Mr. Richard Barnum, 67, of Dothan died Wednesday July 24, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Kings Table Worship Center with the Rev. Michael Senn and the Rev. Doug McCormack officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Barnum was a native of Geneva, Ohio, but lived in the Dothan area for the past six years. He was a member of the Eagle's Club and retired from Lake City Plating Co. after 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was also the former chief of Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department in Sheffield, Ohio, and an active member of Kings Table Worship Center.
Mr. Barnum was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marion Rood Barnum; brother, Roy Barnum; grandson, Christopher Lambert; and granddaughter, Noel Barnum; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Barnum of Dothan; children, Darrell and Ruthie Barnum of Ashtabula, Ohio, Chris and Sandy Lambert of Ashtabula and Lisa and Roy Lamb of Dothan; two sisters and brothers-in-law Lillian and Lester Kirkinburg of Ashtabula, and Emma and Lynn Butte of Geneva, Ohio; a brother Leo Barnum of Mentor Ohio; an aunt, Ester Rood of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Jessica Barnum, Dana Burlingame, Brittany Lambert, Lori Lambert, Kyle Lambert, Kaylee Wiley, Justin West; and special friends, Linda and Mike Garner.

John Randy Bodiford, 45, of 4503 County Road 73, Newville, died early Monday morning, July 22, 2002, in a Dothan hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday July 24, 2002, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor David Temples officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. today at the family residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Bodiford was born in Aiken, S.C., but was reared in Ozark and Pansey. He moved to Newville in 1992. Mr. Bodiford was a manufacturing engineer at Globe Motors in Dothan, where he was employed for the past twenty-three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thurman Bodiford and Margie Rathel Bodiford.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Debbie Crowley Bodiford, Newville; and his grandmother, Odie Rathel, Pansey Al.

Mrs. Lydia Rayford, 92, of Ozark, died Monday morning, July 22, 2002 at Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday July 24, 2002 at the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund, c/o: Berma Willoughby PO. Box 664, Ariton, 36311 . The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. today, July 23, 2002 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rayford was born Oct. 29, 1909, in Mobile to the late Thomas Jefferson Thomas and Georgia Anna Browning Thomas.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Ozark, and was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Henry M. Rayford; three sisters: Grace Strachan; Carrie Lee Dismukes; and Ida Mae Thomas; three brothers: William B. Thomas; Thomas (Pete) Thomas; and Buck Thomas; one grandson, Howard J. Rayford; and a great-grandson: Brandon J. Rayford.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Francis J. and Faith Rayford; Howard and Jocelyn Rayford, all of Ariton; and Donald and Sue Rayford, Enterprise; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Millie Grantham Penton, 71, a resident of the Echo community in Dale County died early Monday morning, July 22, 2002, in a Dothan hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in the New Hope Baptist Church, in the Bertha community, with Rev. Dan Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope "Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Bill Grantham, 826 County Road 7, Skipperville, 36374.
Mrs. Penton was born and reared in the Bertha community of Dale County the daughter of the late John Pearcy Grantham and Mattie Snell Grantham. She lived all of her adult life in the Echo community. Mrs. Penton was formerly employed by Judy Bond Blouse Company and also Wal-Mart both of Ozark. She was a member of the Echo United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Penton was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Grantham Reid, four brothers, Dan H. Grantham, John P. Grantham, Mike S. Grantham and Woodrow Grantham.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sheila Penton Wall and her husband, James P. Wall, Dothan; a son, Edward Penton, Echo; two grandchildren, Amy Blankenship Marler and her husband, Ray Marler, Headland; Carrie Yoell and her husband, Allan Yoell, Bertha community; a great-grandson, Logan Marler; two step-great-grandchildren, Chase Yoell and Chloe Yoell; two sisters, Jewell Grantham Barefield, Bertha community; Zenobia Grantham Oakes, Iuka, Ms. two brothers, including a twin brother, Billy R. Grantham and his wife, Eunice Grantham, Bertha community; Joe Grantham, Echo; two sisters-in-law, Ouida Grantham, Bertha community and Corene Grantham, Headland; several nieces and nephews.

