Mrs. Rossie I. Turner, age 88, formerly of Ozark, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, in Sun City, Ariz. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m.. from Magnolia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gaines Owens and the Rev. Bernard Easterling officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Fuqua Bankston directing. Visitation will.be at the chapel from 6 p.m. Friday until one hour prior to services, when her body will lie in state at the church. Family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, born and raised in Barbour County. She retired from West Point Stevens Pepperell. Following the death of her husband, Floyd Joel Turner, she moved to Sun City, Ariz., in 1996, where she attended the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughter and son-in-law, Glenda Spence, Sun City, Ariz.; Betty and Douglas Gulledge, Ozark; two sisters, Katherine Benton, Ogden, Utah; Juanita Thomas, Montgomery; four brothers, Auburn Scott, Newton; Harold Scott, Edwin, Gerald Scott, Phoenix, Ariz.; Max Scott, Havana, Fla.; two grand- children, Kelly Willis and Chad Gulledge, one great grandson, Gyles Willis several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Judy Cotten Smith, 54, of Ozark, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, with Holman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 3 p.m. today until service time. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Andalusia, having grown up in Ozark, where she attended Carroll High School. She worked at Fort McClellan and at Fort Rucker as an artist illustrator with Civil Service and was a member of The Faith Assembly of God Church of Ozark.
Survivors include her husband, Kennon Smith, Ozark; four sons, Kenneth Dewayne Sullivane, Montgomery, Bradley Allen Smith, Fort Rucker, Samuel Leon Smith, Salem, William Lander Smith, Montgomery; her father, Sam Cotton, Ozark; and two sisters, Linda McCall, Ozark, and Rebecca Conley, Kissimmee, Fla.
Mr. Joe Don Worsham Sr., 64, of Ozark died Oct. 6, 1999, at a Dothan hospital. The funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 9, at First Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Phil Stephens, Clifton Carney, Wayne Wyatt and Rex McKinley officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Worsham was born in Navaroo County, Barry, Texas. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving 20 years. He saw action in Vietnam while serving in the Medical Corps. He was a Master Mason, member of the Echo Lodge, and served a term as Worshipful Master. Since 1990, he and his wife, Margaret, have served as missionaries to the children in Mexico in a ministry founded by them called "Suffer the Little Children: Mexico Outreach."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rebecca Maxine Worsham. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Strickland Worsham of Ozark; two daughters, Mary Doyle of Dothan, and Ambry Worsham of Tuscaloosa; four sons, Peter Worsham of Enterprise, Joe Don Worsham Jr. of Mount Airy, N.C., Robert Wesley Archer Jr. of Decatur, and Corey Todd Hotchkiss of Birmingham; one sister, Madgealee Walters of Corsicana, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Ruth Casey Griggs, 83, of Ozark, died early Friday evening July 14, 2000, in the Oakview Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kenneth Earls and Floyd Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Ewell Assembly Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Griggs was a native of the Elamville Community in Barbour County living her entire adult life in Ozark. She worked 20 years with Cowikee Mills in Ozark until her retirement. Mrs. Griggs was a member of the. Ewell Assembly of God Church.
Her daughter and her husband survive her: Carol and Billy Willis, Ozark; three sons and their wives, Benny F. and Omega Casey; Bobby L. Casey Ozark; Billy LaDon and Mavis Casey, Enterprise; her sister, Mrs. Ella Louise Casey Ozark; her brother Earl Dansby Montgomery, two half sisters, Virginia and the Rev. William Cannon, Ozark; and ; Evelyn and Joe Burke, Dothan; one half brother, D.4V. and Sara Dansby Ariton; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grace Skipper Smith, of Ozark, died Friday July 14, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday from the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 4 to 6 p.m. today with the family receiving friends during those hours.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Ozark, where she had worked with White Knight Manufacturing for 35 years until its closing. She then worked with the Dale County Health Department in home health care until her retirement. She was a member of the Logan Road Baptist Church in Ozark.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Debbie Morrison and Nick Boswell, Clayhatchee; Sherry D. and Eugene Harrison, Midland City; three grandchildren, Keith Mitchell, Junction City Kan.; Kevin Mitchell, Daleville; and Angie Bradley, Daleville; four sisters, Marie Chappell and Carolyn Chappell, Birmingham; Hilda Andrews, Clayhatchee; and Francis Lynn, Dothan; two brothers, Joe Skipper, Troy; and James Curtis Skipper, Ozark; and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Effie Armonia Goodson Tharpe, 91, of the Ewell Community in Ozark, passed away Thursday, July 13, after a long illness.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ozark with Chaplain Talmadge Butler and Pastor David Lewis officiating. Eulogy will be given by Mrs. Derotha Dunlap. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at this time.
Mrs. Tharpe was a life-long resident of Dale County, residing in Ozark. She mothered three children - two sons, deceased, Charles O'Neal and Jennings Earl, and a daughter, Janis Peel, Ozark.
Mrs. Tharpe worked with Cowikee Mills for several years, and also the Ozark School System as a lunchroom worker. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, where in her younger years, she was an active member of the choir and of her Sunday School and Church Training Classes. Mrs. Tharpe was the daughter of the late Claude B. and Ila Caraway Goodson.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Roy O'Neal Tharpe, Ozark; a daughter, Janis Peel, Ozark; grandchildren, Mickey and Tracy Dunlap, Ozark; Ladon and Stephanie Jones, Dothan; Lloyd and Vicki Snellgrove, Ozark; and Ricky and Kim Tharpe, Midland City; eight great-grandchildren, Logan Graham and Mickenzie Dunlap; Reid and Riley Jones; Jeremy and Jordy Miller; and Tyler Tharpe; one brother, H.L. Goodson; three sisters-in-law, Maxeline Goodson, Velma Dickerson and Grace Harding, all of Ozark; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Effie Lee Bodford, 78, of Ozark died Monday afternoon, July 10, 2000, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ozark Baptist Church with the Revs. Greg Aman, Bill Hix, Shawn Hall officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawri Memory Gardens with Holman of Ozark directing. Visitation will take place until one hour prior to service time in the funeral home, and then will take place at the church until service time.
Mrs. Bodford was a native of Ozark. She and her late husband of 52 years, Leroy W. "Shorty" Bodford, owned and operated Ozark Plumbing-Heating and Electrical for 46 years, until retirement. She was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church, The Women's Missionary Union, and was active in her Sunday school class. She has served President of the Alabama American Legion auxiliary and was very acttve in the local and national chapters.
Her daughter and husband survive her Claudia and Paul Williams, New Town, Ohio; two sons and their wives, John W "Billy" and his wife Kathleen Bodford, Jackson, Miss., Leroy W. Jr. "Bubba" and his wife Michele Bodford, Ozark; two sisters Peggy Archipoli and Sara Brown, Ozark; one brother Dean Peters, Pittsview; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Lawrence Melton Deloney, age 78, of Ozark, died at his home on Monday July 10, 2000, following a long and extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Davis officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Mr. Deloney was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Civil Service after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mittie Deloney of Ozark; two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include wife, Mrs. Estelle P. Deloney of Ozark, one daughter, Patricia D. Peters of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Sherry Deloney of Webster, Texas; one sister, Imogene Harris of Ozark; four grandchildren, Brandy Deloney, Dustin Deloney, William Peters, Justin Peters; two great-grandchildren, Luke Peters and Hannah Peters; numerous nieces and nephews, and special nephew, Isaac Harris of Ozark.
Barbara Ellen Morgan, 52, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at her home in Ozark.

