Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 3, 2002 from the Higdon Holiness Church with Rev Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Bryant, AL. The body will lie in state at the church from 5:30 PM until time of service.

Mrs. Syntha Higdon, age 83 of Higdon, AL passed away Saturday, August 3, 2002 in Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at the Higdon Holiness Church with Rev. Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Higdon Cemetery. All visitation will be from the Higdon Holiness Church from 3:00 PM Sunday, August 4, 2002 until time of service Tuesday.
Survivors include: son, Wayne Higdon; grandsons Michael and Martin Higdon; four great-grandchildren, Amber, Crystal, Bradly and Branden Higdon, all of Higdon, AL.
Mrs. Higdon was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, AL, and a member of the Higdon Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by: parents, Andrew J. and Maude Harris Millican; husband, Hardie Higdon; brothers, Heskell, Virgil, and Bill Millican; sisters, Aileen Knight, and Hazel McAdams.

Burial will follow in Smith's Chapel Cemetery in Ider, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4-9 PM CST and Saturday from 9 AM until time of service.

Mr. Royce Cecil Hairston, age 59 of Valley Head, AL, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002 at his residence.

View Memory Gardens in Rainsville, AL with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-9 PM Sunday and from 9 AM until time of service Monday.
Survivors include: wife, Carolyn Hairston of Valley Head; mother, Violet Hairston of Fort Payne; sons and daughters-in-law, Roderick and Tracy Hairston of Flat Rock, Chris and Denise Hairston of Hokes Bluff, Ronald and Annette Hairston of Valley Head; brothers, Ira Hairston of Henagar, Howard Hairston of Rainsville, and David Hairston of Fort Payne; grandchildren, Caleb Hairston and Chassidie Hairston; step-grandchildren, Dylan Ward, Chase Ward, Trevor Bass, and Melissa Doss. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James Cecil Hairston.
Mr. Hairston was born in Jackson County, AL, was a member of the Stamp Baptist Church, a licensed minister, and a retired disabled Vietnam veteran having served 20 years in the U.S. Army.

James Ryan Kellett, age 26 of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, August 13, 2002. Ryan was born in Fort Payne on July 17, 1976. He was a member of Minvale Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the DeKalb Masonic Lodge #117 F & AM. He was employed my Jim's Pawn Shop.

Mrs. Bean was born in Oklahoma on July 21, 1939 daughter of the late John and Ruth Nelson Dennis. She was a member of Gault Ave Baptist Church and retired from Johnson Hosiery Mills.