Gene Edmond Snellgrove, 73, of Catoosa, Okla., formerly of Ariton, Ala., passed away Monday, July 22, 2002, in Tulsa, Okla.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Floral Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Green e officiating. Internment and services will be under the direction of Amis-Kennard Funeral Services of Catoosa.
Gene was born of April 20, 1929, in Ariton to Pate C. Snellgrove and Eloise Woodham Snellgrove. He attended schools in Ariton and married the former Mary Vaughn in Ozark on Dec. 21, 1948. He was retired as a warehouse foreman with Heatwave Supply Co., Inc. Gene was also a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Catoosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and a daughter, Pamela Long.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Robert Snellgrove and his wife Arlene of Bartlesville, Okla., Rebecca Kurin and her husband Andrew of Tulsa, Okla., and DeeAnn Snellgrove of Catoosa; a sister Sybil Birt of West Palin Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Daniel, Ryan, Dee, Heather, Joseph Caleb, Kerry, Paula, Amanda, Katy, Nikki, Christopher and Robbie; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Le Mae Uick Gissendanner, 92, of 606 County Road 30, Ozark, passed Sunday morning, July 21, 2002, in Oakview Manor Health Care after a brief illness.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Friendship A.M.E. Church in Ozark with the Rev. M: Coleman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Ozark Memorial Chapel directing.

Lois Money Turner, 87, of Edwin, died early Sunday morning, July 21, 2002, in a Dothan hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary chapel with Rev. Dan Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville. At other times, the family will be at the family residence in Edwin.
Mrs. Turner was a native of the Capps community of Henry County, daughter of the late Jessie Money and Dollie Lisenby Money. She lived in Headland and Newville before moving to the Edwin area 70 years ago.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Turner, a daughter, Dolly Frances Halley. a grandson, Frederick Gachet, and a granddaughter, Juanita Turner.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Maudie Starling, Edwin, Mary Ann Gachet and her husband, Chalmers Gachet, Skipperville, Marie Strevey and her husband, Rich Davis, Gulf Breeze, Fla., Dot Marcum and her husband, James Marcum, Columbus, Ohio; five sons, W.R. (Buck) Turner and his wife, Helen Smith Turner, Ozark, David Turner and his wife, Cornelia Turner, Skipperville, Loyd Turner, Jr. and his wife, Shirley Turner, Skipperville, Frankie Turner, Edwin, Lewis Turner, Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Rose White, Headland, Floyd Parker, Columbus, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Leroy Turner and his wife, Emmer Turner, Edwin, Ala.; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Victor Turner, David Turner II., Steven White, Lynn Currie, Michael E. Carter and James Mowrey.

Mrs. Maude Elizabeth Dolph, 95, of Ozark, died Sunday July 21, 2002, in Oakview Manor nursing facility following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 4 p.m. today, July 23, 2002, until service time on Wednesday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 until 8 p.m. today.
Mrs. Dolph was born in 1907 in a small town in Maxwell, Iowa. She was married at the age of 18 to Lloyd Dolph.
She gave birth to nine children and raised eight. Times were hard back in those days, but she somehow managed to find ways to get by. When the children were all grown, she cooked in a restaurant. She loved it, especially baking pies. She lived in Iowa, until twelve years ago. As she could no longer live alone, her daughter Colene and her husband, Bob Armstrong, moved her down to Ozark. Two years ago she moved into Oakview Manor because of her health. She adjusted pretty well there. Her daughter went every day and spent several hours with her. She reigned as Queen of Oakview Manor during the year of 2000. She made lots of friends and attended activities. She was a very giving and kind person. Material things were not that important to her, only the necessary things. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. She had a way about her that made people take to her and love her.
She will be remembered and missed by the people who know and loved her. She will be especially missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Colene and Bob Armstrong, and her granddaughter, Shelly Walter.

