Mr. Steven Lee Outlaw, 42 of the Mabson Community in Ozark, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at his home following an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22 from the Ozark Presbyterian Church with the Rev Randall Yelverton officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home parlors from 4 p.m. today with the family receiving friends until 6 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1152 W Main St., Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Outlaw was a lifelong resident of Ozark where he graduated from George W Long High School, Wallace Community College and Cleveland Institute of Electronics. He was employed with Motorola Corporation as a cellular field engineer He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by one daughter Janel Elise Outlaw, Iva, S.C.; one son, Ryan Outlaw, Ozark; mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Jimmy Bruner, Ozark; father and stepmother, Thomas and Barbara Outlaw, Shell Point, Fla.; maternal grandfather, Max Bruner, Ozark; two brothers, Scott Outlaw, Ariton, Bert and Sheanea Bruner, Donaldsonville, Ga.; two sisters, Kristina and Johnny Petrandis, Tallahassee, Fla., Taija Slaughter, Washington, D.C.; aunts and uncles, Wilton and Mavis Outlaw, Carlton Outlaw, Ariton, Sam and Jean Crumlish, Charleston, S.C., Joan Murdoch, Cumbria, England, Annabelle and Malcolm Wright, Basildon Essex, England, Douglas and Roseleen Crumlish, Largs, Scotland and Carolyn Outlaw, Webb.
Mr. Olon Webster Danner, Jr., 65 of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, 2005, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with the Rev. Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8.
Mr. Danner was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Barbour County to Estelle Hartzog Danner Hagler and the late Olon Webster Danner Sr. and attended the Ozark School System. He served in the United States Army until his retirement following 33 years, serving as a helicopter crew chief in the Pacific Theater during the Korean Conflict. He then became a brick mason. Mr. Danner was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nita Motley Danner of Ozark; two daughters, Pamela Danner of Ozark and Sherri VanLandingham of Quincy, Fla.; three sons, Timothy Danner of Hartford, Robert Danner of Hoffman, Texas, and Julian Danner of Bryson City, N.C.; his mother, Estelle Danner Hagler of Ozark; four sisters, Barbara Allcock of Ozark, Janet Rainer of Ozark, Debra Jones Dickerson of Horn Lake, Miss., and Michelle Hall of Farkersburg, WVa.; two brothers, Lawrence Danner of Bedford, Texas, and Stanley Danner of Dothan; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Curtis Loyd Chancey, 74 of Ozark, died early Tuesday evening, Aug. 16, 2005, at his home following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with the Revs. Dr. Thomas Leggett, Albert Hunt and John Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 p.m. today until service time on Friday The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7.

Mr. Chancey was born July 15, 1931, in Ozark to the late Effie Sullivan Chancey and Curtis P Chancey He attended the Dale County School System and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Civil Service following 25 years. He was a member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church, an avid cattleman and a devoted husband, father and brother.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Valeta Riley Chancey; one daughter, Dr. Carol Chancey; and one sister, Shirley Chance all of Ozark.
Mrs. Emmer J. Smith, 86 of Ozark, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. in the St. Mark A.M.E. Zion church, Liberty Avenue, Ozark, with the pastor, the Rev. Cammack, officiating. Burial will be in the Travelers Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Faye E. McGee Carpenter, 82 of Daleville, Ala., died Saturday evening, Aug. 13, 2005, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in the chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. James Kilpatrick and the Rev. Jud Waldrop officiating and Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. today until service time.

