Mr. Clark Allan Buchanan Sr., 69 of Ozark, died Wednesday afternoon, April 28, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2004, from New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Reams, Rev. Dan Shepherd and Chaplain Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 until 8 tonight; the family will receive friends during these hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to the First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, AL, 36360 or Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, AL, 36360.
Mr. Buchanan was born Feb. 16, 1935 in Opp, Ala., the son of the late Huel and Myrtle Feagin Buchanan. His family moved to Ozark, Ala. when he was 15 years of age. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Troy State University. He retired as a building inspector from the City of Ozark.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Loretta Enfinger Buchanan of Ozark, Ala.; two daughters, Cynthia Farver of Midland City Ala. and Camille Lassiter of the Bertha Community; two sons, Allan Buchanan and his wife, Sophia, of Ozark, Ala. and Charles Buchanan of Selma, Ala.; one sister Frances Curtis, of Roseville, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Sara and Samantha Lassiter Rachel and Trey Buchanan, and Cody Buchanan.
Casket bearers will be Paul Kolb, Bethea Stowers, Jimmy Walker, Joe Woods, Bobby Williford, Dr. Taylor Caffey and Danny Golson.
Mrs. Barbara Jean Marsh, 42 of Ozark, Ala., died Wednesday April 28, 2004 at Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May l, 2004 from Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Senn officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
Mrs. Marsh lived in Dale County most of her life. She attended Vivian B. Adams School and was a member of King's Table Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Hallford of Midland City
Survivors include her husband', Jerry Marsh of Ozark, Ala.; mother, May Myrtle Hallford of Ozark, Ala.; one son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Samantha Hallford, of Pansey Ala.; three grandchildren, Clarissa Hallford, Robert Hallford, and Joshua Scott, all of Pansey Ala.; three sisters & brothers-in-law Grace & David Wade of Dothan, Leiarol and Ken Merritt of Dothan and Trudy and Lamar Sasser of Ozark, Ala.; two brothers & sisters-in-law, Lamar Hallford of Midland City Ala. and Bobby & Diane Hallford of Echo, Ala.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Mr. Luther M. Sheehane, 75 of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, April 28, 2004 at Oakview Manor Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be graveside 2 p.m. today, April 30, 2004 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Tommy West officiating. Interment will follow. Mr. Sheehane was a native of Dale County, Ala. where he was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church. He farmed during his younger years, and later was a glass polisher at Napier Field.
Mr. Sheehane was preceded in death by his parents, Martin C. and Anna Mae Powers Sheehane; sisters, Mary Belle Sheehane Keller, Mamie Frances Sheehane; brothers, (twin) Lawrence Sheehane and Thomas Sheehane.
Survivors include his brother-in-law, Floyd Keller; sister-in-law, Annie Belle Sheehane; and several nieces and nephews of Kansas City Mo.
Ilona A. Phillips, 61 and resident of Ozark, Ala., died Wednesday April 28, 2004 at Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday May l, 2004 at Pinckard United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Davitz officiating. Burial will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born Oct. 25, 1942 in Germany and lived the early years of her life in Frankfurt. In 1961, she was married to Arthur F. Phillips and moved to the United States. During her husband's military career, she resided in various places around the world.
Mrs. Phillips is predeceased by a grandson, Robert Phillips. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Arthur Phillips, Ozark; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas D. and Claire Phillips, Pinckard; two daughters, Anita Phillips, Ozark and Sandra Payne, Germany; three grandchildren, Marie Phillips of Pinckard, Jonathan Payne and Jennifer Payne of Germany; four sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rosa Blankenship, age 77, passed away at her son's home in Ozark, Ala. Thursday morning, April 22, 2004, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 from New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Sheppard officiating. Mrs. Blankenship was a life-long native of Dale County Ala. having lived in the Bertha Community all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Lester & Palmer Speigner Galloway and her husband, Marvette C. Blankenship.
Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law Cullen & Sharon Blankenship, of Ozark, Ala.; one granddaughter Hannah Blankenship, of Ozark; three grandsons, Justin Blankenship of Portland, Ore., Aaron Blankenship of Montgomery Ala., Nathan Blankenship of Ozark; one brother Howard Galloway of Dothan; two aunts, Mrs. Vassie Dismukes and Mrs. Ruby Watford, both of Dothan; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Benny Floyd Casey, 67 of Ozark, Ala., died Tuesday evening April 20, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 in Holman Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Rev. Floyd Ingram and Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. Mr. Casey was born in Barbour County, the son of Naomi Ruth Dansby Casey and Cecil Fletcher Casey. He served in the United States Marines until his retirement. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Omega Casey Ozark; two daughters, Keisha Vickers and her husband, Stan, Ozark, and Gloria Casey; three sons, Kevin Casey and his wife, Sondra, Kenny Casey and his wife, Senia, and Kyle Casey and his wife, Kim, all of Ozark; one sister, Carol Willis and her husband, Bill, Ozark; two brothers, Bobby L. Casey and his wife, Doris, Ozark, and Billy L. Casey and his wife, Mavis, Enterprise; 10 grandchildren, Brian McNeal, Ben McNeal, Meghan McNeal, Justin Lance Casey, Tiffany Gilland, Kathie Casey, Kaiti Casey, Kennon Casey, Kole Casey, and Konner Casey; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Don Howell, 61 of Ozark, died Monday, April 19, 2004 in Southeast Alabama Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Stonebridge Church of'God with Rev. Floyd Ingram, Rev. George Ellison, Rev. Jim Hopper, and Rev. Al Loper officiating. Mr. Howell was born March 26, 1943 in Enterprise, Ala. and has lived in Ozark since the late 1960's. He served in the United States Army for eight years; including two tours of duty in Vietnam, one as a medic and one as a pilot. He was a past Chief of Police in Ariton. He worked with the United States Postal Service in Ozark and retired following 18 years of service. He was a member of Stonebridge Church of God for 14 years and a member of the senior adult Sunday school class. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, an avid fisherman and Alabama football fan. He loved his family and church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Currington Howell and Hubert Henry "Hub" Howell.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby J. Mr. William D. "Bill" James, 75 of Ariton, Ala., went home to be with his Lord Monday night, April 19, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 23, 2004 at Bethel Assembly of God with Rev. Robert Hamilton and Rev. Kenneth Henegar officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family receiving friends during this time.
Mr. James was born in Manor, Ga., the son of the late Troy Berton James Sr. and Rosa (Steedley) James. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Ariton. Mr. James was a retired X-ray Technician at Lyster Army Hospital in Ft. Rucker and worked for many years at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was a 20-year veteran serving his country in both the Air Force and Army. Mr. James received jesus as his personal Lord & Savior in May of 1965. He was an avid soul winner and was never ashamed to share about the saving power of Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann James; and a sister, Mildred Gilliard.

