Mr. Bennie Lloyd Bowman, age 88, of Ozark died March 19, 2000 at the Ozark Nursing Facility.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston
Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Ingram officiating. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Bowman was a member of Stonebridge Church of God. He was born in Daleville in 1911. He ran a service station on Broad Street for eight years then operated Ezell's Service Station for over three years. He also retired from Cowikee Cotton Mill.
He is preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd, William, Alford, Charlie, and Ray Bowman; two sisters, Bessie Johnston and Annice Crowley.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aline Bowman of Ozark; daughter, Eva Diane Hall of Ozark; son, Billy Wayne Bowman of Ozark; sisters, Ada Ruth Phillips of Ashford; Sybil Moore of Donaldsonville, Ga.; brothers, James Andrew Bowman of Dothan; Louie Mack Bowman of Panama City Fla.; R.L. Bowman of Dothan; three grandchildren, Douglas Wayne Bowman, Sophia Buchanan, DeLana Woodard; one great-granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Buchanan; several nieces, nephews, and step-children.
Mrs. Ora Lock, age 79, of Parker Drive,Ozark died Friday, March 17, 2000, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark with Dr. Billy Gaither and the Rev. Pam Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today until service time Monday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. this afternoon.
Mrs. Lock was a a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, where she taught the preschool Sunday school class for more than 40 years. She was an honorary member of the John Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class. She retired from Carroll Hardware in Ozark in 1985, where she had worked for 15 years as the bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lock, in February 1995. As the teacher of the preschool class, she crocheted an Easter chick for each one of her pupils.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the First United Methodist Church, or flowers will be accepted.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald N. and Lynne Lock, Atlanta; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanor Brady, Alton, Ill., and Dorcas and Ward Miller, Newton; one brother, Randall Brady, Big Bear, Calif.; two granddaughters, Suzanne and Karen Lock, Atlanta.
Mr. John Russaw, a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Trawick Funeral Home.
Mr. Jack Williams Marshall, age 67, of Ozark, died March 13, 2000, at his residence.
Services will be Thursday, March 16, at 2 p.m. from the Camp Ground Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. He will lie in-state at church for an hour prior to the service.
Visitation will be tonight at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Fuqua-Bankstom Funeral Home directing. Butler will officiate.
Mr. Marshall retired from the Air Force in 1972 with 20 years of service. He also worked 20 years with Civil Service. He lived in Ozark for 28 years. Mr. Marshall is prececded in death by his parents,
John Fred Marshall and Edith Marshall; one sister, Mary Ann Gentry; and two brothers, Richard Marshall and John Marshall Jr.
Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Louise" Rainey Marshall, Ozark; two daughters, Terri Lynn McDonough, Lakeland, Fla., and Stacy Marie Sellers, Leesburg, Ga.; one son, Jack William Marshall Jr., New York, N.Y.; threer sisters, Barbara J. Large, Auburn, Brenda Booher, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Carolyn Davis, Gainesville, Fla.; three brothers, Alan Marshall, Bristol, Tenn., Glenn Marshall, Munising, Mich., and Bobby Robert Marshall, Bristol, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Rainey, Felisha, Adam, Andrew, Marshall and Daniel.
Mrs. Helen R. Shaw, age 56, died Monday afternoon, March 13, 2000, at her residence on Valentine Extension, Ozark, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. W.L. Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Nancy Alice Williams, 98, of Ozark, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 12 p.m. in the Church of God By Faith on King Street in Ozark, with the Elder J.C. Smith Pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Greater Old Salem Cemetery with Trawick Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Mildred McDaniel, 74, of Ozark died Monday morning, March 13, 2000, at her home following a short illness.

Mrs. McDaniel was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County where she was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She retired from Van Heusen and then drove a school bus with the Dale
County School System for a number of years. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Delmar McDaniel; her parents, Indianna Powell Outlaw, and Perry Outlaw; three sisters, Kathryn Drew, Mattie
Lou Jimmerson and Ruth McDaniel; four brothers, Amos Outlaw, Eddie Outlaw, Aaron Outlaw and Arnice Outlaw.

