Mrs. Ruth Goss Carroll, 80 of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, April 13, 2004 at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Ozark with Rev. Joe Reams and Rev. Marty Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 until 8 tonight. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Friday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, AL, 36360.
Mrs. Carroll was born and raised in Washington Pa. She married Eugene Carroll in 1944 and lived in Ozark since that time. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Rucker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, where she was a member of the John Wesley Sunday school class. She enjoyed cooking, Alabama football and spending time with her family. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Artie Breese Goss and Earnest Goss and her husband of 59 years, Eugene M. Carroll in February 2004.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Carole Carroll, Northport Ala.; her grandchildren Amanda and her husband, John Barnes, Austin, Texas and Austin David Carroll, Northport, Ala.; her great-grandson, Joseph Carroll Barnes, Austin, Texas; her sisters, Nan Grant and her husband, John, California, Elanor Morris, Taylorstown, Pa. and Lois Gayvert, California; her brothers, Glenn Goss and his wife, Wendy, Fort Myers, Fla. and James Goss and his wife Dolly, California; and her special. friend Elizabeth Lambert.

Mr. Travis H. "Willie" Wilson, 77 of Ozark, Ala., died Monday, April 12, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 14, 2004 from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Deacon John Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full military rites. Masonic services will also be conducted at graveside by Claybank Masonic Lodge 908 of Ozark, Ala. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions are requested to be sent to Claybank Masonic Lodge 908, P.O. Box 1103, Ozark, AL, 36361 or Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 E. Andrews Avenue, Ozark, AL, 36360.
Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Olney, Texas, the son of the late Gilbert Edward Wilson and Virgie Mary Edwards Wilson. Mr. Wilson attended rural school of Young County High School in Graham, Texas and received his college degree while serving in the Army. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Army and served for 22 years, retiring at the rank of E-7. After retirement, he taught at the Aviation School in Ozark for 25 years. Mr. Wilson was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a member of Claybank Masonic Lodge 908.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert Edward Wilson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Hilde Wilson, of Ozark, Ala.; a devoted son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jackie Wilson, of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two sisters, Frances Beatrice Henderson of Graham, Texas and Joan Broach of Darlington, S.C.; one brother, James Elmer Wilson of Tracy Calif.; two grandchildren, Geofrey and Melana Polson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Vivian Barr Cooper, 75 of Ozark, died Monday, April 12, 2004 in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Campground Baptist Church with Rev. Al Sonartstine officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 5 until 7 tonight. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Campground Baptist Church, 2300 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, AL,36360.
Mrs. Cooper was a native of Phenix City, Ala., married to Robert Lee Cooper in 1946, and traveled with him while he was in the military service. She has lived in Ozark since 1965. She was a member of Campground Baptist Church and the Lydia Ladies Sunday school class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Cooper; one brother, William "Billy" Barr; and one granddaughter, Becky Lynn Bollin.
Survivors include four daughters, Lynne Rowe and her husband, William, Paxton, Fla., Linda Marie Ballow and her husband, Thomas, Titus, Ala., Marsha Chase and her husband, Bruce, New Albany, Pa., Carol Kramer and her husband, Joe, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Barr and his wife, Mary, Buford, Ga. and Wallis Barr and his wife, JoAnne, Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Eric Scott Bollin, Patrick Bollin, Allen Tanner, Jr., Robert Tanner, Brian Trotter, Ryan Mullinax, Heather Parrish, Jennifer Parrish, and Danielle Foley; and four great- grandchildren, Robert Cooper Tanner, Kelly, Brandt, and Blane Trotter.

Mrs. Betty Kirkland, 72 of Ozark, Ala., died Monday April 12, 2004 in Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today, April 15, 2004 at Holman Funeral home in Ozark. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 9 a.m. today until service time.
Mrs. Kirkland was a native and life-long resident of Dale County where she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Kirkland.

Mrs. Betty Lou Harrell went home to be with Jesus on April 11, 2004, at her residence, 1162 Fletcher Smith Rd. Cottonwood, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 13, 2004, Harrell at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Dothan with Rev. Michael Whitt and Rev. Buford Henderson officiating. The family will be at the residence 1162 Fletcher Smith Road, Cottonwood. Burial will be in Cottonwood City Cemetery.
Mrs. Harrell had lived here her entire life. She had been employed with Sony, in quality control. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church Cottonwood, and attended Cottonwood High School.
Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by one son, Danny Harrell; her father, Oscar Skipper and mother Goldie White Skipper; two brothers, Bernice Skipper and Rev. Ray Skipper.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Houston Harrell, Cottonwood; one son, Ricky and his wife Suzanne Harrell of Ozark; two granddaughters, Kristy Harrell of Cottonwood, and Jodie Gilmore of Cottonwood; two grandsons, Jake and Will Harrell of Ozark; also several nieces and nephews.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are Don Shirah, Lamon Galloway, Kenny Skipper, Charles Earl Exum, Boyd Childree, and Billy Harden.

