Mr. William L. "Bill" Corn, 82 of Ozark, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2004, at. his home.
The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday Nov. 7.
Funeral services for Mr. Corn will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, S.C., with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service time at the cemetery Interment will follow with full military honors.
Mr. Corn was born Oct. 31, 1922 in Oconee County, S.C., to the late Eula Hardin Corn and Adam Corn. He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, receiving the following awards and medals: Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Commendation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal (two Bronze Stars) Philippine Liberation Medal, Korean Service Medal (two Bronze Stars), United Nations Service Medal, and the Southeast, Asia Expeditionary Forces Medal. Mr. Corn worked as a mechanic with Pemco Air Services for 10 years and was a member of Woodmen of the World for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Dennis Corn of Ozark; one son, one son, William Reno Corn; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Wynell and Jesse Reese, Keela and Michael Deets, and Carmell Corn; two sisters, Thelma Carter and Marlene Durham; six grandchildren, Caroline Suleman, Corey Stevens, Alexis and Zachary Deets, McKinley and Sydney Green ; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Sgt. lst Class (Retired) Charles Burden, 68 of Ozark, died after an extended illness Thursday Nov. 4, 2004, in Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 9, in the Main Post Chapel at Fort Rucker with the Rev. S.R. Perkins officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark.
Mr. Burden was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Blakely, Ga., and he is the son of the late Edward Burden and Frankie M. Burden. He was a 1955 graduate of Washington High ' School in Blakely. His career included 22 years in the U.S. Army where he served in assignments around the world, including two tours in the Vietnam War. He retired from military service Aug. 31, 1977, culminating in an assignment at the U.S. Army Safety Center at Fort Rucker Ala. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), National Defense Service Medal, Master Parachute Badge, Aircraft Crewman Badge and various other awards and decorations. After his retirement from the military service, he worked in a variety of jobs supporting the department of the Army s Aircraft Maintenance Program with major aviation companies, such as Northrop, Dyncorp and Sikorsky, culminating once again as an aircraft quality control foreman for Sikorsky Support Services and Dyncorp, Fort Rucker Division. He also received an associate's degree from Troy State University in 1983 and also various diplomas in aviation maintenance from schools, including the Alabama Aviation and Technical College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Eddie Cain Jr., and a brother, James Burden.
Surviving family include his wife, Mary H. Burden; three daughters, Joann Cain (Eddie), Elisa Harpe (Dennis) and Vicki Burden; four step-daughters, Shena Davidson (Gary), Alicia Littlejohn (Henry), Angela Moore (Stanley) and Keona Waldrop; three sons, Charles Jr. Burden (Kathy), Tony Burden (Leticia) and Patrick Burden (Deorah); one stepson, Kelvin Waldrop; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. James S. "Bud" Holmes, 68 of Frank Marshall Road, Ozark, Ala., died Tues- day, Nov. 2, 2004, in the Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Tew and the Rev. Floyd Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Enon Cemetery, Edwin, Ala. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Nancy Whilden, 255 Frank Marshall Road, Ozark, Ala. Mr. Holmes was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Henry County, Ala. He was the son of the late E.G. and Hattie Price Holmes. He attended Vivian B. Adams School for 25 years. You would see him every afternoon riding his bicycle to Ozark and parking at Andrews Drug Store. He enjoyed spending time with his sisters in the afternoons.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lonie Paramore and Laurie Morgan.
He is survived by three sisters, Nancy Whilden, Catherine Holland and Annie L. Mitchell, all of Ozark, Ala; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jewell Skinner Williams, 90 of Newton, Ala., died Monday Nov. 1, 2004, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 3, 2004, in Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Roberts and the Rev. Craig Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, Ala. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 5 until 7 tonight evening. Mrs. Williams was born in Geneva County on Nov. 25, 1913, to the late Laura Camilla Jones Skinner and William Berry Skinner. She lived most of her adult life in Newton, Ala., where she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Newton Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Williams worked with Westex in Headland until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis Vernon "Bud" Williams; two sisters, Callie Norris and Ethel Watson; and two brothers, Gus Skinner and Dolph Skinner.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James L. "Pete" and Glenda Williams, Newton, Ala.; three grandchildren, Gregory Williams, New- ton, Ala., Jeffery Williams and his wife, Stephanie, Newton, Ala., and Deborah Perkins, Durham, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williams's special caregivers will serve as honorary pallbearers Marsha Skeen, Rosa Skeen, Linda Screws, Lillie Sanders, Maxine Baxter, Margaret Boyd, Shirlene Griffin, and Frances Hood.
