Mrs. Pearl Willoughby Ragan, 79 of Ozark died Friday morning, April 25, 2003, in Dothan following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hart and the Rev. Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Holman Funeral Home, 995 South Union Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be .made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.
Mrs. Ragan was born in Coffee County to Tura Thompson Gunter and Carl Grady Gunter. She was a lifelong resident of Dale County where she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She worked with Phillip Van Heusen Corp. for nine years, Dale Medical Center and Ozark Nursing Facility. She was a homemaker and loved sewing and working with her flowers. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for each of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Ragan is survived by her husband, Jimmie D. Ragan of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Cooper of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Sheila Willoughby of Ariton; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Ann and James Chancellor of Coffee Springs, Jimmie Nell and Robert Hollis of Headland one sister, Mary Lou Martin of Ft. McCoy, Fla.; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to Wiregrass Hospice and Extendicare of Dothan.
Mrs. Della Kitchens Mione, 86 of Ozark died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Campground Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Sonanstine and the Rev. Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Campground Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Campground Baptist Church Building Fund, 3898 East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala. 36360.
Mrs. Mione was born in Richton, Miss., and lived her early years in Mississippi. She moved to the Ozark area in 1963. She was a member of Campground Baptist Church and the Lydia Ladies Sunday School Class. She enjoyed yard work, traveling and spennding time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Julius Mione; and one grandchild, Chris Paramore.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances and Mike Harrison of Dothan, Della and Jack Williams of Lyles, Tenn., and Sandra Broxson of Dothan; one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sandra Mione of Daleville; 11 grandchildren, Nichole Hand of Columbia, Mike Irvine of Columbia, Matt Irvine of Ozark, David Harrison of Dothan, Debbie Anderson of Lyles, Tenn., Tony Paramore of Miami, Fla., Heather Morott of Ozark, Leah Broxson of Clanton, Ashlie Broxson of Dothan, Lauren Mione of Baton Rouge, La., Joseph Mione of Daleville; 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Clayton Hobdy, 40 of Plum Street, Ozark, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at First Missionary Baptist Church, East Andrews Avenue, Ozark. Burial will be at Ozark City Cemetery with Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Ozark Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Alton Grady Harrison, 74 of Ozark, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Dale Medical Center.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home. The Revs. Al Sonastine and Harry Circle will officiate. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral home. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Claybank Masonic Lodge or Wiregrass Hospice.
Mr. Harrison was retired from the U.S. Army and Dale Medical Center. He was a member of Claybank Masonic Lodge #908 and a member of the Kolb Chapter of the Eastern Star #468.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Paul Harrison and Ethel (mom-bo) Harrison and two sisters; Jerry Burkeen and Louise White.
Survivors include wife, Virginia Harrison, of Ozark; one daughter, Karen Sisk of Ozark; one son, Lennie Harrison, and wife Purita, of Port Orchard, Wash.; two grandchildren, Virginia Mae Sisk, of Ozark; April Diane Sisk of Ozark; sister-in-law Mary Anne Jones, and her husband Bobby, of Ozark; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include: Elton Gordon, Lou Kline, Ed Sanders, Chuck Fry, Glen Merritt, Ed Nelson, Bob Jackson and Marcus Hughes.
Mr. Elijah Washington, 82 of Ozark, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Oakview Manor Nursing Facility in Ozark.
Funeral services will be 2 pm. Tuesday, April 22 at, Trawick Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Titus Cummings officiating. Burial will be at Travelers Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Sybil Beatrice Fowler, 83 of Judge Logue Road, Newton, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held 17 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 200'i, at Antioch Baptist Church in the Oak Grove Community of Geneva County. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kent-Thornton Meadows Funeral Home. The family wishes that contributions be made to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Fowler, and her parents, Walter and Gertrude Johnson Reeves.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Nowell and husband Kenny of Dothan, and Judith Fowler of Newton; a son, James Fowler and wife Melinda, Griffin, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristie and husband Charlie Platt, Dothan, Kim and husband Alan Devier, Wicksburg, Brittany, Ashley and Breanna Fowler, Griffin, Ca.; Great-grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Platt, Dothan, and Brantley Platt, Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Mattie and Frank McGowan, Black, Ala., and Irene Foxworth, Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shirley Patricia Anglin Dykes, 66 of Ozark, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 at Ewell Bible Baptist Church with Pastor David Lewis and Pastor G. L. Wynn officiating. Burial will be at Ewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark.