Mrs. Morgan graduated from nursing school in Tampa, Fla. She moved to Dothan in 1986 and was employed with Wesley Manor in Dothan for 11 years. She had lived in the Ozark area for the past six months. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lillian Toup; a sister, Sandra Stephens.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandie and Dean Stansell of Ozark; one son, Jim Blake; one sister, Nancy Wex of Piedmont; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Oneda Paulk, 91, of Ozark, died Friday afternoon, July 7, 2000, in Henry County Nursing Facility following an extended illness.

Mrs. Paulk was a native of Dale County where she retired from the Ozark City School System working at Flowers and Mixon Elementary Schools in the lunchrooms until her retirement.
She was a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church in Ozark where she taught Children's Sunday School for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband Odus Paulk, and a grandson, Duane Paulk.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Ed Gassett, McKinney, Texas, Sarah and Don Wilson, Birmingham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Shirley Paulk, Ozark; Sammy and Pat Paulk, Deatsville, six grand-children and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Elmo Gamble, 60, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000 in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark.

James Robert Patton, age 55, of Newton, died Monday July 3, 2000.

Lt. Col. (Ret) J. W. Ramsey, age 79, of Nottingham Way Ozark, died in the Ozark Nursing Facility Sunday, July 2, 2000 following an extended illness.

Col. Ramsey retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1959 after serving 22 years. He moved to Ozark from Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1989.

Mr. John Parker Casey, 49, of Ozark, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Casey was born in Germany while his father was stationed there in the United States Army. He lived in Tampa, Fla., prior to moving to Ozark to live with his grandmother Turner.
Mr. Casey was preceded in death by his mother and father Agnes Turner Casey and Herbert D. Casey Jr.; and his twin brother, Robert Daniel Casey.

Mr. Mack Turner, 79, of Ozark, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, June 30, 2000, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan following an extended illness.

