Mrs. Gladys Benton Sullivan, 95 of Newton, Ala., died Sunday April 3, 2005, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today, April 5, 2005 at Newton City Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Wood officiating. The family will receive friends at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark today from 1:30 til 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Sullivan was born in Dale County Ala. on Feb. 2, 1910, to the late Thomas Marvin and Hettie Price Benton.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband, Roy O'Dell Sullivan; two sons, Wade Benton Sullivan and Pledger Vaughn Sullivan; five brothers, Ralph N. Benton, Dewey Ben- ton, Harmon Benton, Raymond Benton, and Alex Benton; and sister, Ruby Benton Treadaway.
Survivors include her son, Tommy M. Sullivan of Newton Ala.; two brothers, David W. and lnez Childree Benton of Newton Ala. and Cecil B. and Helen Starkey Benton of Carrollton, Ga.; two sisters, Iva Nora Standifer of Newton, Ala. and Edna B. McSwain of Hartford, Ala.; daughter-in-law Marianne Rushton Sullivan of Shalimar Fla.; seven grandchildren Toni S. Sullivan and Michael W. Sullivan of Ozark, Ala., Permy K. and Mark Gardener of Shalimar Fla., Melissa R. and Tin Jackson of Pensacola, Fla., Terri L. Andrews of Dothan Sean P Sullivan of Ashville, N.C., Allan D. Sullivan of Brundidge, Ala.; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a very special loving niece Betty Treadaway Beasley of Newton, Ala.
H. L. (Hank) Williams, CMSgt. USAF, Retired, 71, died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at home following an extended illness.
CMSgt. Williams was born the son of Clarice and Hubert Williams on December 19, 1933 in Ozark. He served over 33 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1986. He was married to the late Patricia Anne Williams. They raised three daughters and moved back to Dale County in April of 2000.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Stripp and husband, Ray, Debbie Kinney and husband, Gary, all of Savannah, Georgia, and Suaan Denise Rauss and husband, Bill, of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michelle Adams of Savannah, Georgia, Tricia Kinney Tulley of Enterprise, and Lauren D. Phylow of State College, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua Adams, both of Savannah, Georgia; three brothers, Lummie, Doug and Danny Williams, and a sister, Katy Mitchell also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Bill Hart officiating. He was buried at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Iva N. Jackson Johnson, 65 of the Echo Community of Ozark, Ala., died Sunday evening, April 3, 2005.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday April 6, 2005, from Echo United Methodist Church with the Revs. Marquis Wingard and Phil Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in Echo Cemetery The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6 until 8 tonight. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Johnson was born May 22, 1939, in Ashford, Ala. to the late Marjorie Johnson Jackson and Kirmet Lee Jackson. She resided in Ashford until moving to Echo in 1971. She was a member of Echo United Methodist Church where she was serving as treasurer and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She was employed with Walter Hand Motor Company in Ozark for the past 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hobson "Hob" Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Nicole "Nicky" Johnson Thompson, Echo, Ala.; son, Richard "Ricky" Johnson and his wife, Jana, Echo, Ala.; three grandchildren, Kay Lee John- son, Presley and Jordyn Thompson; sister-in-law, Margaret Howard and her husband, Billy Hope Hull, Ala.; and two nephews, Tony Jackson, Pensacola, Fla. and Todd Jackson, Ashford, Ala.
Roger D. Pritt (E-6 retired), 60 of Ozark, Ala., passed away at his residence early Tuesday morning March 29, 2005.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Greg Doss officiating. Internment with full military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Thursday evening. Friends are welcome to pay their respects Friday from 9 a.m. until the service time or visit with the family one hour prior to services.
Mr. Pritt was born in Elkins, W.Va. on Dec. 5, 1944. He later served our country in the United States Army serving three tours in Vietnam. While in the service he was the recipient of many medals including the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; a Silver Star; a Bronze Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Air Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Master Aircraft Crewman Badge; Bronze Star (Oak Leaf Cluster); Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal (7 Awards); Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palin (2 awards); and Humanitarian.
Surviving family include his wife, Linda S. Pritt, Ozark, Ala.; daughter, Tammy Pritt, Ozark; son, Roger D. Pritt Jr., Ozark; two sisters, Glenda King, Elkins, W.Va. and Jerry Roberts of Milton, Fla.; six brothers, Danny Arbogast, El Paso, Texas, Delmas Arbogast, Elkins, W.Va., Gary Arbogast, Elkins, W.Va., Marvin Arbogast, Elkins, W.Va., Allen Arbogast, Elkins, W.Va., James Arbogast, Elkins W.Va.; and five grandchildren, Jeffery Pritt, Ozark, Zackery Pritt, Dothan, Kyle Schimnoski, Ozark, Olivia Whitmore, Ozark, and Carrie Pritt of Ozark.
