Mr. Joe McCurdy, age 83 of High Point Community passed away Monday, July 1, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2002 from Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-9 PM Tuesday.
Survivors include: wife, Kathleen McCurdy of High Point Community; son, James Buster (Diana) McCurdy of High Point Community; daughter, Shirley (B.J.) Mitchell of Rainsville; brothers, William B. McCurdy of Henagar, and Mack McCurdy of High Point Community; sisters, Mildred Hulgan, and Jean Stevens, both of High Point Community; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
MRS. MARY "NOLIE" PRUITT
Mrs. Mary Pruitt, better known as "Nolie" (correct spelling "Nolia"), age 78 of Grove Oak, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Jackson County Hospital.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2002 from Piney Grove Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Myers, Glenn Pankey, Johnny Fincher, and Dennis Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Piney Grove Cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home directing. Family received friends from 5-9 PM Tuesday.
Survivors include: brothers, Edgar Bradford of Grove Oak, and Eddie Bradford of Albertville; sisters, Kathryn Bradford Colvin of Albertville, Carolyn Bradford Knight, and Patsy Bradford Hass, both of Scottsboro; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shannon Skinner Brown, age 52 of Elgin, IL, formerly of this area, passed away Friday, July 5, 2002 in Elgin, IL.
Graveside service was held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2002 from Kirk Memorial Gardens with Mr. Keary Chandler officiating with Rainsville Funeral Home directing. Visitation was from 6-9 PM Tuesday.

Mrs. Emma Black, age 88, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002 at BMC-DeKalb.

Survivors include: parents, Homer and Ruth Cole of Sylvania; brother, Raborn (Linda) Cole of Sylvania; sisters, Nina Cole of Sylvania, Helen (Kenneth) Davis of Fort Payne; two special nieces, Whittney Davis and Andrea Cole; step-niece, Misty Strickland; step-nephews, Chris Bethune and Terry Davis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Cole. Brother Cole was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church.

Whitney was a 1999 graduate of Plainview High School, she was a member of the Plainview Marching Band, attended Northeast State Community College, and attended Fyffe Church of God.

Mrs. Leona Barnett Goodman, age 86, of Fort Payne, AL passed away Monday, June 3, 2002 at her residence. Mrs. Goodman was born December 20, 1915 in DeKalb County, daughter of the late James "Jim" Lafayette and Georgia Foster Barnett. She was retired from Shugart's Hosiery Mill where she worked as a looper. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Live Oak, FL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mtn. View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2002 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

MR. DOYLE J. SCOTT
Mr. Doyle J. Scott, 80 of Fort Payne died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Scott was a native of DeKalb County, born October 27, 1921, son of the late James Franklin and Gussie Bryant Scott. He was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a veteran of WWII. He was the retired owner of Scott Pool Co.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2002 from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Orien Ledford and Rev. David House officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memory Gardens. The family will accept flowers, or donation may be made to the Parkinson Disease Association of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Mr. Wallace D. Sharp, Jr., age 76 of Fort Payne, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Riverview Hospital in Gadsden, AL.

Mr. Sharp was a native of DeKalb County, AL, the son of Wallace D. Jr. and Katie Lou Wilson Sharp. He was retired from Kingsberry Homes in Fort Payne, AL.
