Vernie Bell, 93, of Scottsboro, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2005 at Jackson County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home Chapel in Scottsboro with Bro. Erby Shankles, Bro. Bill Pace, Bro. Bill Venable and Alton Willmon officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Bell is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Jean Bell of Section and Jody and Pam Bell of Huntsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Calvin Berry of Scottsboro, Brenda and Jimmy Black of Grant and Peggy and Corky Coffman of Bridgeport; brother, Waco Bell of Scottsboro; half-brothers, Tommy Bell of Scottsboro and Herman Bell of Scottsboro; sister, Nancy Miller of Scottsboro; half-sister, Marie Davis of Scottsboro; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great, great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Bell and two sons, Howard Junior Bell and Alfred Bell.
Mr. Bell was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Mannis Lonnie Moore, 83, of Hytop, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Andrews and Rev. Clinton Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Green haven Cemetery.
Mr. Moore is survived by a son, Tony Moore of Henagar; daughter, Joyce Tinker of Hytop; sister, Anna Roach of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Leatha Rachel Moore; parents, Rev. M. H. Moore and Nancy Davis Moore; sons, Windell Moore, Don Moore and Ricky Moore; grandchild, Kimberly Tinker; and a great-grandchild, Ashley Moore.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. at Tenbroeck Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Turner, Rev. Jeremy Guinn and Rev. Hoyt Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, April 20 from 3 p.m. until time of funeral service at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Reagin Brown and Dr. Robert Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holland is survived by his wife, Tracy Butler Holland; son, Thomas Butler Holland of Scottsboro; daughter, Riley Catherine Holland of Scottsboro; mother and step-father, Peggy Holland McClendon and Jack McClendon of Scottsboro; sister, Deborah Holland Crawford of Scottsboro; brother, James Leroy Holland of Scottsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Holland was survived by his father, William Thomas Holland and his brother, Harry Lee Holland.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, Danny Johnson of Scottsboro; daughters, Jeanette Allen of Stevenson, Linda Hutcheson of Henagar and Sherry Hambrick of Section; sister, Myrtle Little of Crow Mountain; grandchildren, Tina McCarver Henderson of Stevenson, Melinda Dawn Paschal of Henagar, Jeffery Scott Allen of Stevenson, Daniel Eric Hutcheson of Henagar, Clayton Sage Johnson of Scottsboro, Christy Tahnee Jones of Section and Randi Shanee Jones of Section; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Nicholas McCarver of Stevenson and Austin Taylor Henderson of Stevenson.
Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong member of the Roaches Cove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Robert Roy Phillips of Hollywood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mona and Eric Suter of Hollywood and Kim and John Paul Rice of Hollywood; three step-daughters, Terri Tahmaseb of Birmingham, Candy Woodall of Birmingham and Bobbie Potter of Scottsboro; eight grandchildren, Dylan Rice of Hollywood, Erica Suter of Hollywood, Dustin Sullivan of Birmingham, Tristan Tahmaseb of Birmingham, Zia Tahmaseb of Birmingham, Derrick Phillips of Birmingham, Taylor Woodall of Birmingham and Makenzie Potter of Scottsboro; and mother, Ola Mae Wester of Scottsboro.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Wester and step-daughter, Donna Sullivan.

Reuben C. Chitwood, Sr., 71, of Collinsville, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.
Thomas Monroe Derrick
Thomas Monroe Derrick, a lifelong resident of Scottsboro, died in his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the age of 58.
He was surrounded by friends and loved ones at the time of his passing.
Mr. Derrick was a furniture merchant in Scottsboro for more than 30 years. After attending the University of Alabama and Northeast State, Tommy went to work with his father, Waco T. Derrick, in the family business, the Rough and Tumble Furniture Co., which later became Derrick’s Furniture. At the time of his death, he was the owner and proprietor of Mr. D’s Furniture Store.