Mr. William "Bill" Austin, 62 of Ariton, Ala., passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at . the chapel of Fuqua- Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Isom Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Wood- lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday Oct. 30, 2004, at the funeral home.
Mr. Austin retired from DynCorp after 19 years of service. He loved his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman that loved fishing and hunting and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Austin.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" A. Austin; three daughters, Billie Ann Blackerby and her husband, Andrew, Kimberly Cordell and her husband, Mark, and Vickie Hoyle; one son, Robert A. Mohr and his wife, Patricia; three brothers, Bob Austin and his wife, Joyce, Jimmy Austin and his wife, Jenny David Austin and Brenda; grandchildren, Cody, Aaron, Angela, Sierra, Hannelore Hunter, Olivia, Kristina, and Rusty; and special friend "Lizzie."
Bradley Steven Ash, 43, Carroll High School Class of 1979, passed away October 28, 2004 in Niceville, Florida.
Brad is survived by his three children, Corrie Lynn Ash, 21, Matthew Aaron Ash, 17, and Brett Allen Ash, 14, of Millbrook, AL. He is also survived by their mother, Ellen Ann Heins, of Millbrook, AL, his parents Larry & Evelyn Kitts of Clarksville, TN, his brother, Jeffrey Ash of Germany, two sisters, Lisa Ash Craig, and Michele Kitts Miller, both of Clarksville, TN.
Brad left this world a lot to be remembered and a legacy that lives on forever in his children. Nothing is more important than the name you leave behind, and will be forever upheld with honor. Life is a gift you must live to the fullest each day, as tomorrow is never promised. Rest in peace Daddy, no more suffering, no more pain. Your memory lives in our hearts forever.
Madeline Lillian Taylor, 82 of Ashford, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Dale Medical Center following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 29, 2004, at Antioch Baptist Church (near Ashford, Ala.) with the the Rev. John Smith, the Rev. Danny Bynum and the Rev. Gregory Aman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 tonight. At other times the family will be at the home of Diane and Gregory Aman, 2232 A.B. Stubbs Road, Ozark, Ala. Mrs. Taylor will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Friday. Mrs. Taylor was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. and lived the early years of her life there. She was employed as a seamstress at Wex-Tex for many years. She lived in the Dupree Community in Ashford for over 45 years and was a member of the Ashford Senior Citizens Nutrition Center. Mrs. Taylor was a very active member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her husband, Charles William Taylor; a son, Steve Ellis Taylor; her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Charles Malico; four brothers, James Malico, Patrick Malico, John J. Malico and Armando Malico.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Diane T. Aman and her husband, the Rev. Gregory S. Aman, Ozark, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Tatum Taylor, Clarksville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Chadwick Aman and wife, Karen Andrews Aman, Ozark, Ala., Steven Bradley Taylor San Marcos Texas, and Joshua Lee Taylor, Ozark, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmine Malico and wife, Virginia, Spokane, Washington, Anthony Malico and wife, June, Winter Springs, Fla.; a sister, Carmellia (Millie) Savarese and husband, Dominick, Huntington, Long Island, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Grace Malico, Bronxville, N.Y., Nancy Malico, Huntington, Long Island, N.Y., Claire Malico, Centerport, Long Island, N.Y., Rosemary Malico, Huntington, Long Island, N.Y.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mildred Louise Parker, 89 of Ozark, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Ozark Nursing Facility.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 30, 2004, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry McCrummen officiating. A private Burial will take place in Old Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will. receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and again immediately following the services in the chapel.
The family request no food, however flowers will be accepted.
