Mr. Andrew A. Kekel, 73, of Ozark, died Thursday, January 3, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a. m. Monday, January 7, 2002, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles J. McCabe officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002, in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla., with full military honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 10 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2002, with the family receiving friends from 70 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Mr. Kekel was born May 12, 1928 in Michigan, where he grew up and enlisted the U.S. Army, serving for 22 years and retiring as a Master Sergeant. He then worked for 15 years at Chrysler Corporation in Michigan as a superintendent. Mr. Kekel enjoyed fishing, but his real pleasure was golf. After his retirement, he and his wife spent a few years traveling across America in their travel trailer, and finally settled down in Ozark nine years ago. Among his many virtues was his sense of humor, his patience, and his ability to tell a good story.
Mr. Kekel was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Ruskovski and Andrew Kekel.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Kekel, Ozark; one daughter, Lynn Kruhlik, Wolverine, Mich.; two sons, Andrew Kekel, Boise, Idaho, and Michael, San Clemente, Calif.; one brother, Jerome Kekel, Frankfort, Mich.; two sisters, Delores Bcnnett, Summerfield, Fla., and Betty Lou Kidd, Davison, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Benjamin, Johnathan, Rebekah, Elle Lauren, and Christian; one step-granddaughter, Shaunna; and one great granddaughter, Hannah.
Mr. Roger (Big-Um) Barnes, 47, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 at SEAMC in Dothan.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2002 from the Friendship A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. Moses Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Tuesday; for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Barnes was born May 9, 1954 to the late Roy Smith and mother, Dorothy L. Barnes. He was a graduate of Carroll High School in 1973.

Mr. George Edwin Boose, age 61 of Rt. 6 Ozark, died January 1, 2002 at his residence following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy West officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 2 p.m. until service time Thursday.
Mr. Boose was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Mary Jane Boose, Ozark; one daughter, Melisa Gayle Balke, Cole Camp, Mo.; two sons, Gregory Allen Boose and Mark Anthony Boose, Ozark; mother, Ann Louise Boose, Downers Grove, Ill.; one sister, Tippy Castano, Downers Grove, Ill. and five grandchildren also survive.
Virgil Kenneth King, 99, of 605 Kelly Avenue, Midland City, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2001, in a Dothan hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. l, 2002, in the Midland City Baptist Church with Rev. Roger
Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until
7:00 p.m. Monday at the mortuary in Headland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Dale Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 542, Midland City, Al. 36350.
Mr. King was born in Ozark, Alabama Dec. 3, 1902, the son of the late Josiah Wilson King and Amanda Clark King. His parents moved to Pinckard, Alabama, in his early life where he resided until he moved to Midland City in 1945. Mr. King was a partner, with his brother Phillip Percy King, in the operation of P. P. King Tire Company in Midland City for thirty-two years until the death of his brother in 1975.
Mr. King formerly served as chairman of the Dale County Republican Party and also had served on the Republican State Executive Committee. In 1960, he was an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago. Mr. King had been a member of the Midland City Baptist Church since 1945 where he served as a Deacon, church treasurer and Sunday School secretary and was also a charter member of the Brotherhood.
He was a Master Mason, Knights of Pythias Lodge, a member of the United Commercial Travelers and was also charter member of the Midland City Lions Club. In earlier years, Mr. King was active in the Midland City Quarterback Club.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife Virgie Edwards King; five brothers Phillip Percy King, James W. King, Charles Watson King, Harry Martin King and Leme Frank King; and two sisters, Lillian Virginia King and Eunice King McCoy.
Surviving relatives include two daughters Jenny Holman and her husband, Merritt Holman, Dothan; Kay Armstrong and her husband, Joe Armstrong, Midland City; four grandchildren Haden Holman Payne and,her husband, David Payne, Montgomery; Brian Merritt Holman and his wife, Robin Holman, Dothan; Joel Adam Armstrong and wife Brittney Armstrong, Columbia; Anna Whitney Armstrong, Midland City; two great-grandchildren, Brian Alexander Holman and Robert Harrison Holman both of Dothan; a sister, Ruth King Russell, Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Mary Riseden and Mary Parten.