Mr. Daniel H. (Hub) Spurlock, 78, a resident of Ozark Nursing Facility, died, Saturday, July 20, 2002 in Dale Medical Center following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 2002, from Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Michael Senn officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 2002, until time to depart for the service on Wednesday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 until 8 p.m. today.
Mr. Spurlock was a native and life-long resident of Dale County where he was employed for many years with Eldon McDaniel Logging and Glen DeLoney Logging until his retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Maythalene Wainwright, Ozark, and Mary Jean Yarborough, Newton, seven grandchildren, Anthony R. (Tony) Cuevas, Debbie Mathews, Dennis Wainwright, Mendy Ivy, Rebecca Wilkins, Harold Kevin Childs, and Jennifer Helen Childs. Fourteen great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Laura Bell Creel, 87, of Skipperville, Ala., died Wednesday afternoon July 24, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Concord Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Barbour County, Ala., with Sister Christine Gassett officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Creel was a native of Houston County, but lived in the Skipperville area for the past 15 years. She was a member of Holy Faith Mission Church in Ozark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy L. Creel; and a son, Johnny L. Creel.
Survivors include two daughters, Mattie B. Holland of Skipperville, and Berlene Mosley of Brooksville, Fla.; one sister, Florine Merchant of Atlanta; one brother, Alto Sanders of Cottonwood; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Van Stabler Riley, 88 of Ozark died Tuesday July 16, 2002, at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Allerheiligen officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at he funeral home. Following he funeral services, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Vandalyn Folmar, 97 Kings Court, Ozark, Ala., 6360.
Mr. Riley was born Oct. 23, 913, in Greenville, Ala., and worked for Riley Construction Company for many years before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. In addition to serving in World War II, he served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1968. Following his retirement, he worked with Folmar Tire & Auto for many years and most recently Jim Whaley Tires. He was a member of the Masons for 45 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Greenville.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Virginia Riley of Ozark; brother, Fred N. Riley of Greenville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Marion H. Riley of Abilene, Texas; four children, Vandalyn Riley Folmar, Bill and Roxie Riley, Alison and Wesley Brown, and Beth Bryant Stokes and Steve Stokes all of Ozark; seven grandchildren, Ashley Folmar Higham of Dothan, Jennifer Folmar Sanders of the Roeton community, Sam D. Folmar III (Trey) of Clayton, Ala., Kim Brown of Enterprise.

Susie Rogers Addington, 58, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Ozark died July 14, 2002, at a Jacksvnville hospital after an extended illness.
The funeral will be today, July 17, 2002, at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. Addington was a graduate of Carroll High School and received her nursing training at St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Montgomery. She joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a first lieutenant. Her nursing career moved her throughout the world, including Chicago, Ill., Ohio, Opp and Ozark. She found her home in nursing at a Methodist hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, George Addington and a daughter, Amy Petro, both of Orange Park, Fla.; two brothers, William Donell Rogers and Wayne Rogers, both of Ozark; one sister, Mary Bell of Orange Park, Fla; one grandson, Robbie Petro of Orange Park, Fla; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jessie James Howard, 96, Newton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2002.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The Rev. William Lisenby will officiate. Burial will be in Newton City Cemetery with Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 424 Hartford Street in Newton. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Wiregrass Hospice, PO. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.
Mr. Howard was born Feb. 12, 1906. He was married to the late Ola Elinore Howard for 74 years until her death on March 11, 2002. Mr. Howard retired from Newton Elementary School after 21 years of service. Mr. Howard was loved and will be missed by many.
Survivors include two daughters, Lilly (T'my) Messick and Dell Griffin, both of Newton; eight grandchildren, Ted (Cindy) Messick, Wanda Glover, both of Newton, Eldora (Charles) Wilkerson, Ewell, Lenora Watson, Newton, Debbie (Joe) Watson, Newton, Jerry (Lynda) Fulford, Pinckard, Janice (Billy Wayne) Glover Wicksburg, Tommy (Mark) Eaton, Savannah, Ga.; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anne Stephenson Childers, 56, of Skipperville died Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2002, at the Dale Medical Center after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday July 15, 2002, from the Magnolia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johri Christy officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors on Monday, July 15, 2002, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mrs. Childers was a native of Dothan having lived in Skipperville since 1981.. She was a floral designer having worked with a number of florists in the area. She attended Calvary Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Alicia Childers and her father Allen Stephenson.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Childers, Skipperville; a daughter, Stephanie Turner and her husband Robbie, Troy; a son, John Tyson and his wife Amber, Taylor; her mother, Inez Stephenson Hatcher and her husband Col. H.B. Hatcher, Dothan; three grandchildren, Tyler Allen Turner Skipperville, Gabrille Tyson and John Langley Tyson Jr., Taylor.