Surviving family include daughters Tommie Turner (Sammy), Cathy Potts (Larry); son Charles Ray Parker (Gayle); sister Margaret Tindol; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Brown Walker Jr., a resident of Ozark, Ala. passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at his residence.

Jo Ann Casey Gulledge, 56 and a resident of 1959 County Road 65, Skipperville, Ala, died Tuesday night, Oct. 26, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 29, 2004, in the Living Water Church Highway 27 north of Echo, Ala., with the Rev. Winford Gulledge and the Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Mrs. Gulledge was. a life-long resident of Dale County near the Bell's Crossroads Community, between Bertha and Echo. In earlier years, she was employed by White Knight Manufacturing in Ozark. Mrs. Gulledge was of the Methodist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Earl Gulledge and her father, George Elvin Casey.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Phoebe Hulett and her husband, Lewis Hulett, Skipperville Ala.; a son Greg Gulledge and his wife, Amanda Gulledge, Montgomery, Ala.; five grandchildren, Trey Hulett, Heather Hulett, Casey Hulett, all of Skipperville, Ala., Conner Gulledge and Reed Gulledge, both of Montgomery, Ala.; her mother, Mildred Morris Casey; several aunts and uncles including two special aunts, Erma German, Skipperville, Ala., and Marie McDaniel, Ozark, Ala.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law in the Gulledge family.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Glen Gulledge, Anthony Gulledge, Gary Gulledge, Glynn Ethridge, Trey Hulett and David Gulledge.
Mr. J. A. Nance, 62 of Midland City Ala., and native of Ariton, died early Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2004, in Dale Medical Center following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday Oct. 29, 2004, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark, Ala. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Mrs. Sarah Senn, 217 River Road, Ariton, from 6 until 8 tonight.
Mr. Nance was a native of Ariton and had lived in Mid- land City for the past six years. Mr. Nance served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Most recently he was employed with Larry's Bar-B-Q in Dothan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Boswell Nance; and his parents, Flossie Mae Faulk Nance and Joseph Alto Nance.
Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Nance Robertson, Midland City Ala.; one step-daughter, Tammy Hale, Geneva, Ala.; one son, William Joseph Nance, Mid- land City Ala.; one step-son, Tony Hale, Eufaula, Ala.; two sisters, Sarah Senn and Betty Peavy Ariton, Ala.; one brother, Danny Nance, Zolfo Springs, Fla.; and six grand- children.
Mrs. Vernell Segars Johnson, 88 of County Road 33 Skipperville, Ala., died Monday morning, Oct. 25, 2004, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, Oct. 26, 2004, in Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Peters officiating. Interment will follow, in the church cemetery. Mrs. Johnson will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Barbour County, moving to Skipperville at an early age, and lived there all her life. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband Ray Johnson in 1998.
Survivors include one son, Don Johnson and his wife, Agnes, of Skipperville, Ala.; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Cathy Johnson of Skipperville, Ala.
Mrs. Betty Sue Willis Danner, 58 of Glenway Drive, Ozark; died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Don Mills officiating. Interment will follow in Ewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 until 8 p.m Monday evening, Oct. 25, 2004.
Mrs. Danner was born Dec. 9, 1945, in Dale County to Willie Wayne Ellett Willis and the late Clarence Zonia Willis. She worked with the home health care system as a sitter for many years. She was pre- ceded in death by her father, and one brother Larry Glenn Willis.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Chris Acreman, New Hope, Ala.; one son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Deborah Danner, Ozark; her mother, Willie Willis, Ewell; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Jerry Gray Ewel; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Carol Willis, Ewell; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Willis, Ewell, Sylvia Trawick, Daleville, Sadia Potts, Skipperville, Vivian Dorrill, Skipperville, and Nadine Wilson, Troy; brother-in-law, Jimmy Danner, Ozark; a special friend, Hank Creel, Ozark; a special niece, Katina Jones; three grandchildren, Sidney Dylan Danner, Ashley Kaye Danner, and Kristy Acreman; and the father of her children, Fred Danner, Ga.