MSGT U.S. Army (Ret.) Ollian "Bay" Hazle, 70, of Ozark, died Sunday December 30, 2001.
Funeral services will be Wednesday; Jan. 2, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Interment will follow, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark, with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday night at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Hazle was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley & Grace Hazle.
He retired from the U.S. Army with 26 years of service, also having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Then he retired from P.H.I. with 15 years of service.
Survivors include: three daughters, Patricia Echevarrias, Enterprise, Pamela (Patrick) Lord, Headland, and Rebecca (Vernon) Johnson, Echo; one sister, Charlotte (Frankie) Pointer, Anniston, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Tony Macarther Barrow, 30, of Ozark, died Saturday Dec. 29, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Rose Baptist Church in Skipperville with the Rev. Walter Pogue officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Mr. Barrow will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Barrow was employed by Ozark striping and will be missed by many friends and family.

Mr. Jerry Loyd Potts, 53, of Echo, died Thursday morning, December 27, 2001, at his home folowing an brief illness.

Mr. Potts was a native of Batesville, Miss., having lived in Echo for the past 14 years. He retired following 20 years of service in the U.S. Army where he was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals. He was an avid fisherman and loved traveling in his 18-wheeler as a driver with Barr-Nunn Trucking Company. He loved his grandchildren very much and said if I knew they were so much fun, I would have had them first."

Mr. Tommy E. Woodham, 74, of Ozark died Monday December 24, 2001 at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 27, 2001, Holman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Glen Vanzandt officiating. Interment will follow in Claybank Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 3:00 P. M. Today December 26, 2001 until service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 P M. until 7:00 P M. Today evening.
Woodham was a native of Dale County a Veteran of the United States Army serving for seven years during the Korean Conflict. He then made his home in south Florida from January 1959 until 1980 when he moved back to Ozark. While living in Okeechobee, Florida, Mr. Woodham owned and operated a retail grocery business and after moving back to Ozark he continued by selling fruit on Highway 105. He was a member of the Ozark Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Tarter Woodham, Ozark, one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Rick Albert, Okeechobee, Florida, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Wesley J. Woodham, Wayne and Tarrica Woodham, and Doug Woodham, all of Ozark two sisters, Mavis Wright Midland City, and Doris Akers, Anniston Alabama, one brother, Luther Woodham, Panama City Florida. Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Mr. Claudie "Mac Dady, Bro. Mac, Jab" McNealey 88, of Ozark, died Sunday, December 23, 2001 at Oakview Nursing Home after a long illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 28, 2001 at the Union Hill E.W.B. Church in Headland, with the Rev Andrew Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory, U.S. Hwy 431 in Dothan, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday night, Dec. 27, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and again at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Mr. McNealey was born April 16, 1913 in Henry County, where he lived most of his life until relocating to Ozark. He was a member of Union Hill E.W.B. Church since 1924, where he was a faithful member deacon, and Sunday School teacher. Also a master mason until his health failed. After moving to Ozark in 1961, he started McNealey's Barber Shop and was employed with the City of Ozark and for Dale County Library. After his retirement, he enjoyed his time with his wife of 67 years, Perone, his family, the barber shop, and his church. He loved spending time talking with people and most of all spending time with the Lord and His word.
Mr. McNealey was preceded in death by his wife, Pennie Mae McNealey; two brothers, Montgomery McNealey Lee McNealey and two sisters, Marie McNealey Glanton and Rosie Lee McNealey Murphy.
Survivors include: one daughter Anna J. Douglas, Ozark; special son-in-law, Jessie Douglas, Jr., Ozark; special God-son and nephew Willie F. (Alice) McNealey, Dothan; six grandchildren, Jewnita (Larry) Clark, Veranda (Melvin) Stewart, Jessie Douglas III, Daron Douglas, Andrea (Michael) Hairson, all of Ozark, and Ronald (Amy) Douglas of Severn, Md.; 15 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two brothers,