Amminabah (Bonnie) Thomas, 52 of Ozark died Friday, July 12, 2002 in a boating accident on Lake Eufaula.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Skipperville, Ala., with the Rev. Jerry Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Trawick Funeral Home officiating.

Mrs. Paula Renae Dean Spradley, 36, of Midland City, entered into Heavens Gates on Wednesday, July 10, 2002, to rest forever in peace with her Heavenly Father.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Kevin Presley officiating. Entombment followed in Sunset Memorial Park with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2346 West Main Street, Dothan, Ala. 36303 or to Covenant Hospice, 207 West Adams Street, Dothan, Ala. 36303.
Mrs. Spradley was born July 5, 1966 in Ozark and lived most of her life in the Midland City area. She and her husband Troy were married on December 6, 1986 in Earlytown. They lived in Oklahoma and Houston, Texas before moving back to the Midland City area in 1993. She was a member of the Hartford Highway Church of Christ and was a very devoted wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mrs. Bonnie Dowling of Slocomb, Mr. Noel Dowling of Daleville, Mr. James K. Dean and Mrs. Hattie M. Dean of Newton, and two uncles, Harold Dean of Dothan and Willie Frank Dowling of Slocomb, two aunts, Mrs. Annie Lois Bragg of Marianna, Florida and Mrs. Lovie Dunn of Newton.
Survivors include her husband, Troy Spradley; one son, Benjamin Dean Spradley, age 9; one daughter, Brooke Diane Spradley, age 3, all of Midland City; her parents, Lathan and Louise Dean of Midland City; one brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Cristi Dean of Webb; her father-in-law, Theron Spradley; her mother-in-law, Betty Spradley; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Brian and Tresa Spradley and Jason Spradley, all of Houston, Texas; uncles and aunts, Herman and Marie Dowling, Slocomb, James Loyd Dowling, Slocomb, Clyde and Virginia Thompson, Geneva, James and Voncile Wilson, Wicksburg, Freda Mae Dowling, Midland City, Charles and Virginia Dowling, New Brockton; two nieces, Hanna Dean and Rejeanna Spradley; three nephews, Dylan Dean, Ryan Spradley and' Riley Spradley; several cousins also survive.

Janet M. Moore, 52, of Pelham Ala. died Wednesday July 10, 2002, in Pelham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Graymont in Birmingham. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ozark with Bushelon's Funeral Home of Birmingham directing and Ozark Memorial Chapel announcing.
Survivors include daughters, Monica and Marquita Moore; mother, Beatrick Hardwick; father Britt Matthews; sisters, Jacqueline Moble Linda (James) Caldwell, brothers, Samuel (Renee) Matthews, Vincent Matthews; eight nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends and neighbors.

Curtis Carter (Master Sgt. Ret. U.S. Army), 58, of Ozark died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full military honors and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Carter will be placed in the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Mr. Carter was born Feb. 11, 1944, to Ida Williams Carter and the late Lemor (Lem) Carter in Linwood (Pike County), Ala. Curtis received his high school diploma from Pike County Training School in Brundidge. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army While serving in the Army Curtis received numerous awards, accommodations and medals. A Vietnam War veteran, Curtis honorably served his country for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant.
Following his military retirement, Curtis earned his bachelor of science degree in computer science and his master of science degree in foundations of education from Troy State University in Troy. Curtis is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Management Staff College. As a federal civil servant. at his demise, Curtis culminated his multifaceted professional career as the director of U.S. Army Air Traffic Control Activity at Fort Rucker.
Curtis knew he needed a Savior; therefore he confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Linwood, Ala. He later united with the First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark, under the pastorate of Dr. S.C. Jackson. During his earthly journey Curtis touched many lives by lovingly witnessing to his family and others about the goodness of the Lord. He actively and faithfully displayed his love of the Lord by serving in the following capacities: ordained deacon, secretary of the deacon board, teacher and treasurer of Sunday School member and president of the Male Chorus, instructor with the Baptist Training Union (BTU), participant with the Wednesday night Bible Study, prayer meeting and Sunday School Teachers meeting, charter member of the First Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship Committee, and member of the Gideons.
Curtis leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 35 and a half years, Jewell Carter of Ozark; two sons, Eric Carter of Huntsville and Steven Carter of Dothan; his mother, Ida Carter of Troy; four sisters and three brothers-in-laws, Lee and Eugene Whitaker and Ida and Jimmie Seright all of Niagra Falls, N.Y., Carolyn Smith of Montgomery and Patricia and James Sparks of Detroit; seven brothers and four sisters-in-law, James Carter of Rahway, N.J., Tracy Carter and Gene and Eva Carter all of Niagra Falls, N.Y., Emmett and Annie Mae Carter of Detroit, Willie C. and Minnie Carter, Vincent Carter, and Derrick and Ruby Carter all of Troy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends.

