passed away Monday, November 5, 2001 at Crossville Health Care
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at 2pm CST at the
Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Griffin and Rev. Fred Bobo
officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens

Survivors include Sons and Daughter-in-laws; Clint Hartline of Fyffe, AL.,
George and Janet Hartline, Jr. of Fort Payne, AL., and James Hartline of
Scottsboro, AL

Mrs. Bertha Manning Kilgore age 87 of Fyffe, AL passed away Friday,
November 16, 2001 in the Marshall Medical Center South. Funeral
service will be Sunday, November 18, 2001 at 2pm CST at the Rainsville
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the
Green 's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include her Sons; John Manning, Lyles Manning and Mark
Manning all if Rainsville, AL
Daughters; Rosa Parrish of Section, AL., and Anne Heaton of Fyffe, AL
11 Step-Grandchildren, 16 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren and a
host of Great-Great-Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her Husbands; Andy Manning and Leonard Kilgore

Miss Hayley Marie Alcorn age 20 of Henagar, AL passed away
Monday, November 19, 2001 at Moore's Crossroads.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 3pm CST
at the Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve McFall
and Rev. Larry Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the
Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackie Clifton Smith age 56 of Henagar, AL passed away Tuesday,
November 27, 201 in the Jackson County Hospital Funeral services will be
Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 2pm CST at the Rainsville Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Joe Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley's Chapel
Cemetery.

Mr. James Aubrey Fortner age 75 of Tiftonia, TN passed away at his residence
Tuesday, November 27, 2001. Funeral service will be Friday, November 30, 2001 at 1pm CST
at the Tiftonia Holiness Church with Bro. Billy Parker, Bro. Jimmy Fergurson, and Bro.
David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Memorial Park

Dan Kirkpatrick with Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens Mausoleum

November 29, 2001 at Cedar Bluff, AL. Funeral services will be Saturday,

Rev. Roger Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Cemetery

Mrs. Bessie Green -Beene age 88 of Chattanooga, TN formerly of Green 's Chapel
passed away Friday, November 30, 2001 at Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will
held Sunday, December 2, 2001 at 1pm CST at Green 's Chapel Baptist Church
with Rev. Junior Garrett and Rev. Gerald Green officiating. Burial will follow in the
Green 's Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Violet Parker age 80 of Rainsville, AL passed away Thursday,
November 29, 2001 in Cogburn Nursing Home. Funeral service will be
Saturday, December 1, 2001 at Broadway Baptist Church. Body will lie in
state 1 hour prior to service. Rev. Kevin McCreless, Rev. Noland Ford, and Rev. Dale Roberts
officiating.

Survivors include her Son and Daughter-in-law; Jim and Rene Parker
of Huntsville, AL

Mr. William Doyle Scruggs, a lifelong resident of Dekalb County, Alabama
died Tuesday. November 6, 2001. He was born in Fort Payne on May 29, 1943.
He graduated from The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee,
and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alabama in 1965.
Upon his graduation from the University of Alabama Law School in 1968, he
began practicing law in Fort Payne, Alabama, where he practiced until his death.
He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order at the University of Alabama,
President of the Alabama State Bar Association in 1986-87,
a member of the Board of Bar Commissioners from 1973 to 1992, a Fellow
of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Bar Foundation and the
Alabama Bar Foundation, and received the Alabama State Award of Merit 1982.
Scruggs also served as a judge on the Alabama Court of the Judiciary from 1984 until his death.

An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Scruggs was a member of the Safari Club
International and the British Association for Shooting and Conversation.
He hunted in Afghanistan, Africa, Argentina, Austria, Germany, Iran, Scotland,
Spain and his beloved Lookout Mountain.

He is survived by his Wife; Kay Malone Scruggs of Fort Payne.
Daughter; Shannon Scruggs Campagna ; a Son-in-law; Christopher Campagna,
Granddaughter, Elizabeth Banks Campagna of Alexandria. Virginia.
Sister, Jane Scruggs of Huntsville, Alabama.
Special Friends Banks Robertson and Judge John Bryan

Funeral services will be held Thursday,, November 8, 2001 at 11am CST from
the First Baptist Church of Fort Payne with Dr. Pat McFadden, Dr. Mark Lacey
and Rev. Bobby Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery,
Fort Payne, AL. The family request contribution be made to the
Cancer Research Foundation of America,

Mr. Robert William Beck, Sr. age 78 of Fort Payne, AL passed away at
his residence Tuesday, November 6, 2001 following a lengthy illness.
Robert was well known as "Beck" of Fergy and Beck Body Shop, which later
became Beck's Body Shop. he served in the USAF during WWII in Italy 780th
Bombardment from McCook Air Base in Nebraska. He was precede in death
by his Wife; Hazel M. Beck, Son; Robert William "Bobby" Beck and a
Daughter; Ellen Lynn Beck.

Survivors include his Daughter and Son-in-law; Karen and Kevin Lacy,
Grandchildren; John Gabriel and Emily Rebecka of Newport News, VA
Brother-in-law; Thomas N. Tidwell and many Nieces and Nephews

Karen and Kevin would like to thank the many friends that call and
came by during Dad's illness; this meant so much to him. To the
ICU Nurses, You always willing to help in any possible way to make Dad
comfortable. To Mark his Hospice Nurse, To Carol Dennis and Selma McElhaney
blessings to us. Words are not enough to let you know what your love and caring has meant.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 9, 2001 from the Wilson Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the
Glenwood Cemetery.