Mr. Benjamin "Ben" Matthews, 76 of Ozark, passed away at his residence Monday April 19, 2004.

Mr. Matthews was born in Dale County, Ala. Jan. 29, 1928, the son of the late Mack Matthews and Inella Crittenden Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a member of St. Mark's A.M.E. Church in Ozark and was retired from Waste Management of Pennsylvania.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jane P. Matthews of Ozark, Ala.; step-daughter, Jessie Temple and her husband, Whitney; two step-sons, John Young and Stephen Lester and his wife Anasthasia; sisters, Pearl and James Johnson of Saginaw, Mich., Lottie Jones of Ozark, Amelia McCallinster of Chicago, Grace Gaines of Ozark; brother, Coley and Marie Matthews of Saginaw, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Johnesha, Zachary and Braden.
Mr. Leamon Aaron Wiggins, 87 of Ozark, died Friday morning, April 16, 2004, in Dale Medical Center.

Mr. Wiggins was a native and life-long resident of Dale County where he was engaged in farming and saw milling. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeffie Herndon Wiggins and Theopolis "Bud" Wiggins, his wife, Lucy Dell German Wiggins, one daughter, Derotha German, one son, Marlon Wiggins, one sister, Betty June Brannon, and two brothers, Preston Wiggins and Wilmer Wiggins.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Lomax Willis, Voncille and John Ed Phillips, Ozark; four sisters, Mary Frances Williams, Ozark, Bonnie Ruth Thomas, Headland, Mattie Beasley, Ozark, Nellie Mae McCoy Atlanta; one brother and sister-in-law, Deryl and Elizabeth Wiggins, Norma, Florida; seven grandchildren, Vicky Lomanack, Nancy Brock, Sherrie Tharpe, Laura Phillips, Gary Willis, Harold German, Terry German; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Eva Mae Riley, age 57, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004 at her home after an extended illness.

Mr. Rex Walker of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, April 14, 2004 at his home.

Mr. Walker was a native and life-long resident of Ozark. He joined the United States Army in 1941, and then served for over 40 years in the Army Reserves. He worked for the City of Ozark Water Department; then with the Water Department of Civil Service at Fort Rucker; retiring as the Water Plant Manager. He was an avid master gardener: He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for over 70 years. He loved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evie Andrews Walker and Lewie Walker his wife of 38 years, Syble Walker; and three brothers, Leslie Walker; Gene Walker; and Smith McKay "Smitty" Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Vernie Mae Walker; Ozark; his son, Reggie Walker and his wife Tammy, Ozark; his step daughter, Debbie Chance and her husband, Richard, Elba; his step-sons, Ronnie Davis and his wife, Yvonne, Newville and Bobb Davis and his wife Leigh Anne, Elba; his sisters, Ruth Walker, Orange Beach, and Syble Cook and her husband, Swifty, Abbeville; his brothers, Bob Walker and his wife, Janie, Fort Myers, Fla. George Walker and his wife Sharon Maplesville, Ala.