Mrs. Sharon Windham, 51, of Eufaula St., died Saturday morning, Dec. 22, 2001 in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Windham was predeceased by her mother, Mary Juanita McCord.
Mrs. Windham was born June 1, 1950 in Hopkinsville, Ky. She was retired from Dale Medical Center in 1993; where she was employed as a PCA Nurse. She was involved with her husband in his business, Windham small engine repairs in Ozark. She was also a member of Post Oak Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Windham, Ozark; three daughters and one son-in-law, Shannon Rae Windham Easterling, Ozark, Cindy Kay Windham Flowers (Stephen Curtis), Ozark, Brenda Marie Windham, Skipperville, Ala.; her father, William Eugene McCord, Hopkinsville, Ky.; one sister and brother-in-law, Norma Kay and Robert Malone, Cadiz, Ky.; four brothers and sisters-in-laws Wendell Eugene and Wanda McCord, Danny Ray and Shirley McCord, William Eugene and Karen McCord II, William Eugene and Lisa McCord, all of Hopkinsville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Kimberli Nicole Horn, Harley Anna Marie Easterling, Brandon Ray Flowers; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Eleanor Louise Marshall, 63, of Ozark, died Friday Dec. 21, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan, with Rev Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Baptist Church Cemetery in Ozark, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Marshall will be placed in the church an hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Marshall retired from the Social Security Administration, Dothan in 1995, she was also a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Marshall and two brothers, Charles Rainey and Robert Rainey.
Survivors include two daughters, Terry McDonough, Lakeland, Stacy Sellers, of Leesburg, Ga.; one son, jack Marshall Jr., of Queens, NY; two sisters, Nell Addison, of Bronwood, Ga., Christine Monroe, Mobile, Ala., two brothers, Douglas Rainey, of Lakeland, Fla., and Albert Rainey, of Dothan, Ala.; and six grandchildren, Felisha, Rainey Adam, Andrew Marshall, Daniel.
Mr. James Braswell Smith, 72 of Route 1, Ariton (Rocky Head Community) died Thursday December 20, 2001 in the Tuskegee V. A. Hospital following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2001, in Rocky Head Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Underwood, Bruce Cooper and Ron Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Smith was a native of the Rocky Head community where he was a member of the Rocky Head Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and serving as a deacon for seven years. Mr. Smith was a member of the Gideons and was a veteran, serving 27 years with the Alabama National Guard, and retired after 30 years with contractors at Ft. Rucker. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Austin, in January 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Smith, Rocky Head; one daughter, Brenda Lewis, Eufaula; two sons, Ricky Austin, Ozark, and Brent Austin, Ariton; three sisters, Elizabeth Garrett, Monticello, Erma Jean Smith and Edna Weber both of Tarantum, Ala.; one brother, Billy Smith, Goshen, Ala.; and six grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Dortris Wilkinson Turner, 81, died Tuesday evening, December 18, 2001, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Turner was a native of Barbour County, having lived in the Peniel Community of Dale County for 59 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Blue Springs School Reunion Committee, and served as it's Treasurer. She enjoyed painting, needlework, quilting; and reading.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Turner, Sr.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Lorraine Sanders and her husband, Dr. John Sanders, Tallahassee, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law Calvin Turner Jr. and his wife, Judy Turner, Opelika, Ala.; grandchildren, Lynn Godfrey Opelika, Ala., Brian Turner, Columbus, Ga., Rob Sanders, Villa Rica, Ga., David Turner Lanett, Ala., Denise Fulghum, Lanett, Ala., and Lori Skidmore, Albertville, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Smith, Eufaula, and Mrs. Linda Fitzgerald, Hephzibah, Ga.; and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Connie Daughtry Stanley, 53 of Ozark, died Tuesday December 18, 2001, at her home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Stanley was a native of Montgomery where she graduated from Sydney Lanier High School. She was a graduate of Troy State University and taught school in the Ozark City School System at East Gate and D. A. Smith Middle Schools for 25 years. Mrs. Stanley was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, an avid dancer and horseback rider. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kelley Patsburg, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Daughtry, Shellhorn, Ala.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Haiden and Glenn Garner, Troy, and Whitney Stanley, Ozark; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Daughtry, Montgomery; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carolyn Daughtry, Montgomery, and Cynthia and Michael Kosar, Algonquin, Ill.; one niece, Kelley Lanier and her husband, Samuel, Eclectic Ala.; two nephews, Ryan Brooks Montgomery, and Colin Brooks Algonquin, Ill.; and one great nephew, Caleb Lanier, Eclectic, Ala.
Mr. James A. Liles, 56, of Route 2, Newton, died at his home Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2001, following a long illness. Miss Linda Williams, 59; of Ozark, died Wednesday December 12, 2001, in a Montgomery hospital following an extended illness.

