Mr. Oscar Carroll, 77, of Ozark died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Dale Medical Center after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, from Woodlawn Memory Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Billy Gaither and Reverend Michael Lawler officiating. Interment will follow. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 5:30 p.m. today until time to depart for the service. The family will receive friends from until 7 p.m. this evening.
Mr. Carroll served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was employed with Dunn Wholesale in Ozark after 29 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Ozark First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mary Dillard Carroll; two sisters, Katherine Petty and Ruth Cumbie; one brother, William Dean Carroll and first wife, Voncile Merritt Carroll.
Survivors include his wife Sibyl Lisenby Carroll; one son, Ronnie Lisenby and his wife Tonja, Dothan; two grandchildren, Gillian and Woods Lisenby, Dothan; one brother, Eugene Carroll and his wife Ruth, Ozark.

Mrs. Jewel Outlaw Andrews, 70, of Newton died at her home Saturday, June 08, 2002, following her extended battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 200 P. M. Monday June 10, 2002, from the Newton United Methodist church with the Reverend David Willis officiating, internment will follow in the Newton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 4:00 P.M. today with the family receiving friends until 6:00 p.m. this evening.
Mrs. Andrews was a native of Skipperville having lived in Newton her entire adult life. She was a cosmetologist also working with Akwell Industries and S. L. Bifold of Dothan. She was a member of the Newton United Methodist church and Sunday school.
Two Sisters survive her: Gail Boger, Enterprise and Kay Paseoe, Dothan; Two Brothers: Billy Outlaw, Dothan ' and Joe Outlaw, Ozark.

Mrs. Lillian Helton Bouterse, 80, of Ozark, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday June 10, 2002, from the Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Phil Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the Church from 10 a.m. Monday until service time with the family receiving friends during this hour.
Mrs. Bouterse was a native of Henry County, having lived in many different places while her husband served in the United States Air Force, retiring to Dale County 25 years ago. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Bouterse, three sisters, Iris Lane, Willie Gagrion, and Mary Sims, two brothers, Bob Helton, and Frank Helton.
Survivors include three daughters, Dean Luther Elba, Judy Beardslee, Orlando, Florida, and Donna Elizalde, Dothan, one son, Steve Bouterse, Echo, one brother, Leon Helton, Ozark, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lena Davis Willoughby 89, of the Rocky Head Community of Ariton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at her home following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday June 7, 2002, from the Rocky Head Baptist Church with the Reverend Ron Jackson officiating. Internment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 6:00 P M. Thursday June 6, 2002, with the family receiving friends until 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening.
Mrs. Willoughby was a native of Pike County having lived in the Rocky Head Community of Dale County her adult lifetime. She was a member of the Rocky Head Baptist Church where she taught the children's and Pre-School Sunday School class for 55 years, being honored by the Church in 2000.
Her Husband James Downing Willoughby preceded her in death in 1988. Her Son and his Wife survive her: Max and Rebecca Willoughby, Ariton
Grandchildren: Donna & Philip Cadwell, Cochran, GA; Susan and Jimmy Tisdale, Tuscaloosa, Al: Gary and Jennifer Willoughby Madison, Alabama. Three Sisters: Florence Tew, Brundidge; Emma Nell Graves, Montgomery; and Irone Jacobs, Hartselle, Alabama. Four Brothers: Robert and Hubert Davis Phenix City, AL: Dr. Shelby R. Davis, Ozark and Jerry Davis, Gulf Shores, AL. Five Great Grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Margie Bludsworth Hall, 56, died Wednesday evening, June 5, 2002, at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Melanie Miller, 4504 County Road 11, Ariton.
Mrs. Hall was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County and was a member of the Baptist Faith. She is pre- ceded in death by two sisters: Faye Folds of Ozark and Johneen King of Pinckard.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Rickey Miller, Ariton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey T. and Tammy Watson, Ariton, and Michael E. Watson, Ariton; parents, John and Earlene Bludsworth, Clayhatchee; one sister, Annise Maund, Clay- hatchee; one brother, Johnny Bludsworth, Clayhatchee; seven grandchildren, Brittney Miller, Tyler Love, Jenna Watson, Ashley Etheredge, Cori Watson, Maegan Watson, and Gage Miller.