Mr. Fred "Sonny" Ford, age 54, died Tuesday morning March 29, 2005, at his residence following a long illness. He was 54.

Mr. Ford was a graduate of Auburn University and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Ted Alvarez, 56 of Ozark, Ala., died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Tommy Fortune officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 tonight.
Mr. Alvarez was the son of Raymond Alvarez and Elouse Kyle Alvarez, who was born on March 29, 1948, in Trenton, Fla. and lived the early years of his life in Fort Meyers, Fla. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served four tours in Vietnam. He was employed as a police officer and a fireman in Fort Meyers. In 1981, he moved to Montana and was employed with North American Trucking and United Trucking Company before moving to Dothan in 2003. He was currently employed with Army Fleet Support at Fort Rucker at the Molinelli Range. Mr. Alvarez will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Chere Alvarez, Great Falls, Mont.; three sons, Clayton Alvarez, Ozark, Ala., Calvin Alvarez, North Carolina, Troy Alvarez, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erin Thorne and her husband, Richard, Dothan, Shannon Hill and her husband, Cornelius, California; six grandchildren, Joshua Klepel, Nate Hill, Nevin Hill, Kendel Hill, Skylarh Thorne and Caleb Thorne; two brothers, Ray Alvarez and his wife, Sheila and Danny Alvarez; a sister, Jane Alvarez; three nieces Tina, Jody Ann, and Angie; and four nephews, Wayland, Lance, Darren, and Darrel.
Mrs. Janice Preston, 53 of Ozark, Ala., died. Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery Ala.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 2, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the St. Rose Baptist Church in Skipperville, Ala., with the Rev. Charles Barrow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Dorothy J. Crittendon, a resident of Ozark, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul AME Church in Ozark with the Rev. J.H. Fitchard officiating. Ms. Dorothy J. Crittendon was a faithful member at St. Paul AME Church, having joined at an early age, and she was also a member of the senior choir. She was married to the late Henry Crittendon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cylventer and Veler Jones; a sister, Annie Clara Tate; and a nephew, Willie C. Jones.
She is survived by Lunda Dowling, Hattie Jones, Doris Jones, Glenn Jones, Geoffry Jones, Todd Jones, Marquita Stewart, Brittany Jones, Whitney, Christine, Brando JaMaya, Dorisa, Rierra, Sarah Nell and Fannie Morrison, as well as a host of family and friends.
Mrs. Mary Jean Sherman, 60 of Skipperville, Ala., passed away Thursday March 24, 2005, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Mrs. Sherman was born in Newton, Ala., Oct. 19, 1944, to the late Robert T. Messick and Jenie Lou (Watson) Messick. She later moved to Skipperville, where she has lived most of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who cared for and loved her family deeply.
Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by her son, Lamar Sherman; a sister, Willie Mae Peacock; and brothers, Ed Messick and Roy T. Messick.
Surviving family include her husband Angus "Grit" Sherman; daughters, Margaret Collins and her husband, Troy of Webb, Ala., Patricia Sherman of Skipperville, Ala., Rebecca Cuppett and her husband, Timmy of Skipperville; a very special niece, Anita Walker and her husband, Gerald of Ozark; brother Edward Messick; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Miss Mary Ethel Cotter, 74 of Newton Avenue in Ozark, died Wednesday morning, March 23, 2005.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Westview Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Reams officiating. Interment will follow. Miss Cotter was born in Ozark, Ala. on March 27, 1930, and graduated from then Dale County High School in Ozark in 1948, and from Montevallo University in Montevallo, Ala. She was employed with Civil Service at Fort Rucker for 33 years, and retired as budget officer in 1985 from USASSA Signal Battalion, Fort Rucker. Miss Cotter was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William A. Cotter; and three brothers, William R. Cotter, James E. Cotter and Francis B. Cotter.
Survivors include a niece, Carol Cotter Brian and husband, William H. Brian Amarillo, Texas; and several cousins.
Mr. Bill Deloney Jr., 71 of Ozark, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark.