Mrs. Dykes was a member of Ewell Bible Baptist Church and was a member of Senior Saints Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School for more than 25 years. She worked as a secretary of Dale County Christian School.
Survivors include husband, Robert Dykes of Ozark; daughter, Victoria Dykes Geer and husband, Donald, of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Sam Anglin of Kissemee, Fla; sisters, Linda Aman, Joyce Brady, Laura Crooms and Nell Livingston; all of Ashford; grandsons Wesley Geer and Robert Geer of Toledo, Ohio.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lonice Marie Evans Johnson, 50 of Ozark, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Revs. Linda Hayes and Gene Williams officiating.
Survivors include daughter, Andrea Johnson Smith and husband, Darryl, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Elanor Williams Johnson of Suitland, Md., and Mellinee McFarquhar of Ozark; two brothers, Bernard Williams of Mulbury, Fla., and Wallace Maultsby of Ozark; grandmother, Elanor Evans of Lakeland, Fla.; two nieces, Jemelia Colston of Ozark, and Sharon Green of Mulberry, Fla.; nephew, Bemard Williams Jr. of Mulburry, Fla.; five aunts; a host of cousins and special friends.
Mrs. Lorraine Wetzel Olive, 48 of Ozark, died Friday evening, April 11, 2003, at Extendicare Hospice of Dothan following a long illness.
The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michaels Episcopal Church. The Rev. Martha Kreamer will officiate. A second memorial service will be held in Michigan. The date has not yet been determined.
Mrs. Olive was born May 13, 1954, in Jackson Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold (Mike) Wetzel and Phyllis Rainsberger, both of Jackson, Mich. Lorraine entered the Army and served just over 20 years as an air traffic controller. She retired from Fort Rucker in November of 1995 as a master sergeant (E-8).
She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Olive Sr. of Ozark; daughter, Ashley Nichole Olive of Ozark - sons, Michael (Sawyer) Robert Olive Jr. and Gaige Monroe Olive, both of Ozark; three brothers, Michael and Lisa Wetzel, Mark and Diana Wetzel, and Chuck and Teresa Chapman, all of Jackson, Mich. four sisters, LayVonn and David Beatty, Lynette Wetzel, Tanya and Frank Primeau, all of Jackson, Mich., Lisa Chapman of Enterprise; two sisters-in-law, Sunni and
Johnny Jacobs, and Tani and Mike Spears, all of Ariton; father and mother-in-law, Leon (Mac) and Bette (Mickey) McSwain of Ozark. The rest of her family resides in the Jackson, Mich., area.
She also has two very special friends, Tammy Bolich of Ozark, and Kathy Emerson of Jackson, Mich. She is also survived by many nieces nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Ms. Nita Helms Johnson, 96 of Skipperville, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Ozark Nursing Facility.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Hancock Jr. and the Rev. Riley Enfinger officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Keahey Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services Thursday. Mrs. Helms-Johnson was born March 6, 1907, to William R. and Alice Creel Fillingim. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was employed and retired from Phillips-Van Heusen. After her retirement, she was employed with Clio Senior Citizens Program for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gordon Helms and William Henry Johnson.
Survivors include one step-son, Ollie Johnson of Louisville; four daughters and, sons-in-law, Louise Belcher of Abbeville, Joyce and William E. Skinner of Huntsville, Kathryn Ezell of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Peggy and Bennie Hagler of Skipperville; two step-daughters, Voncile Thomas of Phenix City, Dorothy Haerer of New Florence, Mo.; three sisters, Hilma Self of Clayton, Vera Wynn of Eufaula, and Thelma Flynn of Carolton, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerome Key, Donald Skinner, Dennis Skinner, Terry Whitley, David Hagler and Brandon Hagler.
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Jones, 69 of Ozark, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at First Missionary Baptist Church, East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, with Pastor Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Travelers Rest Cemetery.
Johnnie Mae Bell was born April 12, 1933, to James and Berlean Bell in Orrville. Professing her belief in Christ at an early age, Johnnie Mae joined Antioch Baptist Church in Orrville. Johnnie Mae graduated from Keith High School in Orrville and attended Selma University.
On Jan. 31, 1955, Johnnie Mae married the love of her life Walter Jones Sr. Obeying God's commandment "to be fruitful and multiply," Johnnie and Walter were blessed with six children, Gloria (Keith Walker) Jones of Tuskegee, Walter (Tondeleria) Jones of Montgomery, Lyvetta Renee (Pierre) Dyck of Ozark, Wanda Faye (Timothy) Flowers of Enterprise, Jennifer Jones Ray of Montgomery Joseph Kelvin (Wanda) Jones of Ozark.