Mr. Roscoe Tomlin, 87 of Ozark, died early Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2004, in Ozark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday April 14, 2003, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Hart and Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. The body will be laced in the church one hour prior to service time on Wednesday In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mr. Tomlin was a native of the Pleasant Grove Community of Ozark where he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he and his late Wife, Mary Cannon Tomlin, served as Church Custodians since 1974. His Wife preceded him in death in May 2002. He was a retired construction brick mason practicing his trade for 50 years. He laid his first brick on D.A. Smith School and later worked on Perry Recreation Center.
His son and his wife survive him, Neldon and Mary Tomlin, Ozark; grandchildren, Rodney and Amy Tomlin, Alex Tomlin, Ozark, Jay and Amy Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida; his sister, Maxine Danner Ariton; his brother, James E. "Boots" Tomlin, Ozark; four great-grandchildren, Abby Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida, MacKenzie Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida, Dylan Tomlin, Ozark, and Cecily Tomlin, Panama City Beach, Florida.

Bonnie Jean Robertson, 52, of Ozark, Alabama passed away in her sleep unexpectedly April 10, 2004, due to complications of diabetes.
Bonnie was born and lived in Michigan, but had resided in Ozark, Alabama for the last sixteen years, where she was a long-time employee of the Dale County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher, and a dispatcher for the Ariton Police Department until she became disabled.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Willie Martin Harper Sr. in 1991, and a grandson, John Bartley Bushey, Jr. in 1997.
Surviving family members include her husband, Douglas Robertson, Clearwater, Florida, mother, Norma Gene Harper, Ozark; sisters Kristi Thornburg, Ozark; Katharine Bradley, Midland City; Evelyn Clark, Montgomery; Jane Harper, Mississippi; Barbara Clark, Columbus, Ga.; Betty Cunningham, Beulah, Georgia, brothers Russell Harper, Chesterton, Indiana; Willie Harper,Jr. Ozark, and Jimmy Harper, Beulah, Georgia. Surviving Children are Katharine Ivey, Ozark; James Bushey, Ozark; Joseph Bushey, Atlanta; and John Bushey, Atlanta, as well as two stepson, Marc and Allyn Robertson, whom are both serving in the US military. The grandchildren she adored and spoke of so often are Amanda Saunders, Justin Saunders, James Ivey, and Kaitlin Ivey, all of Ozark, and Christopher Bush, Level Plains.
Bonnie will always be remembered for the good things she did for others, the loving support she showed all, and the smile that was always on her face.

Mr. Isadora Martin, age 86, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at his residence in Ozark after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held in Coffeyville, Kansas at 2 p.m. on Friday April 16. at Graves Funeral Home chapel in Coffeyville. Interment will follow in Restlawn cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born September 24, 1917, the youngest of 13 children born to William Martin and Carrie Washington Martin. He was a veteran of WWII and fought in the Philippines under the command of Gen. Douglas McArthur. Before being honorably discharged from service, he received several medals and recognition including the Bronze Star.
Mr. Martin lived in Coffeyville from 1946 until 2000, when he relocated to Ozark to be near his oldest son Dr. William Martin until his death.
Surviving family include his sons, Dr. William Martin, Isadora Martin, Roscoe Martin and Clyde Martin as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Wiregrass Hospice for their care and professionalism during Mr. Martin's illness.

