Mrs. Dorothy Hartfield, 84, of Foley, Ala., formerly of Ozark, died Thursday April 18, 2002, in Foley.
The funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Homan Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Harry Circle, Al Sonanstine, and Johnnie LaCarter officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 tonight until service time on Saturday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6-8 tonight.
Mr. Hartfield was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to Ozark in 1984. She worked with the Christian Book Stores in Ozark and was Wendy's Senior Citizen Hostess prior to moving to Foley in 2001. Mrs. Hartfield was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Robert Hartfield in 1985.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jean Ellen and Denis Flierl, Baily Colo.; one son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Lee and Deborah Hartfield, Elberta; six grandchildren, Matthew Hartfield, Melissa Hartfield, Michael Hartfield, Jamie Flierl Herrera, Heather Flierl, and Christie Flierl;t wo sisters, Laura Routley Milan, Ill., and Polly Hahn, LaGrange, Ill.; two brothers, Dan Orloff, Madison, Wis., and Phill ' Orloff, Golden, Colo.; two great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. JoAnn Isler (Weed) Walters, 62, of Ozark, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, in Panama City, Fla., following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Holman Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John D. Reese officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002, with the family receiving friends during this time.
Mrs. Walters was a native of Ozark, where she worked with Ozark Community Action Program and attended Holy Faith Mission Church and New Covenant Christian Fellowship.
Her sister, Merle Shiner preceded her in death, in 1993.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Walters, Ozark, four sons, Joey Weed and his wife, Tracy, Kenosha, Wis., Andy Weed and his wife, Phyllis, Ozark, Mark Weed and his wife, Dana, Dothan, and Kevin Weed and his wife, Pam, Ozark, three sisters, Hazel Wallace, Ozark, Carolyn Hatfield, Tuscaloosa, and Dot Harrison, Brundidge, one brother, Jack Isler, Panama City, Fla., grandchildren, Jason Weed and Danny Weed, Wis., Ashley Weed and Brandon Weed, Dothan, Alesha Joyner, Midland City, Kristian Weed, Shawn Weed, Andrew Weed, Jennifer McCord and Justin McCord, Ozark, J.J. and Chelsea Gilbert, Panama City; a special granddaughter, Tabatha Yon; a grandson, Trey Yon, Cottonwood; and one great-grandson, Will Kramer, Midland City.
Mr. R.L. Sanders, 90, of Ozark, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Giles and the Rev. James H. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery, Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Sanders' body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services Thursday.
Mr. Sanders was a native of Barbour County having lived in Dale County most of .his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Sanders; infant son; infant daughter, Estelle Sanders; granddaughter; great-granddaughter; two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include four sons, R.L. Sanders, Jr., Waycross, Ga., Roy L. Sanders, Ozark, Foy A. Sanders, Ozark, and Cecil Sanders, Ozark; five daughters, Eunice Womble, Phenix City, Jewel Johnson, Ozark, Edna Jarmello, Fort Collins, Colo., Zadie Cochran, Whiteland, Ind.; and Farril Griffin, Ozark; brother, Ray Sanders, Blountstown, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be O'Neal Sanders, Harold Williams, Roy Faulk, Obie Sanders, Man Hendry, Willie Easterling, and William McCraney.
Judith Gaye F. Walker of 1085 East Highway 134 Pinckard, Dale County, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Extendicare Hospice Services Facility in Dothan.
A private funeral, conducted by Brother Doug Fowler, was held Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Jellico Community Cemetery with Kent-Thornton Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Walker was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Geneva County. She was a paralegal for Lewis & Brackin Law firm and a member of First United Methodist Church in Pinckard.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents Dawson and Neppie Helms Fowler, two sisters, one brother, and her first husband, Kenneth Rountree.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Bernard Walker of Pinckard and Ozark, one sister, Lorraine F. Dancy of Dothan, one sister-in-law, Arleen A. Fowler of St. Louis, and several nieces and nephews.
If anyone cares to do anything in remembrance of Mrs. Walker, she had requested that a tree be planted.
Mrs. Annie Ruth Casey 84, of Barbour County Road 15, died Saturday morning April 13, 2002, in a Dothan Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2002 from Salem Baptist Church, internment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 until ti p.m. Sunday evening. Mrs. Casey will lie in state in the church one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Casey was a native of the Elamville Community of Barbour County. She was employed with Judy Bond until the early 1970's then with the National Black Caucus until her retirement in 7998. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God church and was currently attending the Clayton Assembly of God Church.