In service to our Lord and Savior, Johnnie Mae joined First Missionary Baptist Church when the family moved to Ozark. At First Missionary Baptist Church, Johnnie Mae served as a member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir Matrons, Sunday School Class #2 and the Deaconessess. In addition, she served the community as the Worthy Matron of the Pride of Alabama, Chapter #60, O.E.S., member of the Herrons of Jericho and member of the New Era #2 District Matrons. Knowing that loving our fellowman is God's fundamental commandment, Johnnie Mac befriended everyone she met.
Courageously answering the Lord's call, Song Bird Johnnie Mae went to her heavenly home Sunday, April 6. She was preceded in death by her brother, Woodrow Bell; son, Glenn Robbins; and sister, Lula Fuller. Along with Walter and six children, Johnnie Mae leaves to cherish her memory brother, Lee Edward Bell of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Rosie McReynolds of Birmingham, Marion Keith of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Malisa Curtis, Ethylene Nettles, Helen Darden, Massey (Carrie) Jones, all of Selma; 15 grandchildren, Andrew Flowers, Pierre Dyck, Sharonda Dyck, Walter Jones III, Richard Dyck, Ashley Flowers, Artez Jones, Byron Dyck, Jasmine Jones, Joseph Jones, Michelle Jones, Michael Jones, Alexis Flowers, David J. Jones, and Malisa Ray; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Naomi Beasley Williams, 82 of County Road 549, Newton, died Sunday night, April 6 2003, at her home, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of the Mt. Hebron Community of Dale County, the daughter of the late Rev. Marcus A. Beasley and Vera Peacock Beasley. She was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Hubert Williams; two sisters, Emma Allgood and Marguerite Hamby; two brothers, Earl Beasley and Ray Beasley and also a daughter-in-law, Jean Varnum Williams.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Shirley Moseley and her husband, W.J. Moseley, of Ozark Linda Whitehead and her husband, Ray Whitehead, of Dothan; five sons, Hubert D. Williams of Dothan, Don Williams and his wife, Judy Williams, of Pinckard, Jerry Williams and his wife, Pat Williams, of Dothan; Kenneth Williams and his wife, Beverly Williams, of Prattville, Lowell Williams and his wife, Deanna Williams, of Pinckard; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-.grandchildren; two sisters Mildred Mauldin of Pinckard and Betty Weaver and her husband, Frank Weaver, of Acworth, Ga.; two sisters-in-law,, Erma Beasley of Newtom and Vera Mae Aplin of Malvern.

Allen Rogers, 80 of Daleville, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Medical Center Enterprise following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Interment will follow in Ariton City Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at Holman Funeral Home, 995 South Union Avenue, Ozark, 334-774-5348, from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Monday evening, April 7, 2003, with the family receiving friends during this time.
Mr. Rogers was a native and life-long resident of Dale County. Mr. Rogers was a member of the original Ozark Eagles and the starting pitcher in the 1940s, and remained an avid baseball fan all of his life. Mr. Rogers had various jobs during his working years: fireman, policeman, taxi driver, worked with Cowikee Mills, Jordan Pile Driving, and B. F. Williams Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Casey, and two brothers, Johnny Rogers and Don Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Ray Jackson Rogers, Daleville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jolanda and Jack Bundy, Dothan, Barbara Daniels, Ozark; two step daughters and one son-in-law, Velisha and Brian O'Connell, Enterprise; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lois Rogers, Martinez, Georgia, Dennis and Dot Rogers, Dothan, Charles Rogers, Daleville; two step sons and one daughter-in-law, Curtis and Lena Goss, Samson, James Goss, Daleville; three sisters, Corine Miller, Mae Opal and Robert Munn, and Maxine and Johnny Wood, Ozark; two brothers, Billy and Helen Rogers, Ozark, Fred Rogers, Bainbridge, Georgia; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren; a special friend, Grace Rivera "Bright Eyes"; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ann Nell Williams Thompson, 62 of Millbrook died Saturday; April 5, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The Rev. Randy Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in Universal Cemetery in Ariton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Thompson, and one son, Billy Thompson.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Thompson of Millbrook; her sister, Martha Catrett of Ariton; two brothers, John Williams of Ariton and Burion L. Williams of Tucson, Ariz.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Hawkins, John Williams, Bobby Williams, Adam Williams, Jeff Cox, and David Mahar.