Mr. Oscar L. "Luke" Dunn,50, of Skipperville Road in Ozark died Sunday morning, March 12, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Dunn was a lifelong resident of Ozark where he graduated from Carroll High School in 1967 and was a supervisor with the Dale County Engineering Department. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Ozark First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Peggy Dunn, Ozark; three brothers, James C. Dunn Jr., Newport News, Va., William Bray Dunn, Sunnyside Beach, Fla., and John Arthur Dunn, Ozark.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Helton Sims, 81, of Mixon School Road in Ozark died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in Oakview Nursing Facility following a long illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. today from the First Assembly of God Church in Ozark Rev. Phil Stephens officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Mrs. Sims was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. During the 1950's she worked for WOOD Radio and WMGY in Montgomery where she was known as Pretty Mary. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond S. Grandberry and Tobe Sims; two sisters, Willie Gagnon and Iris Lane; two brothers, Uncle Bob Helton and Frank Helton.
She is survived by one sister, Lillian Bouterse, Skipperville; one brother, Leon Helton, Ozark; eight nieces, Pheobie Wilson, Ozark, Jo Ramey, Panama City, Fla., Sue Gulledge, Abbeville, Dean Luther, Black, Donna Kelly Dothan, Judy Beardslee, Willachooee, Ga., Ramona Croteau, Brentwood, Tenn., and Ann Sprangler, McDonaugh Ga.; four nephews, Billy Scott, Enterprise, Steve Bouterse, Skipperville, Rev. Bennie Jackson,
Winston-Salem, Freddie Helton, Phenix City; several cousins also survive.
Mrs. Nancy Kate Johnson Young, age 62, of Mixon School Road, died Saturday morning, March 11, 2000, in the Ozark Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Young was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark, and a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Simonton, Ozark, and Beverly Horton, Dallas, Texas; two sons, Jason Young, Dallas, Texas, and Greg Young, Denver, Colo.; one brother, Mike Johnson, Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren Jillian Brook Young, Marshall Simonton Jr., Ryan Faircloth and Benjamin Young.
Mr. J.A. (Tommy) Thomason, 71, of Ozark, died Thursday, March 9, 2000 in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at lla.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Greg Aman officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Apache, Okla., Holman Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of local arrangements.
Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from l0a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2000 until service time at lla.m., with the family receiving friends during this time.
Mr. Thomason was native of Fletcher Okla., having lived in Ozark for the past 45 years. He worked with the aircraft maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker for the past 45 years, presently with DynCorp.
Mr. Thomason was a member of Ozark Baptist Church.
Survivurs include his wife, Lena Mae Myers Thomason, Oark; one daughter, Adrinda Edwards, Ozark; one son, Greg Thomason and his wife, Barbara Overland Park, Kansas; two sisters, Jo Campbell, Collegeville, Pa., and Louise Stinnett, Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Samuel Thomason, Oklahoma City, Okla., Ira Thomason, Cyril, Okla., and Howard Thomason, California; two grandchildren, Jon Thomason and Ben Thomason, Overland Park, Kansas.

Mrs. Hattie W. Balkcom, 85 of Ozark died March 8, 2000 at the Oakview Nursing Home.
Services will be Saturday March 11, 2000 a graveside service at 1 p.m. C.S.T. at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga.