Mr. Turner was born in Ozark on Feb. 2, 1921. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Belgium, Holland and Germany. After returning from Germany, he was engaged in the sawmill business for several years with his brother, R.L. (Bob) Turner. Mr. Turner then went into business operating Turner's Standard Service Station and Grocery for 16 years before selling out. He began in the insurance business as a general agent for 10 ears. Since 1988, he and his oldest son, Wayne Turner, have been in the mini warehouse and convenience store business.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by one son, Russell Allen Turner, in May 1999, seven brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanelle Grimes Turner, Ozark; one daughter, Patti Turner Watson, Caryville, Fla.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Archie Wayne and Lynn Turner, Ozark; Larry M. Turner, San Jose, Calif.; Creig Turner, Norcross, Ga.; and Joel and Wendy Turner, Mt. Airy, N.C.; brothers, Von Guy Turner, Ozark; Boyd V Turner, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; J.C. Jewell Grace McKee, 72, of Ozark, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. McKee was a native and life long resident of Dale County where she worked with Van Heusen for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Dessie M. Benefield, 83, of Montgomery, formerly of Ozark, died Friday, June 23, 2000, in Montgomery.

Mrs. Benefield was a native of Coffee County moving to Ozark early in life and living here until 1985 when she moved to Montgomery.
She was a member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos W. Benefield in 1981.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Benefield, Montgomery; one brother, Elbert Arnette Jr. Broadway, N.C. and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Willie Woodrow (Woody) Brackin, age 70, of Ozark, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at the Dale Medical Center.

Mr. Shawn Sullivan, age 25, died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Ozark.

Mr. J. P. Casey, 71, of Ozark, died Thursday morning, June 15, 2000 in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Casey was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Ruth Casey in 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Stafford and her husband, Mack, Ozark; one son, Roger Casey and his wife, Debbie, Dothan; two sisters, Thelma Baxley, Ozark; Edna Hancock, Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Michael Stafford, Brandy Stafford Olson, Chad Casey, and Carrie Casey; one great-grandchild, Christopher Stafford.
Mr. Dorsey C. Kelley Sr. age 85 of Route l, Skipperville, died Wednesday morning, June 14, 2000 in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a long illness.

Mr. Kelley was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Dale County. He was Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and song leader of Morgan Baptist Church. A member of the Dale County Board of Education for 29 years, manager of Barkett's Men's Store in Ozark for 42 years, and member the staff of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home for six years.

Mrs. Lillian L. Lawrence, a resident of Ozark, departed this life, June 13, 2000, in the Dale Medical Center of Ozark.
Service arrangement is Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lawrence will be placed in the church one hour before service time. Arrangements are entrusted to the Trawick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mattie Ruth Cotten, 83, of Orlando, formerly of Ozark, died Monday, June 12, 2000, in a Kissimmee, Fla., hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Moore officiating. Interment will be in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery near Enterprise, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 tonight until service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6-8 tonight.
Mrs. Cotten was a native of Geneva County and lived in Ozark prior to moving to Enterprise where she and her late husband owned and operated the Dairy Dream Restaurant and Pioneer Traders Car Company until their retirement. They then returned to Ozark to reside where Mrs. Cotten was a
member of the Post Oak Baptist Church. The past two years Mrs. Cotten had been with her daughter in Orlando.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac Ray Cotten. Survivors include three daughters, Opal Jean Stinson, Troy, Mary Kathryn Goodson, Orlando, Linda Janet Bowden, Level Plains; five sons, Charles Wilburn Cotten, Ozark, Thomas Ray Cotten, Panama City, Fla., James Milton Cotten, Hawaii, John Douglas Cotten, Elmore, Joseph Andrew Cotten, Panama City, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cotten's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Ann Johnson Tucker, 77, Kathleen, Ga. formerly of Sylvester, Ga. died Monday, June 12, 2000, after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the Chapel of Banks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dexter Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Sylvester, Ga., and the wife of the late James A. Tucker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the hospice of Houston County, Inc. 2006 Watson Boulevard. Warner Robins, Ga. 31093.
Survivors include, one daughter, Judy T. Morris/Allmon, Kathleen, Ga.; two sons, Jimmy L. Tucker, Merridian, Miss., Timothy J. Tucker, Columbus Ga.; one sister, Molly Bell, Newville, Al; one brother Louis Johnson, Newville, Al.
James (Jim) Walter Henderson Jr., age 67, of Valentine Extension, Ozark, died in the Dale Medical Center Sunday evening June 11, 2000.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 .m. Wednesday from the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Farrell Boyd and Rev. Talmadge Butler officiating. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be from 6 tonight until service time. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 tonight.
Mr. Henderson was retired from the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1962. Later he was employed with Sikorsky Refueling at Fort Rucker. He retired in 1993.

Henderson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Earl Brannon, Milledgeville, Ga.; Judith and Charles Stuart St. Petersburg, Fla.; Susan and Stuart McHenry, Waldorf, Md.; one brother, G. Rudolph and Bonnie Henderson, Ocean Springs Miss.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