Her husband Albert Casey, Son Willis Albert Casey and Grandson George Casey preceded Mrs. Casey in death.
Her daughter-in-law survives her: Elaine Phillips Casey Ariton Grandchildren: Angie and Vick Coker; Bruce and Carol Casey, Amy and Donnie Green, Ariton. One Sister: Nettie Mae Phillips, Elamville. Six great-grandchildren also survive.

USA Maj. (Ret.) Frederick Dawson, 78, of 1100 Nancy Lane, Ozark, died Friday, April 12, 2002, in the Dale Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Maj. Dawson was a native of Kentucky, having lived in Ozark for several years. He was retired from the US Army of which he was a POW in WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Annetta S. Dawson, Ozark, Al, two daughter, Jill Graybill, La.; Jennifer Meredity Georgetown, Ga.; one son, Jack Dawson, Hamilton, Ga.; two step-daughters, Martha English and Margaret Ann Ray both of Ozark; one brother, Carl Dawson, Ken.; several grandchildren including Austin and Andrew English.
Mr. Ricky Charles Newman, 50, of Ozark Avenue, died, April 12, 2002, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday April 15, 2002, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Internment will follow in the Midland City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 3 p.m. Sunday until service time, with the family receiving friends from 3 until 5 p. m., Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Newman was a native of Ozark, living his early years in Inkster, Michigan. He served 10 years in the armed forces.
Survivors include two sons Rick Newman and Johnny Newman of New York, New York. His mother, Mrs. Evelyn Elmore, Ozark Two brothers Kenneth Newman, Westland, Michigan, and Ronald Newman, Lincoln Park, Michigan. One grandchild also survives.
Mrs. Minnie L. Powers, age 83, of Midland City died at her residence Sunday morning, April 7 2002, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Powers was a native of Coffee County having lived in Dale County for several years, and was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Powers, in 1973, and her son, William Powers, in 1984.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley Ann Tarter, wife of the late Wyatt Tarter, Midland City, and Marilyn Holland and husband, James G. Holland, Tallahassee, Fla., and Evelyn Fields and husband, Eddie Fields, Dothan; daughter-in-law, Brenda Powers, Panama City, Fla.; sister, Pearl Tyler, Enterprise; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Blondell German Cook, age 77, of Ozark, died Saturday evening, April 6, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Elaine Mosley officiating. Mrs. Cook was a native of Henry County having lived in Ozark for the past 32 years. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert German, in 1981; daughters, Lottie Shivers and Annie Mae German; parents, Colan and Coralee McKee; brothers, Buiel McKee and C.R. McKee; sisters, Jewell White and Clev Smothers; grandchildren, Gary German and Michael German.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Cook, Ozark; five daughters, Melba Slaughter and Lucy Palmer, both of Dothan; Linda Cook; Pauline Cummings, Ozark; Ilene Cummings, Skipperville; two stepdaughters, Christine Shiver and Tracy Lynn Cook, both of Midland City; four sons, Kenneth German, Greenville; Robert Roy German and Roscoe German, both of Newton; and Ronnie German, Cottonwood; one stepson, Wayne Cook, Newton; one sister, Realy Mae Barefield, Headland; brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Betty Joyce McKee, Dothan; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Jack Norton Reynolds, 68, of Ozark, died Tuesday evening, April 2, 2002, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with the Reverend Dr. Billy Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in Clopton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, until one hour prior to service time on Friday when it will be in the Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Life Center First United Methodist Church, 201 East Broad Street, Ozark, AL 36360 or to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Reynolds was born on October 2, 1933, in Clopton, AL. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Agrriculture and was an active member of the Dale County Auburn Club and the Auburn Alumni Association. He worked for 34 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring as Director, European and Mideast Region, Foreign Service. He also retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Colonel. Mr. Reynolds was an active member of the Ozark First United Methodist Church and was serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board. He served on the State Board of the AL Treasure Forest Association and was a charter member and past president of the Dale County Chapter. He also served on the board of South Central AL Goodwill Industries. An avid golfer and civic leader, Mr. Reynolds was actively involved in community service activities, including the American Cancer Society, the Boys and Girls Club of Ozark, Make-A-Difference Day, and preservation projects in the Clopton community.
Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jackson and Lucile Norton Reynolds, and two brothers Ralph Reynolds and Whit Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Armeto Chandler Reynolds, Ozark; two sons, Dan Reynolds, Boston, Mass. and Jim Reynolds, Huntsville, AL; one sister, Mary Jean Moss, Atlanta; his mother-in-law, Dottie Chandler, Geneva; and a sister-in-law, Mozelle Reynolds, Abbeville.
Pallbearers asked to serve are Dennis Hill, Jim Anderson; Ralph Jack Reynolds, Don Skipper, Gary Stensland, Henry Watson, and Kenneth . McMillan.
Mr. John Earl Bell, 64, of Centre, Alabama, formerly of Skipperville, died Tuesday, April 2, 2 02, following a brief illness.

Mr. Bell was a native of Dale County and had lived in Centre the past six years. He owned eyewear and optical business in Alabama and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonnie Mae Mathison Bell and Braxton Brown Bell, Sr., and two brothers, Tommy Bell and John David Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Bell, Centre, four daughters, Wanda Dismukes Dothan, Jacqueline Kelley and her husband, Allan, Dothan, Denise Bell, Tallahassee, and Sabrina Bell, Centre, one son, Danny Bell and his wife, Donna, Birmingham, three step-daughters, Emily Rochelle and her husband, Andre, Centre, April Stephens, McAllen, Texas, and Elizabeth Foist and her husband, Shawn, Ozark, one sister, Charlotte Davis and her husband, Larry Skipperville three brothers, Frank Bell and his wife; Cheryl, Wewahitchka, Florida, and Braxton Bell and his wife, Mae Ola, Echo, and Charlie Bell, Brundidge, one sister-in-law, Myra Bell, Ashford, and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Norma Johnson Holland, 87 of the Salem Community, near Skipperville, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2002, in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 at Salem Baptist Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Holman Funeral Home, 995 S. Union Ave., Ozark. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.
She was a native and lifelong resident of the Salem Community. She was a homemaker and worked with Van Heusen until her retirement. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey B. Holland and one brother, Judge Hollie Johnson.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ina Merle and Harvey Hagler of Dothan; one son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Melba Holland of Skipperville; one sister and her husband, Sybil and Danny L. Wright of Ozark; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnny D. (J.D.) Cummings Sr., 85 of Ozark, died Dec. 28, 2002 at the Dale Medical Center.

Mrs. Lizzie Agerton, 94 of Logan Road, Ozark formerly of the Pleasant Ridge Community, died early Saturday evening, December 27, 2002, at her daughter's home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home with the Reverend Isom Hill and Reverend Wallace Russell officiating, Internment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Agerton was a native of Dale County having lived in. the Pleasant Ridge Community of Ariton until moving to Dothan in 1994 to live with her daughter then to Ozark in 1996 with her other daughter.
She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She loved playing dominos along with gardening. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband Roscoe Agerton and son Ted Agerton preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law Mary Thompson, Ozark and Maxine and her husband Don Ezell, Dothan; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Delton Agerton, Loganville, Georgia and William (Bill) Reed Agerton and his wife Anne Agerton, Lilburn, Ga.; her daughter-in-law: Marie Agerton, Ariton; special granddaughter Jewell Morse, Ozark; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Jessie Mae Arnold Thompson, 85 of Ariton, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at Ozark Nursing Facility.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Ariton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church for 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thompson; son, Leon Thompson; grandson, . Billy Thompson; and sister, Vernice Frazier.
She is survived by her children, Earl and Sara Thompson of Ariton grandchildren, Rhonda and Sandy Ketcham of Ariton, and Jimmy Thompson of Millbrook; great-grandchildren Casey and Kim Ketcham of Ariton; daughter-in-law, Anne Thompson of Millbrook; sisters, Mary Robinson of Clio, Naomi Register of Eufaula, Thelma Carmichael of Dothan, and Melba Oliver of Ariton; sister-in-law, Gertie Grantham of Ariton; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nettie Frances Hadden, 83 of Dothan, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Glover officiating. Interment will follow at Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home, 995 S. Union Ave.
Mrs. Hadden was a native of Dale County, a homemaker, and helped her late husband with farming.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Ette Hadden; two sons, Randall Hadden and David Hadden; and three sisters, Eula Bowden, Willie Mae Andrews and Eunice Gilley.
She is survived by her nephew, Lawrence Bowden of Dothan, and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Johnny Albert Cummings, 42 of Ozark, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at his residence.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Travelers Rest Cemetery on West Parker Street in Ozark with Brother Titus Cummings officiating. Trawick Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-8374, is in charge of arrangements.