Mrs. Balkcom is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Exie Whittle and her husband, Murray M. Balkcom.
She was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church Bibb City, Columbus Ga. She is survived by a brother, Howard Whittle of Albany Ga.; a sister-in-law, Sarah Howell Whittle of Auburn, Ala., niece Martha Myers of Albany, Ga., and four nephews, Barnett Balkcom of Phenix City, Ala., Dr. James Whittle of Auburn, Ala., James Lamax Tharpe of Ozark, and Lee Whittle Tharpe of Ozark.
Steve Baker, 43, of Dothan and formerly of Ozark died Sunday, March 5, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following a lengthy illness.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 8, at Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Senn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mr. Baker was a native of Ozark, and a 1974 graduate of Ariton High School. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Baker, his stepmother, Geraldine Baker and his grandparents, Alfred and Katie Baker, Grover and Foy Eagerton.
Survivors include his father, Jerry Baker of Troy; one sister, Tonya Colvin of Ozark; a step-sister. Pam Lambert of Troy; and two stepbrothers, Ronny Ingram of Alabaster, and Bryant Ingram of Atlanta, Ga.
Mrs. Bertie Frances Jerkins, 81, of Ozark died March 4, 2000, in Oakview Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.
The funeral was held Monday, March 6, at Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Stephens officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Mernory Gardens with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Jerkins was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark and a member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Arnold of Ozark and Pat Stephens of Jonesboro, Ga.; one sister, Mary Blackmon of Ozark; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sonya Alicia Walden, age 40, of Dothan, died Feb. 29, 2000 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ms. Walden was born in Columbus, Ga., on April 9, 1959. She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Eleanor Watford, and a grandfather, Raymond Walden.
The memorial service will be 4 p.m. today, March 2 from the Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel.

Flara Mae Hutcheson, 84, of Ozark, formerly of Albertville, died Tuesday Feb. 29, 2000, in
Ozark.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Manasco officiating. Burial will be held in Memory Hill Cemetery Mrs. Hutcheson was a member of Ozark Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Glenn H. Miss Frentina S. McLeod, 21, a resident of Ozark, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 at Edge Hospital in Troy, Ala.

Coleen Anne "Sissy" Whitiner Robinette, age 43, formerly of Ozark, died at her home in Panama City Thursday Feb. 24, 2000.

Coleen was born March 6, 1956, at Fort Belvoir, Va., the second child of John and Anne Whitiner Jr. She lived in Ozark most of her life, and graduated from Carroll High School in 1974. She received her nursing degree from George C. Wallace, and worked as an LPN for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Robinette, Panama City Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Abigail and John Burns, Ozark; a son, Jason Burgess, Enterprise; a stepdaughter, Angel Robinette; father and mother, john and Anne Whitiner Jr., Ozark; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Judy Whitiner, Guadalajara, Mexico; one sister and brother-in- law, Jennifer and Kenneth Kirkland, Dothan; grandchildren, Hayden and Hannah Burns; and a niece, Beth Kirkland.
Mrs. Ruby Lee Strickland Byrd, age 84, of County Road 156, Enterprise, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2000, in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a long illness.

Strickland, Ozark; a granddaughter and her hus- band, Lisa and Don Hall, Asbury Community; a grandson, Tim Boggess five great-grandchildren, Chad, Josh and Hannah Hall, Lamar Bogess, Dana and her husband, Jason Horton; and one great-great-grandson, Tanner Horton.
Mrs. JoAnn Peters, 65, of Ozark died Monday evening, Feb. 27, 2000, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Timothy Davis, Ed Peters and Joe Underwood officiating. Internment will follow in Mossy Grove Cemetery, on Highway 11, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Mrs. Peters was a native and a lifelong resident of Dale County where she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Cochran, Ozark; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Denise Peters, Lamar Peters, Ozark, Robert and Paige Peters, Ariton, and Larry Peters, Ozark; her mother, Illa Lee Edmonds, Ozark; two sisters, Betty Edmonds, Ariton, and Nina Varney Enterprise; two brothers, Jerry Edmonds, and Bobby Edmonds, Ozark; eight grandchildren, Austin Cochran, Kennedy Peters, William Peters, Justin Peters, Jared Peters, Zandi Foss, Tiffany Paige and Leslie Peters five great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Lela Snell died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at the Dale Medical Center in Ozark.

Mr. Michael Anderson, 18, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Enterprise Medical Center in Enterprise.

Larry H. Whitlock, 46, of Ozark died Friday evening, Feb. 18, 2000 in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Whitlock was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark, working as an officer for the Ozark Police Department for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh M. Whitlock, in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie Whitlock, Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Krista and Carlos Salazar and. Heather and Mark Kiel, all of Ozark; one son, Jason Ivey, Albany Ga.; his mother, Johnnie P. Whitlock, Ozark; and two grandchildren, Raven Salazar and Mark Kiel, Jr.