Dr. Frank A. "Sonny" Arnold, Jr., 72, of Ozark, died Tuesday evening, June 4, 2002, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, June 8, 2002, from Lee Cemetery near Ozark, with the Reverend Gillis Crenshaw and the Reverend Joe W. Lisenby officiating. Interment will follow. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Dr. Arnold was a native of Montgomery, having lived in various places while serving in Church's of the Alabama/West Florida United Methodist Conference. He received his B. A. from Huntington College, his Bachelor of Divinity from Duke University, and his Doctorate of Theology degree from Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Arnold served in Montgomery at the Fairview United Methodist Church and the Dexter Avenue United Methodist Church, in Monroeville at the Monroeville First United Methodist Church, in Opelika at the St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Opelika First United Methodist Church, in Luverne at the Luverne First United Methodist Church, in Wilmer at the Wilmer First United Methodist Church, in Panama City, Florida, at the Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, and in Mobile at the Ashland Place United Methodist Church. Dr. Arnold retired in 1990, following 35 years of service in the Ministry. He moved back to his old home place at Klondyke Hill, where he enjoyed the presence of the Springhill Methodist Church on that property. Dr. Arnold was predeceased by his Father, Frank Aubrey Arnold, Sr., and his brother, Curtis Gene Arnold.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Reynolds Arnold; Klondyke Hill, one daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jeff Graham, Sellins Grove, Pennsylvania, two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Sydney and Robin Arnold, Errington, British Columbia, Canada, .and.Forrest and Cathy Arnold, Red Bluff, CA, former wife, Birdie Barnett Montgomery, his Mother, Eldessa Grantham Arnold, Dothan, one step-daughter, Andrea Etheridge, Charlotte, N. C., six grandchildren Erin Graham, Allison Graham, Camilla Arnold, Will Arnold, Alden Arnold, and Abram Arnold, one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Eleanor Arnold, Montevallo.

Ms. Lizzie F. Franklin, 99, of Rahway, N.J., passed away Monday June 3, 2002.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Greater Old' Salem Baptist Church in Ozark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Revs. W. R. Virgil and Dr. S.C. Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.
She was a native of Ozark's Long Street Community.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted seven children: three sons, Deacon Enoch (Mildren) Franklin, Colonia, N.J., Elijah (Mary) Franklin, Roselle, N.J., and Nathaniel N. (Linda) Franklin, Hillside, N.J.; four daughters, Mae (Melvin) Williams, East Orange, N.J., Irene Pitts, Newark, N.J., Lorine (Bobby) Glanton, Rah- way N.J., and Margaret Franklin, Hillside, N.J.; two sisters, Lola Mae G.regory, Akron, Ohio, and Malonie Ross, Washington, D.C.; one sister-in-law, Dove Mae Newman, Ozark; and one brother-in-law, Willie Ross, Washington, D.C.; 26 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mom, you were a jewel to us. Retired U.S. Army Master Sgt. Ira Lee Lewis, 75, of Ozark, died late Monday evening, June 3, 2002, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C., following an extended illness.
'The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with a military chaplain officiating. Burial with full military honors in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lewis was born in Stanton, Ky., having lived in Ozark since 1969. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Dean Lewis, Richmond, Ky., Anthony Kee Lewis, Raleigh, N.C., and Shane Lee Lewis, Huntsville; one brother, Billy Lewis, Georgia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sam Wallace, age 69, of Ozark died early Sunday morning, June 2, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.
Graveside services with full military honors will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Kenneth Hale officiating. Burial will follow with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Wallace was born in Dale County in 1932 to John Clayton and Sarah Frances Wa1- lace. He joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a staff Sergeant in 1972.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen Wallace; brothers, Howard Wallace and Horace Wallace.
Survivors include one brother, Jimmy Wallace, Naples, Fla.; one sister, Bernice Henderson, Ozark; four nephews and six nieces; sister-in-law, Katherine Groomes, Hanover Md.
Mrs. Jewell Gladys Dillard, 87, of Daleville, died early Saturday morning, June 1 2002, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Van Gauthe officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Dillard was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County and was retired from Vivian B. Adams School as a teacher's aide. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Early and Gusta Jimmerson; husband, James Aaron Thomas; son, James Earl Thomas; grandson, Ricky Earl Thomas; granddaughter, Angela Merle Etheredge; three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Keahey, Newton, Martha Jewell Davis, Atlanta, Ga., and Janice Thompson, Daleville; two sisters, Eva Mae Phillips, Ozark, and Mavis Moseley Panama City Fla.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Helen Walker, age 59, of 115 Williams Street, Midland City died Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2002, at the home of a son, Keith L. Walker, in Newton, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A. M. Tuesday June 4, 2002, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with Rev. Ricky Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 P. M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, Keith L. Ms. Walker was born and reared in Dale County but lived in Headland and Kinsey before moving to Midland City twenty seven years ago. She was retired, due to disability, from Dunbarton Corporation of Dothan. In earlier years, Ms. Walker was employed by Wex-Tex Manufacturing Co. in Headland.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Loyd Walker and a brother, Irvin Walker.
Surviving are a daughter, Kim Walker Campbell and her husband, Joey Campbell, Eufaula; two sons, Keith L. Walker and his wife, Janice Walker, Newton.; Wayne Walker and his wife, Cindy Walker, Midland City; her mother, Lena Trammell Walker, Ozark Nursing Facility; a sister, Brenda I'roctor, Midland City; eight grandchildren, Greg Holt, Aisha Walker, Skyler Walker, Jesse Campbell, Joshua Walker, Ashley Walker David Webb and Crystal Webb, a great-granddaughter, Cassandra Webb.

