Sara Mullins Pennington age 77 of Guin, AL died Sunday, January 30, 2005 in the Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL.
Born in Dorsey, Mississippi she is the Daughter of the late Bonnie Frank and Nancy Ida Wood Mullins. She had lived in Guin most of her life and was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church. She attended Judson College in Marion, AL, the University Of Alabama and U.A.B. in Birmingham. She was a retired teacher in the Marion County School System.
She is survived by a Daughter, Nancy Pennington Benton (John) of Birmingham, AL, Two Sons, John Wesley Pennington III (Reba) of Atlanta, GA and Frank Daniel Pennington (Karen) of Birmingham, AL, Four Grandchildren, Amy, Amanda and Brandon Pennington and Elizabeth Benton, and A Brother, Robert A. Mullins (Bobbie) of Guin, AL.
Services held Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 10:00 AM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. Scott Stokes officiating.

Melvin Hood
Melvin Hood age 80 of Pontiac, IL formerly of Lamar County, AL died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in the ASTA Care Center in Pontiac, IL.
Born in Lamar County, AL. He is the Son of the late Benny and Geneva O'Mary Hood. He had lived in Rock Island, IL for 31 years and retired from International Harvestor before he moved back to Lamar County in 1983 where he lived until moving to Pontiac, IL in 2002. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War having served in the US Army and Navy. He was a member of the River Side Free Will Baptist Church in Bettendorf, Iowa.
He is survived by Three Daughters, Laura Vice of Vernon, AL, Eva Pennington, and Angie Hood both of Pontiac, IL, A Son, Stephen Hood of Pontiac, IL. Six Grandchildren, Eddie Wayne Vice, Johnny Wayne Vice, Jason Kelly Hood, Stephanie Renea Vice, Derrick Dewayne Stanford and Jacob Scott Pennington, Four Great Grandchildren, Kristyn Blair Vice, Adrianna Elizabeth Vice, Jose Alejandro Serna and Madison Ameri Serna.
He was also preceded in death by four children, Kelly Roy Hood, James Melvin Hood, Janet Leigh Hood, and Jackie Kelly Hood, three Sisters, and two Brothers.
Services held Monday, January 31, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent with burial in the Wofford Cemetery. Bro. Edward Puckett officiating.

Lee Albert "Flip" Terrell age 67 of Guin, AL died Monday, January 17, 2005 in the Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.
Born in Marion County, Alabama. He is the Son of the late Floyd Lee and Elmer Riggins Terrell. He had lived in Guin most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Guin and the Guin Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his Wife, Virginia Terrell of Guin, AL, Five Daughters, Denise L. Terrell of Hamilton, AL, Catherine Terrell of Winfield, AL, Diana Terrell, Carolyn Delane Terrell and Shawanda Rashea Terrell all of Hamilton, AL, Two Sons, John Wayne Terrell of Jacksonville, FL and Norman Lee Terrell of Winfield, AL, 11 Grandchildren, A Sister, Annie Mae Bobo of Guin, AL, A Special Aunt and Uncle, Velma and Arthur Terrell of Hamilton, AL and A Special Cousin, Joel Terrell of Birmingham, AL. A Host of Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by Two Sons, Frankie Lee Terell and Phillip Lee Terrell, His parents, Floyd Lee Terrell and Elmer Riggins Terrell, Step Father, E.W. Warren, and a Brother, Lee James, "Big Flip" Terrell.
Services held Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Ida Bell Black age 98 of Guin, AL died Sunday January 9, 2005 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL.
Born in Guin, AL. She is the Daughter of the late James and Hattie Swanigan Terrell and the Wife of the late Genie Black. She had lived in Guin all of her life and was a member of the Real Chapel C.M.E. Church and a member of the Riggins Pride Chapter of Eastern Star # 791.
Among her survivors are Cousins, Carl Swanigan of Detroit, MI, Bertha McCollum of Guin, AL, Brenda Jackson of Guin, AL, Catherine Ervin of Birmingham, AL, Ada McConnell of Fayette, AL, Meagan Key of Hamilton, AL, L.A. Terrell of Guin, AL and a host of other relatives.
Services held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 1:00 PM from the Real Chapel C.M.E. Church with burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. Rev. E.L. Thompson and Minister Carl Swanigan officiating.