Mrs. Carpenter was horn in Eugene, Ore., on July 6, 1923, living in Daleville since 1958. She was a member of the Daleville Baptist Church. Her parents, Cecil and Glenn MeGee, and her husband, Charles C. Carpenter, preceded Mrs. Carpenter in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bundons and her husband, Dick, Overland Park, Kan., Kay Snellgrove and her husband, Jim, Ozark; and one son, Gordon Carpen- ter and his wife, Patsy, Dothan. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Rutha Bell Johnston, age 78, died Friday Aug. 12, 2005, in Dale Medical Center, Ozark; Ala.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from Asbury Cemetery with the Rev. Terriel Andrews officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Johnston was born April 29, 1927, in Dale County, the daughter of the late Johnnie William Bell and Pearlie Mae Deal. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel Community Church, formerly the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Johnston.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Johnston and Beth of Macon, Ga.; one daughter and son-in- law, Barbara Evans and Rich of Indianapolis, Ind.; one grandson, Lucus Johnston of Bluffton, Ga.; four grand-daughters, Kelli McDougal of Birmingham, Ala., Casey Johnston of Ohatchee, Ala., Julie Richey of Edison, Ga., Whitney Johnston of Macon, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Richey; one great-grandson, Hayden Nettles.
Mr. Merle Douglas Fultz, age 56 of Ozark, died Friday, August 12, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held in Lafayette, Ind. Mr. Fultz was the owner of Town and Country Heating and Cooling. Also, he and his wife owned and operated Fultz Child Care Center in Fowler, Ind. He moved to the Ozark area in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Doris J. Fultz of Ozark, Ala.; three sons: Richard Fultz and James Fultz, both of Pinckard, Ala., Michael Fultz of Rockville, Ind.; mother, Helen Fultz of Lafayette, Ind.; sister, Cheryl Davis of Lafayette, Ind.; two brothers Charles Fultz of Clarksville, Ind., and Maurice Fultz of Lafayette, Ind.; three grandchildren, Ashleigh, Erin and Logan Fultz.
Archie Eugene Bayne, 76 of Eight Mile, formerly of Ozark, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 10, 2005, in a Mobile hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today, Aug. 12, in Gardens of Memory with the Rev James A. Rich officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time to depart for the cemetery Friday at Holman-Headland Mortuary.
Mr. Bayne was born in the Mount Pisgah community of Dale County, near Echo, son of the late Clayton Oscar Bayne and Zillie Sewell Bayne. He lived in Ozark most of his life before moving to Eight Mile two years ago. Mr Bayne was a graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark and was a member of the Ozark Post, American Legion. He was formerly employed with Asplundh as a tree trimmer. Mr. Bayne was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ouida Mae Brown.
Surviving relatives include a son, James Ronald Bayne Sr. and his wife, Kelly R. Bayne, of Eight Mile; six grandchildren, Candie Elaine Ulmer, James Ronald Bayne Jr., Clarissa Bayne Jarrett, Kristi Bayne, William Clyde Bayne and Nathan Kyle Bayne; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Amber Ulmer, Tiffany Elaine Ulmer, Dalton Hudnall, Damon Jarrett, Blake Bayne and John Thompson; two sisters, Sue Snell and her husband, Allen Snell; Ruby Snell and her husband, Gib Snell; a brother, James Clayton Bayne, all of Echo.
Mr. Albert T. Pierce, 65 of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 2005, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with the Rev Farrell Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until service time. Otherwise, the family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angee Pierce, 8098 County Road 54, Echo.