Shellie Michael "Mike" Faulk, age 33, of Ariton, died Friday May 31, 2002, in Panama City Fla.

Mr. Faulk was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County and attended Holmes Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth Wallace and Sue Anna Faulk, Ariton; two sisters, Wanda Sue Knutsori and Amanda Lynn Faulk, both of Ariton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth Wallace Faulk Jr. and wife Michelle, Ozark, and Michael Shane Simmons, Ariton; nieces, Charlotte Hoover, Ariton, McKenzie Faulk, Ozark; nephews, Stephen Smith and Justin Knutson, both of Arimn; fiance, Marsha Fletcher.
Mrs. Christine Rogers Gunter, 74, of Ozark, died Thursday morning, May 30, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Gunter was a native of Ozark where she was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Gladys Boswell Sunday School Class. She was a devoted Mother and Wife with many special friends.
Survivors include her husband, Rex Gunter, Ozark, her beloved daughter, Teresa Gunter Ozark, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Sandra Rogers, China Grove, North Carolina, and Jerry and Edith Rogers, Bethenia, North Carolina, one special sister-in- law, Irene Gunter Ozark, one brother-in-law, Howard Gunter and his wife, Eloise, Montgomery two special nieces, Sharon Hornsby, Dothan, and Bobbie Jean Szelich and her husband, Walt, Fayetteville, Tennessee. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Vilma McLean Crumpler, 81, of Ozark, died Thursday afternoon, May 30, 2002, in the Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Mrs. Crumpler was a native of Coffee County having lived in the Pleasant Grove Community since 1959. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, and taught the Special Education Class at the Church.
Mrs. Crumpler was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Chris Crumpler.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and James Bryant, New Brockton, and Gayle and Malcolm Peters, Ozark, one son, Dr. Charles Crumpler, Lacombe, Louisiana,seven grandchildren, Vicki Meacham, Keith Bryant, Kevin Peters, Chris Peters, Candice Bryant, Katina Peters, and Mia Elmore, four sisters, Mildred Thompson, Ozark, Hilda Parrot Ozark, Myra Cote, Kemp, Texas and Mary Davis, Columbus, Georgia. Six great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Mary Cannon Tomlin, 78, of Ozark, died Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2002, in Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Mrs. Tomlin was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County. She was a homemaker, an avid quilter, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Where she and her husband, Roscoe, served as Church Custodians since 1974.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Tomlin, Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Neldon and Mary Tomlin, Ozark; three grandchildren, Rodney Tomlin and his wife, Amy, Ozark, Jay Tomlin and his wife, Amy Panama City Beach, Florida, and Alex Tomlin, Ozark; three sisters, Bertha Langford, Ozark, Pearlie Mae Trammell, Stirling, Colorado, and Maurine Knight, Ozark, four great grandchildren, Abby Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida, MacKenzie Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida, Dylan Tomlin, Ozark, and Cecily Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida.
Ms. Louise R. Davis, 88, of 743 Simmons Ave. in Ozark, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2002, 1 p.m., at The Greater Sardis Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Mclaughlin and the Rev. S.D. Hudson officiating. Lt. Col. (Retired) Hix was a native of Whitney, Texas having lived in various places while serving in the United States Army for 23 years, retiring in 1963 as a Master Aviator. He then worked with Civil Service at Fort Walters, Texas and Fort Rucker, Alabama until his retirement in 1976. Lt. Col. (Retired) Hix was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, the John Wesley Sunday School Class, an honorary member of the Administrative Board, Claybank Masonic Lodge #908, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Gotcher Hix, Ozark, one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and John Fairman, Kirkland, Washington two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Hix and Kathryn Royer, San Antonio, Texas, and Tony Hix and Vicki Welch, Birmingham; Five grandchildren, Joy Aldrich, John Ellison, Chris Hix, David Hix and Amanda Rayborn.
Mr. Jackie Alan Peak, 46, of Ozark died Sunday morning, May 26, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday May 30, 2002, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Larry Douglas Tharp and Jude Tharp officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery near Blue Springs, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Mrs. Bessie Faust Gillis, 96, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a native of the Arguta Community, died Friday morning, May 24, 2002.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday May 28, 2002, at Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Robert Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, until service time at 10 a.m., with the family-receiving friends during this hour.
Mrs. Gillis was a native of the Arguta Community of Dale County, lived in Dothan where she was employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center as Housekeeping Supervisor until her retirement. She then made her home in Ozark until moving to Tennessee in July 1997 to be near her son.
Mrs. Gillis was a member of Ozark Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Pruitt Gillis Sr., by a son, William Pruitt Gillis Jr., and four brothers, Ted, Raymond, Lem, and Bascomb Faust.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Gerald and Billie Gillis, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Jo Helen Pybus, Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Kristi DeFazio, Traci Koen, Jana Wingfield, Plano, Texas, and Lynne Martin, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and two brothers, Dr. J.P Faust, Ozark, and Randall Faust, Skipperville. Thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