Mr. John William "Bill" Lawson, 68 of Ozark, died Friday April 9, 2004, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Dr. Stephen R. Brandt and Mr. Keith Brasher officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Mr. Lawson was a native of Brooks County, Georgia. He served 20 years in the United States Army, including two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a CW2 Aviator in 1974. He retired from Raytheon Aircraft Support Services at Fort Rucker following 20 years of service. Currently Mr. Lawson was working with Dyncorp LCCS C-12 Program at Fort Rucker.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Edith Daugherty Lawson, Ozark; four daughters, Tonya L. Stinson and her companion, Jason Edwards, Ozark, Julie L. Jones and her husband, Geoff, Ozark, Sherie Soloff, Naples, Florida, and Rebecca Dallidis, Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Danielle and Jonathan Stinson, Brandon and Maegan Bowman, and unborn grandson, William Logan Jones, Jordan, Bryan, and Alexa Soloff; one sister, Wada Boyd, Newton, Georgia; one brother Thomas Lawson, Rockledge, Florida.
Co-workers of Mr. Lawson at DynCorp will serve as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Wilmer Grant Jackson, 83 of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, April 6, 2004 in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 from Faith Christian Center with Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church today from 12 noon until service time. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. EST Friday, April 9, 2004, from Harden's Chapel Cemetery near Lyons Ga. with Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be given to Faith Christian Center, Ozark, Al.
Mr. Jackson was born May 2, 1920. He was the son of Burdette and Ocie Jackson. He entered the Army at the age of 21. After being stationed in various places, he was stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C. where he met the sweetheart of his life, the former Tommie Lou Fuller. They were united in marriage on April 2, 1953. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Mr. Jackson retired after 30 years of service. Though they did not have any children born of this union, they were the parents to many children. He was a dedicated member of Faith Christian Center where he was loved by everyone, young and old. He was always willing to share his wisdom with anyone that would listen. He loved the Lord and was His faithful servant to the end of his days here on earth. Now he is rejoicing in Heaven with Mrs. Tommie and the other friends and loved ones that preceded him in death.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie Jackson; and his sweetheart, Tommie Lou Jackson.
He is survived by a brother, Guy Jackson, of Clarksville W.Va. and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harry Earl Rogers, 76 of Ozark, Ala. passed away at his residence early Sunday morning, April 4 2004 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark with Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Ozark, 1970 East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36830.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Ora E. Rogers; two sons and daughters-in-law Dennis L. and Claudette of Troy, Ala. and David W. and Debbie Rogers of Ozark; four grandchildren., Josh, Jared, Nathan and Daniel.

Mr. Ben Ray Johnson, 76 of Ozark, died Thursday morning, April 1, 2004 in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004 in the chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Pastor Rodger Campbell and Rev. Greg Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 12 noon Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Christian Center Building Fund, 507 Lakeview Road, Ozark, AL, 36360.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 8, 1928 in Choctaw County, Ala. and lived in Ozark since 1954. He served in the United States Marines for two years in China, and was called back into military service with the Marine Reserves in South America. He then worked with Central of Georgia Railroad for three and one half years, and for 41 years with Jordan Pile Driving Company. He was a good father, a loving husband and family man, and most importantly a Christian man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Margaret Pilot Johnson and Richard Parker Johnson and his grandson, Jason Batchelor.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Simmons Johnson, Ozark; his children, Curtis Ray Johnson and his wife, Pam, Connie Lynn Johnson, Bennie Ruth Young, Kenneth Boatwright and his wife, Shirley, Dennis James Boatwright and his wife, Lisa, Debra Sasser and her husband, Harvey; his grandchildren,,Curt Johnson, Holley Johnson, Jackie Batchelor, Ben Allen Young, T. J. Kennington, Cameron Sasser; Nathan Sasser; Evan Murray; Kellie Moore; Nick Boatwright; and Michael Boatwright; and (Deceased) Jason Batchelor; his great-grandchildren Madelyne and Austin Moore.

Alexandria D. Messenger, the infant daughter of Dan and Victoria Messenger, died early Thursday morning, March 31, 2004, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held this morning, April 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the home of her parents with Pastor Phillip Craddock officiating.
Survivors include her parents; one sister, Lillian Gayle Messenger; grandparents, Larry and Catrina Shelton, Gadsden, Ala., Tim and Lauvon Stephenson, Ozark, Ala., Earl and Rennae Bludsworth, Scottsboro, Ala., David and Gina Messenger, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; great-grandparents, Donald and Betty Messenger, St. George, Utah, June Bludsworth, Catherine Bowen, both of Ft. Payne, Ala., Bruce and Eileen Williamson, Ozark, Ala.; four aunts and one uncle: Andrea Messenger, Ozark Ala., Veronica Bludsworth, Dorinda Bludsworth, both of Gadsden, Ala., Chuck and Charlotte Bludsworth and cousins, Hali and Hannah Bludsworth all of Ft. Payne, Ala.; and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 334-702-1712, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Jerry M. Barr, 59 of Ozark, died Monday morning, March 29, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home, Ozark, with Mr. Don Seay officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery near Geneva, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Mr. Barr was born March 23, 1945, in Geneva County, and had lived in Ozark for the past 15 years. He had worked with the City of Ozark for nine years as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Barr, his parents, Frances Estelle Gunter Barr and Henry Lewis Barr, two brothers, Charles Wayne Barr and Robert Jerald Barr.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise Tart and her husband, Jimmy, Enterprise, one stepdaughter, Cindy Theakston, Fort Payne, one son, Gary Barr, Daleville, one stepson, Larry Barnes, Daleville, five sisters, Mary Hughes-Kimler, Midland City, Sandra Clemmons, Coffee Springs, Shirley Ballard, Bellwood, JoAnn Seay, Enterprise, and Judy Ballard, Bellwood, one brother, Henry Earl Barr, Enterprise, one grandson, D. J. Henderson, 10 step-grandchildren.
