Mr. Frederic Dowdy Nicholson age 71 of Gadsden, AL passed away
May 11, 2001 at Riverview medical Center in Gadsden, AL
Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 1:30pm CDT
at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden, AL with Rev.
James Elliott, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be 3pm CDT
at the Collinsville Cemetery.
Mr. Nicholson was retired from the U. S. Civil Service.
He was a member of the Northeast Genealogical Society,
the Etowah Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution,
the Etowah Historical Society, Gadsden Museum of the Arts and a active
volunteer at the Gadsden Public Library. He was a native of Collinsville, AL:

Mr. Earl McKeehan of Fort Payne, AL passed away Wednesday,
May 2, 2001 at his residence. Mr. McKeehan was born Jan. 12, 1947
Son of the late Leroy Houston McKeehan. He was supervisor at
McKeehan Mills and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mr. H. P. Griggs age 70 of Fort Payne, AL passed away Wednesday,
May 2, 2001 at BMC Montclair Hospital in Birmingham, AL
Mr. Griggs was born July 27, 1930 in Fort Payne, AL
Son of the late Henry Leslie and Lucy Emeline Dean Griggs. He
was retired from Bell South where he worked as a plant manager
and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. he was a member of the First Baptist Church,
Fort Payne Masonic Lodge #437, and Scottish Rites.
Graveside services will be Friday, May 4, 2001 at 2pm CDT at Glenwood
Cemetery with Rev. Jim Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends

Mrs. Vera B. McSpadden Ellis, 90 of DesotParkway, Fort Payne died Monday at her residence.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Dekalb County May 27, 1910, daughter of the late
James W. and Brownie Norton McSpadden. She was a member of the
New Oregon United Methodist Church, Red Cross Volunteer with 25 years of
srevice, Garden Club and United Methodist Women. She was preceeded in death
bu her husband, Fitzhugh Ellis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel
witht the Rev. Eric Bell and Rev. Gary Heathcock officiating. Burial will be in the Fischer
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ricky Don Fox age 44 of Fort Payne, AL passed away Thursday,
May 17, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Fox was a native of Dekalb County, AL
The son of the late Clyde and Lora Burt Fox. He was a member of Minvale
Baptist Church in Fort Payne, AL and the Ruhama Masonic Lodge #902
He was a maintenance engineer at the BMC Dekalb Hospital in Fort Payne, AL

Mr. Richard Duncan Baxter age 83 of Chamblee, GA passed away
at his residence on May 18, 2001. Mr. Baxter was a native of Fort Payne, AL
the son of the late Stephen Elisha and Jessie Duncan Baxter. He was retired from
Boise Cascade, a member of the Wieuca Road Baptist Church. and a Naval
veteran of WWII

the Glenwood Cemetery with Dr. Pat McFadden officiating.

Mr. Elmer Hallman age 75 of Fort Payne, AL passed away Thursday,
May 24, 2001 in a Gadsden Hospital. Mr. Hallman was a native of Tuscaloosa,
AL and retired from Burns Security, he was a member of the New Testament
Holiness Church.
Graveside services will be 12 Noon CDT Saturday, May 26, 2001 from the
New Testament Cemetery with Rev Ronnie Highfield officiating.
Mr. Hallman was survived by his Sisters; Flora Cato, of Little Rock, AK.,
and Lora Ann Barfield of Bristol, FL
Mrs. Lelia Carroll of Bakersfield, CA formerly of Fort Payne, AL
passed away May 15, 2001. Mrs. Carroll was a native of Helena, AL and a
member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church
Mrs. Caroll is survived by her Daughter; Linda Hufstedler of Bakersfield, CA
2 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Mr. Wilburn D. Osbourn age 80 of Fort Payne AL passed away
Tuesday, May 22, 2001. He was born the son of the late Robert
Lee and Fronia Cole Osbourn. He was a native of Clay County, AL
he owned Osbourn Barber Shop in Fort Payne, AL. He was a member
of Godfrey Avenue Baptist Church. and a veteran of WWII.