Mrs. Allene H. Marshall Brown, 89, a resident of Ozark Nursing Facility died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hill, the Rev. W. L. Sheffield and the Rev. Charles Kerby officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 p.m. today until one hour prior to service time on Friday when it will be in the church. Mrs. Brown was born March 25, 1913, in Henry County to Coley and Alice Hancock, but lived most of her life in Dale County. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Flowers Hospital, Southeast Alabama Medical Center and Dale Medical Center.
Mrs. Brown is the widow of the Rev. Andrew Marshall, who served as Dale County Circuit Clerk from 1971 until his death in March 1980.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Willie Mart Beasley Andrew Marshall and William Brown; one sister, Alma McGowan; five brothers, John Hancock, Marvin Hancock, Raymond Hancock, Copeland Hancock, and Horace Hancock.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette McCarthy of Daleville; one granddaughter, Lori Sherdel and her husband, Ron, of Fredrick; Md.; two grandsons, Ashley Bolton and his wife, Tina, of Huntsville; and Charles McCarthy and his wife, Amy of Madison, Ala.; four great-grandchildren; three step-children, Ronnie Brown,
Edward Brown and Mary Edna Cook, all of Dothan; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nell Hunt Johnson, 89, of Ozark died early Tuesday evening, July 9, 2002, in the Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today from the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hix officiating, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation was at the funeral home parlors from 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, and the family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family request the omission of flowers and suggest memorials be sent to the Baptist Children's Homes, P O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Ala., 35236-1767; American Lung Association, 188 North Foster Street, Suite 103, Dothan, Ala., 36303; or the Ozark Baptist Church, 314 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Morgan and Chellie Ward Hunt of Echo and lived in Echo and Ozark her entire life. She was employed with the Fair Store in Ozark for a number of years before her retirement. She was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mack Carver Johnson, in 1995; two sisters, Dora Lea Bell of Birmingham, and Mary Arin Deal of Echo.
She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Nell Elaine and Simon Hobbs Jr:, of Columbus, Ga.; and Schella, Mack and Lloyd Wilson Slay of Ozark; five grandchildren, Delwin Johnson Hobbs of Atlanta, Dennette Hobbs King of Columbus, Ga., Frank Bishop Reeves of Birmingham, Ala., Henry Carver Reeves of Orlando, and Schella Celeste Reeves of Ozark; one niece, Janette Darnell of Birmingham; one nephew, Ward Deal of Birmingham; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ora Edmonia Gill, 88, of Ozark died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in the Ozark Nursing Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Sweet and the Rev. Dean Allerheiligen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today: Mrs. Gill's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Thursday.
Mrs. Gill was born May 18, 1914, in Dale County, .Ala., the daughter of the late Bascom and Jessie Matthews Strickland. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

LCPL Edward Russell, 22, of Cherry Point, N.C., died Monday, July 8, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Church of God by Faith in Ozark with Elder J.C. Smith, and pastor and minister W.F. Britt Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship AME Church Cemetery in Ozark. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Ozark Memorial Chapel of Ozark will be directing.