Mr. Pierce was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Feb. 6, 1940, in Grady Memorial Hospital. He was the youngest of seven children. Mr. Pierce served in the United States Army for three years during the Korean Conflict. In July 1963 he was hired by Hayes International and worked for 32 years with the various maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker until his medical retirement in May 1995. He held an Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic License from the Alabama Aviation and Technical College and attended Enterprise Community College. Mr. Pierce was a member of IAM Local 2003 in Daleville, Claybank Masonic Lodge No. 349 in Ozark, Scottish Rites Bodies in Dothan, Alcazar Shriners in Montgomery and Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Waldron Pierce and George Pierce, Sr.; one sister, Barbara Echols; and one brother, George Pierce Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Brazelle Pierce of Ozark; one daughter, Tami Bryant and her husband, Keith, of Taylor; six sons, Ray Pierce and his wife, Teresa, of Enterprise, Rick Pierce of Dothan, Mike Pierce and his wife, Angee, of Echo, Bert Pierce and his wife, Tina, of Birmingham, Bob Pierce and his wife, Amy, of Mabson, and Bart Pierce and his wife, Laura, of Birmingham; two sisters, Elizabeth Payne of Suwannee, Ga., and Velma McLaughlin and her husband, Jim, of Doraville, Ga.; two brothers, David Pierce and his wife, Ruby, and John Pierce and his wife, Martha, all of Suwannee, Ga.; 16 grandchildren, Jessica Meservy and her husband, Ian, Lacy Pierce, Rick Pierce, Jr., David Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Kaylie Pierce, David Bryant, Kristen Bryant, Tyler Pierce, Micah Pierce, Elizabeth Grace Pierce, Zach Pierce, Hannah Pierce, Ethan Pierce, Caitlin Pierce and Nick Pierce.
Mrs. Louise Portwood, 71 of Ozark, passed away at her residence early Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, from Post Oak Baptist Church in Ozark with the Rev. Don Moore officiating. Burial will take place in Westview Cemetery The family will receive friends at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mrs. Portwood was born Nov 7, 1933, in New Brockton to John R. Strickland and Annie Elizabeth (Johnson) Strickland. She moved to Dale County in 196Z She worked for Avondale Mills, Cowikee Mills (10 years) and with Dale Medical Center in Ozark for 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, John R. Strickland.
Surviving family include her mother, Annie Elizabeth Strickland of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sons, Jimmy C. Portwood of Alexander, Va., Gene Portwood of Macon, Ga., William Portwood of Ariton; daughter, Diane Mills of Flint, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Lewis; sisters, Gladys Dunford of Ozark, Lucille Kuyt, Betty Kapla and Brenda Hudson, all of Michigan; brothers, Roy Strickland and David Strickland, both of Michigan; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mittie Mae McKinnis, a resident of Ozark, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2005, at Ozark Rehabilitation Center

Mrs. Anna Rhodes Vivour, 54 of Ozark, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the Dale Medical
Center in Ozark.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Glory To Him Fellowship Church in Ozark. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery in Ozark. There will be no viewing at the funeral home.

Luke Donald Petrey, 76 of Ozark, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at Ozark Manor.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Chapel in Ozark with the Rev. Joe Reams and Dr Billy Gaither officiating.
Donald Petrey was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Clearwater, Fla. He attended Eufaula City Schools and the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega. He owned Petrey Shoe Repair and Hobby Shop in Ozark for 47 years.
Mr Petrey was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Kathleen Petrey; his wife, Ruth Petrey, and his brother, Dr B. Dowling Petrey.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Hanna Petrey of Ozark; three nephews, Dowling Petrey of Ozark, Tommy Petrey of Richmond, Va., Roy Petrey of Shalimar, Fla.; one niece, JoAnn Petrey of New Orleans, La.; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Mr. John David Danford, 50 of Louisville and formerly Ozark, died early Saturday morning, July 23, 2005, in Louisville following an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005, from Elam Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe
Underwood and Kenneth Ear- les officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Holman Funeral Home of Ozark.

Mr. Danford was a native of Ozark, having lived in Louisville since 1980 where he was a member of Elam Baptist Church. Mr. Danford served in the United States Navy for 12 years and then enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he served until his retirement in 2002 from the 421st Quarter master Company He received the following awards and medals: Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, Army Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Marksman Marksmanship Badge Rifle, M-16, and Army Lapel Button. He was a veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm. Mr. Danford was employed with Georgia Pacific Lumber Company for the past five years and prior to that with Boyd Brothers Trucking in Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Mae Middlebrooks Danford and William Talmadge Danford Sr
Survivors include his son, William Danford of Milton Fla.; four brothers, William T. "Bill" Danford of Calabash, N.C., Robert Danford of Childersburg, O'Neal Danford and Brooks Danford of Louisville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benny and Doloris Baxley of Milton, Fla.; granddaughter, Gabrielle Danford of Milton, Fla.; girlfriend, Misty Metcalf of Louisville; nieces, Shanna and MaeLissa Danford; and nephew, Robert Danford.