He was born and raised in Dale County Ala. He was engaged in farming most of his life, and for the past several years specialized in strawberries and summer produce. Mr. Deloney owned and operated Deloney Farms produce with his family. He was a life-long member and a deacon of Ozark Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Deloney served for many years as a board member and officer of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association and Dale County Farmers Federation. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lillie Deloney; sister, Martha Sue Deloney Logan; and a sister-in-law, Laura jean Watson Deloney
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Hilda Davis Deloney of Ozark, Ala.; a daughter, Debra Jane Deloney of Ozark; two sons, Lyman Lee Deloney of Ozark and Jim Marley Deloney and his wife, Lori, of Ozark; sister Marjorie Anna Deloney Bensinger and her husband Dick of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Charles Abb Deloney of Skipperville and Robert Martin Deloney and his wife, Connie of Ozark; a special brother-in-law, E. W. Logan of Ozark; six grandchildren, Weston Deloney, Dylan Deloney Nikki Deloney Kristi Deloney, Charles Woodham, and Brandy Munn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred Hummer Anderson passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, in Dale Medical Center.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Shuqualak Cemetery in Shuqualak, Miss., with Dr. Alan Carter, of Birmingham, Ala., nephew of Mrs. Anderson, conducting the services. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, Miss.
Mrs. Anderson was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Prairie Point, Miss., to the late Helen Jackson Hummer and Glenn Edwin Hummer. She and her twin sister, Margaret, attended elementary school in Prairie Point and graduated from Mashulaville High School in 1928. She attended Mississippi Southern College in Hattisburg, Miss., and graduated from Bowling Green Business College in Bowling Green, Ky. Mrs. Anderson worked as a legal secretary until her marriage in January 1936 to Louis T. Anderson Jr. of Shuqualak. She lived in Shuqualak until 1995 when she moved to Ozark, Ala. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed homemaking, especially cooking. Mildred was an avid reader and was a frequent visitor of the Dale County Library. She was a member of the Dale County Chapter of the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteers), the Ozark Baptist Church, and the Lydia Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Louis T. Anderson jr., her parents, Helen Jackson Hummer and Glenn Edwin Hummer; two sisters, Margaret Carter and Eunice McCollum; two brothers, Glenn Edwin Hummer and Vernon Hummer.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Murphree and husband, Dr. James Murphree of Ozark, Ala.; her son, Dr. Louis T. Anderson III, and wife, Ruth Anderson of Waverly, Tenn.; five .grandchildren, Dr. Jim Murphree Jr of Ozark, Ala., Dr. Andy Murphree and wife, Leigh of Columbus, Miss., Millie Brinyark and husband, Bryan of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Louis T. Anderson IV and wife, Heidi of Dyersburg, Tenn.; Elisha Stevens and her husband, Jon of Burns, Tenn.; one brother, Warren Earl Hummer and wife, Edith of Louisville, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Hummer and Marion Hummer of Macon, Miss.; one brother-in-law, Dr. Walter Anderson and wife, Mary of Macon, Miss.; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Morris, age 28, died on March 17, 2005, in Ozark, Ala.
Funeral hour will be at Saint Paul's A.M.E. Church in Ozark at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery Visitation will be held at Gilmer's Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala. at 1 p.m. today. The second visitation will be held Saturday from 12 until the funeral service.
He was a native of Ozark, Ala. and a resident of New Brockton, Ala. He was a member of Victory Temple and worked as a journeyman plumber.
He is survived by his father Jimmy Green and mother, Queen Covington, both of Ozark, Ala.; grandfather, Emmitt Covington; grandmother, Maureen White; wife, Tashika Morris of New Brockton, Ala.; daughters, Jozriel Morris and Zyaeriah Morris, both of New Brockton, Ala., Zavianastaja Morris and Laquisha Brown, both of Bellview, Ala.; brother Chyenne Russaw of Ozark, Ala.; and sisters, Princess Morris of Birmingham, Ala., Shawonda Russaw and Maureen Beachem, both of Ozark, Ala.
Karla Ann Sawls, 42 of Ozark, passed away at her residence March 17, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005 at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Bro. Keener Batchelor officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today March 18, 2005, at the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Sawls is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Charles Guy Grantham.
Mrs. Sawls is survived by her husband, Mr. Thomas Sawls of Ozark; her mother, JoAnn Grantham of Ozark; one daughter, Starr S. Webb of Ozark; one granddaughter, Kayla Marie Costello of Ozark; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim and Gene Goolsby Kyla and Jerry Smith, Kerrie and Buddy Weldon, all of Ozark; and one brother and sister-in-law, Charles Buddy and Kim Grantham of Ozark.