Miss Williams was a native of Blakely, Georgia having lived in Ozark since 1946. She was employed with Southern Timber Company in Ozark for the past 25 years, and was a member of the Ozark Pilot Club until it disbanded. Miss Williams was preceded in death by, her father, Kenneth Baker Williams, in 1982.

Mr. Woodrow Napier, 87 of the Ewell Community, died Wednesday, December 12, 2001.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 at Ozark First Assembly of God with the Rev. Luther Tadlock and the Rev. Phil Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the Ewell Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Napier was a member of Ozark First Assembly of God. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Anita W. Jordan.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ethel Napier, Ewell Community; one son, Travis Napier, Ewell Community; one sister, Ruth Bagwell, Luverne, Ala.; two brothers, Sam Napier and wife Mary, Ozark, Glenn Napier, Jr. and wife Merle, Opelika, Ala.; one son-in-law, Rufus Johnson, Ewell Community; two grandchildren, Norma Johnson Cancel and husband, Walt, Madison, Ala., Denise Johnson Maloy and husband, Curt, Ewell Community; two great grandchildren, Scott Cancel and Tyler Cancel, both of Madison, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; including a special nieces Pat Hoover.
Johnny Udell Gissendanner, 68 of Ozark, went to be with our Father on Saturday Dec. 8, 2001.

The funeral for Mr. Johnny Odell Gissendanner, 68, Ozark, will be I p.m. today at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. S.C. Jackson and the Rev. Walter Pouge (Host Pastor) officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship A.M.E. Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Gissendanner.

Mrs. Rachel B. Howard, a long standing resident of Ozark died Friday December 7, 2001.
She will have visitation at the Trawick Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday; Dec. 12, 2001 from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Service will be Thursday, December 13, 2001 at the Greater Sardis Baptist Church of Ozark at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Westside Cemetery.

Mr. Warren Roosevelt McLeod heard the voice of Jesus calling Wednesday December 5, 2001 and departed his earthly vessel.

Warren McLeod was born April 19, 1924 to parents Alex and Allen McLeod who preceded him in death. He accepted Christ and united with Allen Chapel United African Methodist Episcopal Church in Skipperville, Ala. at an early age where he remained a faithful member. He served in the U.S. Navy and aided in the defense of his country during W.W. II. For several years prior to his retirement he was employed with Ozark Building Supply, Inc.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Nellie L. McLeod of Ozark; three sons and daughters-in-law, Truman and Mavis McLeod, Childersburg, Ala., S.M. and Mechelle McLeod, Ozark, Norman and Vivian McLeod, Stone Mtn., Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mattie McLeod and Louis Frizzell, Montgomery, Marthie McLeod and James Wilson, Dothan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex Mack and Louise McLeod, Ozark, Winston Carl and Cherry McLeod, Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers and one sister who preceded him in death, Bennie C. McLeod and wife, Alouise, Willie Herbert McLeod and wife Eva, Naomi Taylor and husband Robert; two sisters-in-law, Louise Peterman, Headland, Gertrude Ward, Dothan; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Wallace Rubin Hutto, 89, of Ozark died Tuesday December 4, 2001 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston with the Rev. Sarah Tomlin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2001 from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Hutto is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Hutto. Survivors include his wife, Selma Jewell Hutto, Ozark; one daughter, Shirley Montgomery and her husband Royce of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; two sons, Rickey Hutto and Danny Cook, both of Ozark; one brother, Nathan Hutto, Ozark; two grandchildren, Amanda & Joshua Montgomery of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; one great granddaughter, Abigail Denise.
