlando, Fla.; two step-grandchildren, Bill DeLoney and Cameron DeLoney, Dothan; one great-grandson, Austin Tyler Ozark.
Mrs. Willie Mae Lewis, 86, of Ozark, died Friday morning, October 20, 2000, in Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Mr. Lloyd Myron Buhrmann, 77, of 211 Martin St., Ozark, Ala., died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Oakview Manor in Ozark after a long illness.

Andrew Clifton Downs, 81, of Ozark died October 6 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Downs was a member of Radar Memorial Methodist Church, Miami Shores, Fla., was a WW II veteran, a member of V F.W. and American Legion, Moose Lodge, South Florida Boy Scout and Cub Scout organization leader. He was an honorary member and received a special citation from International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1375, honorary member of Red Knights of South Florida Chapter I, retired member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 519, retired member of United Association AFL-CIO.
Mr. Downs relocated to Ozark from south Florida in 1978. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Downs of Ozark; one daughter, Amy Carol Downs of Ozark; two sons, Jack C. Downs and Gene A Downs, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; two sisters, Vernie .Warren of Leesburg, Va. and Ruby Dimsey of Lansdowne, Va.; four grandchildren, Ginger and Kim, Donnie and Doug; four great grandchildren, Amanda, Paul Jr., Jonathon, and Andrew.
Mr. Edsel Matthews "Skeex" Jackson, 76, of the Rocky Head Community of Ariton, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2000, at the home of his son in Ozark following an extended illness.

Mr. Jackson was born in Dale County to Benie Violet Matthews and Charlie Radford Jackson, on January 18, 1924. He was a member of Rocky Head Baptist Church, the Brundidge V F. W., the Ariton Masonic Lodge #171, and the Brundidge American Legion. Mr. Jackson served in the United States Army during World War II, then worked with Riley Bus Lines in Ozark, Dominey Chevrolet in Ozark, and owned and operated Jackson Service Station and Repair Shop on Hwy. 231 near Little Ariton for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Woodrow, Rex, and Charles Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Jean Byrd Jackson, Ariton, two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne (Howell) Joiner and her husband, Jimmy Ozark, Benie Adkinson and her husband, Durl, Ariton, three sons and one daughters-in-law, Larry N. Jackson, Edsel M., Jackson, Jr.,. and Kathy, Ozark, Terry W. Jackson and his wife, Terrie Lynn, Ariton, one brother, John Pershing Jackson, Orlando, Fla., 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Bert W. Hughes, 92, of Midland City formerly of Ozark, died Monday morning, Oct. 2 2000, in Westside Terrace, following an extended illness.

Mr. Hughes was a native of Bay County, Florida, living in Ozark and Midland City most of his life. He worked with Holman Vault and Monument Company in Ozark for 20 years, retiring in 1970. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Williams Hughes, in 1996, and a son, Clifford Hughes, in 1966.
Survivors include three daughter, and sons-in-laws, Evelyn Ross and her husband, Bunnie, Perry, Fla., Sue Tison and her husband, Allen, Dothan, Ala., and Sherry Icenogle and her husband, Bernie, Dothan, Ala., five sons and four daughters-in-law, Joe Hughes and his wife, Donna, ldaho Falls, Idaho; Robert Hughes, Houston, Texas, Don Hughes and his wife, Sandra, Cleveland, Ohio, Johnny Hughes and his wife, Joan Ozark, and Charles Shepherd and his wife, Bonnie, Ozark. 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Whatley, Jr., Ozark, three daughters and sons-in-law, Arin and Jerry Andrews, Ozark, Cathy and Clayton Ward, Ozark, Lisa and Lewis Lange, Anchorage, Alas- ka, two sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Debbie Whatley, Todd and Shelley Whatley all of Ozark, two grandchildren, Jennifer Whatley David Whatley both of Ozark, one brother and sister-in-law, Connie and Elizabeth Kirkland, Edison, Ga., 20 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
