Vera Hill

Vera Hill age 72 of Guin, Alabama died Sunday, September 12, 2004 at her daughter's residence in Cottondale, Alabama.

Born in Walker County, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Dewey and Denna Hodge and the Wife of the late Floyd Hill. She had lived in Guin most of her life and was a Nurse's Aid.

She is survived by her Daughter, Brenda (Wayne) Barger of Cottondale, AL, Six Grandchildren, Dale Freeman, Angela Jones, Ronnie Freeman, Chrissy Hill, Jamie Hill, and Jason Hill and 11 Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a Son, Jimmy Hill Sr.

Funeral Services held Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 11:00 AM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phillip Egan officiating. Burial in the Guin City Cemetery.

Bob Murray

Robert (Bob) Murray age57 of Lubbock, Texas died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at his residence in Lubbock Texas.

Born in Monroe County, in Green wood Springs Mississippi. He is the son of Rosie Lee Mosley Murray and the late Harmon Murray. He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, he has lived in Lubbock TX for the past 3 and a half years, he was a Civil Engineer and worked as Chief estimator and assistant manager for the West Texas area region for the Granite Construction Company.

He is survived by his Wife Debbie Cruse Murray, of Lubbock TX, his Mother Rosie Lee Mosley Murray of Green wood Springs MS, A Daughter Misty (Paul) Kennedy of Smithville MS, Two Sons; Shane (Kim) Murray and Lance Murray all of Green wood Springs MS, Two Step Sons; Brian Johnson of Fort Lauderdale FL, and Matthew Johnson of Lexington, KY, and Five Grandchildren.

Services held Monday, September 6, 2004 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Stanford and Bro. Tom Rossi officiating. Burial in the Carter Cemetery at Detroit, AL.

Tollie Atkinson

Tollie Atkinson age 90 of Guin, Alabama died Friday, December 3, 2004 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin.

Born in Lamar County, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Charley and Zetta Zeo Black Burnett and the Wife of the late Robert Kelly Atkinson. She had lived in the Wayside Community all of her life and was a member of the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by Two Daughters, Martha Martin of Ocean Springs, MS and Julia Weaver of Guin, AL, Three Sons, Billy Atkinson, Clinton Atkinson and Gary Atkinson all of Guin, AL. 29 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. A Sister, Dollie Gilmer of Winfield, AL and A Brother, Bill Burnett of Sulligent, AL.

She was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Myra Beth Benton, Three Sisters and Three Brothers.

Services held Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 2:00 PM from the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the Old Union Cemetery. Bro. Randy Wright and Bro. Danny Williams officiating.

Marvin Akers, Jr.

Marvin Akers Jr. age 78 of Guin died Saturday, November 27, 2004 in the Medical Center East Hospital in Birmingham.

Born in Marion County, AL, he is the Son of the late Daisy Pollard Akers and Marvin Thompson Akers, Sr. He had lived in Guin the past 30 years and had formerly lived in Florida. He was a member of the Free Water Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by A Son, Jeff Akers of Amory, MS, Three Grandchildren, and Two Brothers, James Akers of Intercession City, FL and Douglas Akers of Mt. Olive, AL. Several Nieces and Nephews.

He was also preceded in death by Two Sisters, Mary Dean Bozeman and Madge Norris and a Brother, Joe Akers.

Services held Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Liberty Cemetery. Bro. William L. Atkins officiating.
